Usage in battles

Describe the tactics of playing in the aircraft, the features of using aircraft in a team and advice on tactics. History

History

The F-15E Strike Eagle was developed as a multirole strike fighter, building on the air superiority-focused design of the original F-15 Eagle. Its origins trace back to the 1970s, when the U.S. Air Force sought a replacement for the F-111 Aardvark, a fighter-bomber with extended range and payload capacity. McDonnell Douglas proposed the F-15E, a dual-role variant capable of excelling in air-to-air combat while also delivering significant ground-attack capabilities.

The F-15E made its first flight in December 1986 and entered service in 1988. It featured reinforced airframes to handle increased weight from additional fuel and weaponry, conformal fuel tanks (CFTs) for extended range, and an advanced radar and targeting system for precision strikes. A two-seat configuration allowed the pilot to focus on flying while the Weapon Systems Officer (WSO) managed targeting and electronic warfare systems.

Combat Usage

The F-15E debuted in combat during the 1991 Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm), where it demonstrated its multirole effectiveness. Strike Eagles carried out precision bombing missions against Iraqi command centers, Scud missile launchers, and critical infrastructure. Equipped with GPS-guided munitions and advanced targeting pods, the F-15E delivered remarkable accuracy in night and all-weather operations. It also proved capable in air-to-air engagements, shooting down several enemy aircraft with AIM-7 Sparrow and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles.

Since the Gulf War, the F-15E has participated in numerous conflicts, including operations in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. Its versatility allows it to perform close air support (CAS), interdiction, and deep-strike missions with a broad array of modern weapons.
