Although the PT-16/T14 mod. is a medium tank, it plays much more like a light tank or tank destroyer due to its extremely thin armour. All main tank guns at the rank can penetrate you almost anywhere regardless of ammunition type, although while hull-down the breech can eat a few shots. Try to expose the turret as little as possible, as a shot to the right side of the turret will knock out the gunner and commander and a shot to the left has a good chance of detonating the ammunition in the ready rack. The KPz Prototyp PT-16/T14 mod. is a gift rank VII German medium tank with a battle rating of 10.3 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced during Update "Direct Hit" as a reward for the 2021 Export Order event.

  • Rack 2 is a first stage ammo rack. It totals 9 shells and gets filled first when loading up the tank.
  • This rack is also emptied early: the rack depletion order at full capacity is 2 - 1.

Usage in battles

Due to its good mobility and fast-firing cannon, this tank is perfectly suited for flanking enemy positions or sniping from afar. With its poor armour protection and large frontal ammo rack, taking this tank into a head-on fight is often very dangerous, but it can be a very dangerous run-and-gun tank if the driver has quick reflexes and good target acquisition.

The high-magnification sights and the laser rangefinder that automatically adjusts the barrel allow you to easily make long-range accurate shots. However, since protection is almost non-existent, you need to keep moving to avoid being hit by concentrated fire (almost impossible to survive), unless you find a very good shooting position that can avoid the attack of most places and can stop the enemy from intercepting outside the battle zone.

Due to the lack of thermal imaging, you cannot find the enemy in a complex environment very well, and you need very good eyesight, but because of the 8-16x high-zoom sight, this makes up for some of the disadvantages of searching for the enemy caused by the lack of thermal imaging.

Due to the poor protection, you should avoid moving in the crowd as much as possible, stay away from the crowd as much as possible, go to the edge area, or hide in the crowd to reduce movement as much as possible, use sneak attack tactics, don't fight on the front line, because your round is not that good yet (when 10.3 most everyone got 120mm dm33 level ammo or better and 10.0 most game will meet 10.3 or 10.7).Most of the enemies in this BR have good protection, especially Russian vehicles. They can usually easily protect against 120MM DM33 or above ammunition, or even 120MM DM43. 120MM DM23 is not very competitive in this room (your competitiveness mainly comes from the fast reload of 4S, which you paid for with protection and other auxiliary equipment. Make good use of your 4S reload advantage.)

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Great mobility (maybe the Fastest at 10.0 br cause Reverse gearbox and 56.67/29.7 AB/RB Power-to-weight ratio)
  • An intermediate level gun but with 4S high speed reload with autoloader.
  • Good at longrange battle cause 8-16 high zoom sniper scope and laser rangefinder for automatic gun adjustment.

Cons:

  • Poor armour protection overall , any hit most kill you with one shot even Small caliber weapons like 25mm m242 or 25mm KBA-B02 and 57MM 2A90(from 2s38,there lot 2s38 at 10.0 br)
  • Stock HEATFS shell
  • No thermal sights
  • No Smoke Launcher when this br lot AGM65 or AGM114,Unable to hide your exact location during an enemy cas.
  • No Anti-aircraft machine gun,Can't hit the helicopter above you.
  • Small first stage ammo storage of 9 rounds, additional ammo is kept at the front of hull presenting a large weak spot.

History

Devblog:

During the development of the Leopard 2 project, German engineers came up with several different hull and turret designs as well as respective combinations. This led to equally many different prototype designs being tested. Among these experimental versions was the Leopard chassis with the PT-14 turret, developed by Krauss-Maffei in the early 1980s.

The peculiarity of this design was the presence of an autoloading mechanism for the cannon, giving it an extremely high rate of fire. Despite undergoing exhaustive tests in Germany, the autoloader wasn't adopted in the final design of the Leopard 2 and the concept remained just a prototype.
