In 1985, a BO 105 CB with tail number S-422 and registration D-HDMU was modernised to participate in the Swedish army's competition for a new anti-tank helicopter. The machine was equipped with a BGM-71 TOW anti-tank missile system, as well as new optics, receiving the designation BO 105 CB-2. After successfully passing the tests, the helicopter returned to Germany, and Sweden created their own version, the HKP9A.

The BO 105 CB-2 was introduced as a premium pack in Update 1.83 "Masters of the Sea". Like all aircraft in the BO 105 family, it boasts excellent manoeuvrability, allowing it to easily take advantage of various terrain features to launch ATGMs from unexpected directions, then quickly withdraw under the cover of the surrounding terrain. It can carry up to eight decent ATGMs with reasonable range, and is also able to equip countermeasures, allowing the BO 105 CB-2 to defend against IR missiles and some SPAA radars. However, the lack of armour protection means that the helicopter is extremely vulnerable to enemy aircraft and anti-aircraft fire.

The two main armaments that you will end up using are the 8 BGM-71 TOWs and the 4 BGM-71 TOWs with the FN F3P gun pod with the three FFAR Mighty Mouses. The second load out is used in the mid game and late game time frames when there are vehicles that can shoot you down.
 +
 +
When using the TOWs there are a couple of ways to play with them. The first is the standard hover behind a mountain or hill then fly up fire one or two missiles than reposition and repeat. Another way to play is similar to the SA.313B Alouette where you will put your collective between 50%-60% and angle down and as you fly over the battlefield you strike enemy tank, this strategy requires a bit of luck and knowledge of how the BGM-71 TOWs work.

 +
Another way to play is to carry the two FN F3P gun pods with the six FFAR Mighty Mouses and use ground belts to strike lightly armoured vehicles such as the BMPs, Object 685, Rooikat, and HSTV-L.

BO 105 CB-2

Description

The BO 105 CB-2 was removed from sale after the 2019 New Year sale. It has since been made available for purchase with Golden Eagles Ge icon.png during the 2023 and 2024 "First Flight of the Bo 105" flash sales.

Usage in battles

The two main armaments that you will end up using are the 8 BGM-71 TOWs and the 4 BGM-71 TOWs with the FN F3P gun pod with the three FFAR Mighty Mouses. The first load out is used as an early game strike load out when there is a lack of enemy SPAA, helicopters, and planes. Another way to play is to carry the two FN F3P gun pods with the six FFAR Mighty Mouses and use ground belts to strike lightly armoured vehicles such as the BMPs, Object 685, Rooikat, and HSTV-L.

Pros and cons

Pros:

 • Small fuselage that is harder to hit
 • Very good manoeuvrability
 • Highest ATGM count of the premium V era helicopters

Cons:

 • Slower speed than most attack helicopters

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the helicopter in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the vehicle and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using , as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />. This section may also include the vehicle's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===, also if applicable).
