Dagor Engine 5.0 — a new version of the game engine brings War Thunder improved graphics and effects.

Sounds
Multiple changes related to sounds:
- A new (modular) principle for the formation of sound events for the shots of all guns (including machine guns, automatic cannons, MLRS and ATGMs) of ground vehicles has been added.
- New sounds for all machine guns on ground vehicles has been added.
- New sounds for all automatic cannons for ground vehicles has been added.
- The sounds of all guns on ground vehicles has been reworked.
- New sounds for MLRS on all ground vehicles have been added. Particularly on the BM-13 “Katyusha”.
- New sounds for ATGMs on ground vehicles have been added.
- Reverberation "tails" for the sound of firing on all guns (including machine guns, automatic cannons, MLRS and ATGMs) in order to hear the difference in calibre of the shooting gun have been added. This applies to both sides (enemy, friendlies and your own cannons).
- The dependence of the sound power of shots on all guns, MLRS and ATGMs on the density of the terrain surrounding the the vehicle. The closer and denser the buildings are, the longer will be the "tail" of the sound of the shot, and the more powerful sound the shot itself has.
- The effect of global reverberation for interior (cabin, turret) and exterior sounds (field, small buildings) for ground vehicles, aircraft and ships has been added.
- A clear difference in the sounds of all shots from the gunner's eye point (resonant turret box, mechanical parts, sleeves) and from third person view (rumbling, openness of sound) has been added for ground vehicles.
- The effect of occlusion (absorption of high frequencies and a drop in the volume of external sounds) of the gun turret/driver's cabin for ground vehicles from the eye point of the gunner/driver has been added. However, if the driver is in a closed cabin, and the gunner is in an open air position(or vice versa, in any combination) - this is accounted for by the effect.
- The dependencies of loudness of sounds of aircraft engines aircraft from distance to listener (player) have been reworked.
- Layers of ultra-low frequencies for explosions, cannon shots, crumbling structures and tank suspensions have been added.
- A new musical accompaniment for each nation in the hangar in game has been added. Also new music has been added for defeat and victory cutscenes.
Location and mission updates
- Balancing changes made to the location “Poland”: new village added to the Northeast with respawn zones in RB and SB battle modes; stone ridge added on the shore of the lake which covers respawn zone.
- Balancing changes made to the location “Eastern Europe”.
- New missions added which include larger territories - "European Province" and "Neighborhood Volokolamsk" with the locations “Eastern Europe” and “Volokolamsk”.
- Urban and rural part of the location “Maginot Line” has had significant detail added.
- New test flights for jet aircraft for the USA, Germany and Japan have been added.

