Description
The AMX-13 VTT DCA (Défense Contre Avion) is a rank II French SPAA with a battle rating of 3.0 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced in Update "Alpha Strike".
General info
Survivability and armour
The ATV's DCA armour is weak and will only withstand the MG. Unlike the CCKW 353 AA, its crew is not in the open air but protected by armour, however thin it may be. It is rather small and will hide easily in bushes.
Armour type:
- Rolled homogeneous armour (Hull, Turret)
- Cast homogeneous armour (Transmission area)
- Structural steel (Tracks, Additional Armour of 4 mm)
Armour | Front (Slope angle) | Sides | Rear | Roof |
---|---|---|---|---|
Hull | 20 mm (31°) Upper Glacis - Cheeks 20 mm (27°) Upper Glacis - Top 20 mm (66°) Upper Glacis - Bottom 40 mm (6-40°) Lower Glacis - Transmission 15 mm (84°) Lower Glacis - Bottom |
20 mm (0-40°) Top 20 mm Bottom |
10 mm Rear side of center hull 15 mm Rear plate |
10 mm Around the turret 10 mm Floor under the turret 10 mm (40-90°) Rear 15 mm (65°) Lower Glacis in rear |
Turret | 6.35 mm (spherical) Turret front | 6.35 mm + 6.35 mm Turret structure | N/A | N/A |
Notes:
- Turret is 6.35 mm thick and tracks are 15 mm thick.
- There are two 10 mm (87°) plates inside the tank, on the edges.
Mobility
Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and manoeuvrability, as well as the maximum speed forwards and backwards.

Armaments
Main armament
Give the reader information about the characteristics of the main gun. Assess its effectiveness in a battle based on the reloading speed, ballistics and the power of shells. Do not forget about the flexibility of the fire, that is how quickly the cannon can be aimed at the target, open fire on it and aim at another enemy. Add a link to the main article on the gun: {{main|Name of the weapon}}
. Describe in general terms the ammunition available for the main gun. Give advice on how to use them and how to fill the ammunition storage.

Usage in battles
Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).
Pros and cons
Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".

History
Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the vehicle in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the vehicle and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>
, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />
. This section may also include the vehicle's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===
, also if applicable).
Devblog
Based on the AMX-13 light tank, the VTT armored personnel carrier was developed and launched into mass production in 1957. As this chassis was widely produced it became quite a suitable platform for numerous experimental variants, a notable example being the AMX-13 VTT / DCA (Véhicule de Transport de Troupe/Défense Contre Avions). It was armed with an American M45 .50 caliber quadmount, the same found on the iconic M16 Half-track. Unlike the M16 however, the VTT DCA was only a single prototype and didn't reach mass production.
Media
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
