The turret consists of variable thickness armour ranging from 89 - 198mm. In some place near the cannon breech can even reach 230-280mm. Turret front ranging from near the gun consists of 177.5mm Cast homogenous plate but because of volumetric shell, cannon breech and optics enemy shell might not penetrate through here and cause significant damage to crew members. There are not many weak spot on the turret except the rear and side rear as there is only 160mm effective thickness there and rear of 127mm effective thickness. Any shell hitting turret from the side or rear will most likely knock out all of your crew members in the turret. And as there are also First-stage ammo rack on the left side of the turret any shell hitting there have a high chance of ammunition explosion as well.

T26E5 use the same 90mm M3 as the M36, T25 or the M26. Once unlocked, the T26E5 will have APBC as it's default shell. The APBC have a decent characteristic but because it's doesn't have explosive filler It's should be replaced by APCBC as soon as possible. APCR can be used to penetrate some heavily armoured vehicle such as [[Ferdinand]], [[Jagdtiger]] or [[Tiger II (H)]] but the player should be aware of the poor post-penetration damage of the shell. Thus, player should always aim to disarm the target first if they wish to use APCR. HE shell can be used to damage lightly armoured vehicle and Smoke shell can be used to provide smoke cover for player or teammates.

Usage in battles

Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).

Pros and cons

Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".

Cons:

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the vehicle in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the vehicle and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />. This section may also include the vehicle's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===, also if applicable).

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