Download updated War Thunder CDK kit (from 14.03.2018)
- Due to the release of update 1.77 and the reworking of the collision model with new terrain technology, all custom assets (included custom hangars) need to be optimized. You can wait until the authors have updated the content on War Thunder Live or just download the latest CDK version and reload (download and upload) assets/missions, hangars and other content.
- The basic textures for some ground vehicles have been changed. In the config of the custom camouflage you will need to change the name of the texture according to the list or download the camouflage from LIVE once again.
Economy and research
- Additional winter camouflages for US, British and German ground vehicles have been added.
- Decals for French vehicles can now be unlocked by the completion of tasks has been added.
- New achievements for French aircraft and ground vehicles have been added.
- Chieftain Mk.3 and Chieftain Mk.5 - Have been grouped into one group in the British research tree for ground vehicles.
- Panther A and Panther G have been grouped into one group in the German ground vehicles research tree.
- BB-1 - Has been moved in the research tree to the Su-2 group.
- SB 2M-105 - Has been moved in the research tree to the SB group.
Game mechanics
- Squadron squads - the opportunity to open a list and send an application to squads whose leaders are members of your squadron.
- A bug with work of the modification “air strike” in RB, where the reduction in the cost for respawn on the aircraft was dropped when losing the ground vehicle with this modification has been fixed (source). This modification will allow an additional reduction for aircraft spawn cost for each scouted player killed by an ally in game modes with respawn points.
- Changes in the PvE-mission “Assault. Tank arcade”:
- The BR mechanism has been reviewed. From now on, vehicles with BR 8.0 will be on the 5th rank
- On the 6th rank (BR 8.3+) new ground vehicles for the enemy AI have been added.
- Frequent pressing of the air strike feature in ground AB will result disabling of feature for a cooldown period.
Aircraft missions
- In all [Operation] missions, except for missions for beginners, respawn points for attackers in the air have been moved closer to the purposes of the mission.
- In all [Operation] missions bombing zone durability now depends on the number of respawns available for players (for normalisation of LOBBY mode and for events where more than one respawn is switched on).
Changes specific to the PlayStation®4 platform.
- New: backup/restore Control Presets to Save Data.
- PS Camera/Head Tracking: bug fix that prevented "looking at six" with head rotation.
- PS Camera/Head Tracking: allow sensitivity boost for improved responsiveness.
- PS Camera/Head Tracking: new button binding for resetting tracking position.
- PS Camera/Head Tracking: option to fix camera pivot point while in third-person view.
- PS Camera/Head Tracking: option to disable head translation tracking (left-right and up-down) and instead use respective axes if they are bound in settings.
- Squads: multiple fixes and improvements to invitations
Other
- The trajectory of the camera moving around the vehicle in hangar has been changed.
- Launching the game with DirectX 9 is no longer possible. We ceased support for DirectX 9 some years ago. The current minimum system requirements are published on the “System Requirements” page.
.com and .ru reported bug fixes
The bug on ground vehicles where selection of the secondary cannon caused the horizontal and vertical movement being blocked has been fixed (source).
Known Issue
Performance with some Linux configurations may be reduced.

- A bug causing allied aircraft markers in combined RB to not be displayed has been fixed.

- A bug which would result in no fragmentation damage from bombs has been fixed;
- A bug where different times of the day would be experienced by different players in the same session has been fixed;

- A bug occurring when the camera was selected from the gunner perspective (on aircraft with a single gunner), where it was possible to rotate the gunner view 360 degrees, has been fixed;

- In lobby mode for aircraft in SB (all mission types), bombers will now use a deferred reward system (a player will receive only a part of the reward for active actions in a battle, the remainder will be allocated on successful landing or when the mission ends with the player in the air). Previously, this system of reward was only used for missions in “Enduring Confrontation”.
- Changes to flight models:
- Spitfire (all variants) - Flight stability and yaw controls in AB have been improved.
- Seafire (all variants) - Flight stability and yaw controls in AB have been improved.
- Bf 109-E4/E7 - A bug which would cause lower boost during WEP engine mode has been fixed.
- Typhoon (all variants) - The acceleration of the engine’s RPM has been corrected and now accelerates evenly.
- Client stability has been improved.

- A bug where an explosion from artillery shells near a ground vehicle created high-frequency noise has been fixed.
- The sound of dropped empty casings in vehicles with recoilless rifles has been fixed (source).
- A bug where the Ho-204 had no sound after first shot has been fixed (source).
- A bug where the sounds of firing from AAA in other players vehicles was missing has been fixed (source).
- A bug where full screen mode and minimising the client caused music compositions to restart from the beginning has been fixed.
- A bug where it was possible that the sound effects could reduce performance on PCs with lower specifications has been fixed (source).

Balance changes:
- Т-64А — The following shells have been added to the researchable ammunition loadout:
- 3OF26 HE shell;
- 3BM15 APFSDS .
- Т-64B — 3OF26 HE shell has been added to the researchable ammunition loadout. 3BK12M HEATFS-shell which was obsolete for the T-64B in 1984 has been changed to 3BK18M which was put into service in 1980.
- Leopard 2K:
- Fire rate has been changed from 12 to 9 shots per minute (from 5 to 6.7 seconds per round). Note - Previous fire rate was set by lack of accurate information about reloading in the Leopard 2K cannon. Analysis of statistics has shown that the chosen fire rate was superfluous and it was decided to increase reload time based on the known values of the reloading time of tanks with 120mm cannons and similar ammunition placement.
- BR for all game modes has been changed from 8.7 to 9.0.

