Description | MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Lance Cpl. Thomas Watt, a gunner with 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, positions the M1A1 Abram Main Battle Tank’s main gun on target. Gunner uses three main sights to accurately fire the main cannon: the gunner’s primary sight (GPS), a night vision Thermal Imaging System (TIS), which creates an image based on the difference of heat radiated by objects in the field-of-view, and the gunner’s auxiliary sight (GAS), a fixed sight used as a contingency.
