General info
The G-RX2 or more commonly known as its adopted designation the 533 mm Type 89 Torpedo is a wire-guided torpedo that features both active and passive homing modes. Its full maximum range is 50 km at 40 kn speed (never been achievable in-game yet) or at full speed of 50 kn at a range of still impressive 39 km.
Effective damage
For avid Japanese naval players the damage potential seems underwhelming for having only 267 kg of TNT which compared to the infamous Type 93 Model 1 or upgraded Type 93 Model 3 only having a third of the explosive filler of a Model 1 and a fifth of that compared to the Model 3.
This doesn't make the torpedo any bad but it doesn't have the same one-shot capability as it still is a light weight torpedo with advanced radar, sensor and propulsion systems limiting HE filler, meant to sink vessels compared to simply blowing them up, at which in its own right does it perfectly well.