- Chieftain Mk.10 — The number of shells in the first-order ammo rack has been changed from 3 to 18..
- M48A1, M60, M103 - The thickness of the rangefinder armour (based on the thickness of the M47 armour) has been changed to 16mm.

- Progress for Special Battle Tasks can now be tracked on the “Battle Tasks” button.

Enduring Confrontation mode updates:
- The frontline’s mechanics has been reworked, and ‘encircling’ has been added;
- A new PvP template has been added: "Air supremacy";
- Ground battles will now start only after the successful completion of an "Air supremacy" type template;
- Tasks for the destruction of airfields are no longer displayed in the task log;
- The location “Sicily” has returned to the rotation of EC locations;
- An aircraft carrier has been added for the Allied team on the location “Sicily”;
- The range by which enemies will be detected/seen by airfield defenders has been increased;
- A new EC mission, “Sector of Montmedy”, has been added.

Aircraft missions
- In “Ground Strike (light vehicles)” Arcade Battle missions, the altitude of bomber spawn locations has been changed. Now bombers will respawn 700 meters above the fighters (previously the excess was 2 km). Ordinary “Ground Strike” missions have been not changed.
- In the mission “[Operation] Malta” some changes were made to increase the mission time to average values - new units have been added for both teams and the existing units were regrouped.
- The capturing speed of the zone in the “Enduring Confrontation” mode has been increased. Now the zone will be fully captured in 300 seconds (was 450).
Other
- A bug where the damaged barrels of the automatic cannons could be displayed incorrectly in X-ray has been fixed.
- A bug where there was a jitter of decorations by rotating the turret has been fixed.
- A bug where in some rare cases, first generation ATGMs would not correctly follow the control commands has been fixed.
- Client stability has been improved.

- The range of remote controlled torpedoes has been changed:
- UGST: From 10 to 5,5 km.
- Mk48: From 12 to 6 km.
- Spearfish: From 12 to 5 km.
- The range of capturing for torpedoes with homing heads in the active mode has been changed from 2,4-1,6 km (depending on the type of target) to 600-700 m.
- The acoustic visibility of all submarines at maximum speed has been reduced.
- Sector scanning for torpedoes with homing heads on horizontal has been changed from 360° to 120° (for active mode for torpedoes with homing heads) and to 150° (for passive mode).

- A bug relating to unresearched vehicle modifications, where the parameters indicating the improvements that respective modifications would bring would show negative values, as opposed to positive values, has been fixed.

- A bug where in some rare cases. the “Show content in the battle” setting (responsible toggling the display of historical/non historical content or camouflages etc) not being shown in the options menu has been fixed.
- Damage from exploding aircraft fuel tanks has been switched off in AB for ground vehicles.

- The visual effects of different ammo types hitting targets has been improved
Sound:
- The general sound effect has been changed in reducing the sharpness of some sounds.
- Engine volume of allied aircraft and enemy aircraft has been reduced.
- Engine volume of aircraft in 3rd person view has been increased.
- The sudden cutting of some sounds has been fixed.
- The algorithm of frequency filling of reverberation tails with sounds of shots depending on the surface and buildings has been changed.
Enduring Confrontation:
- A new type of air zone capture mechanic in the mission “Air supremacy” has been introduced: now, if both teams are in the zone, the capture progress will not reset. Instead, the capture progress will be continued for whichever team has more vehicles in the zone, and when an equal amount of vehicles for each team is in the capture zone, capture progress will not move either way.
- The mechanism which generates new tasks will now refrain from allowing the same type of task starting several times in a row.
- All known issues with the unevenness of the landscape of airfields on both Enduring Confrontation missions on the location “Zhengzhou” have been fixed.
- Additional visuals for sectors on the mission map have been added. Sectors that don’t participate in the formation of the front line (because they are impassable for troops and battles can not be generated on them) are now outlined in white.
