Description

The Peacock-class, LÉ Orla (P41) is a premium rank British sub-chaser with a battle rating of (AB), (RB), and (SB). It was introduced in Update "Direct Hit".

General info

Survivability and armour

Talk about the vehicle's armour. Note the most well-defended and most vulnerable zones, e.g. the ammo magazine. Armament

Primary armament

the 76mm Oto Melara medium caliber naval armament is the main armament of this ship. It is capable if engaging naval targets at ranges of up to 17km with a high degree of precision. It is fully stabilized gun , using a RADAMEC fire control system, capable of engaging naval, air, or shore based targets.

The weapon system originated in Italy, entering service in 1984 (Irish Naval Service). It has a fire rate of 85 rounds per minute, with a weight of a single shell being approx. 12kg

Secondary armament

The Rheinmetall 20 mm Rh- 202 Naval Cannon offers precise close range firepower. It has a high rate of fire, approx. 1030 rounds per minute with high accuracy. It has a variety of specialist ammunition available, allowing it to be used for both close range naval fire support as well as an inti-air point defence. It entered service (Irish Naval Service ) in 1984, with a range of 2km.

It is also armed with Browning 12.7 Heavy Machine guns as well as a FN MAG General Purpose Machine Gun.

Anti-aircraft armament

An important part of the ship's armament responsible for air defence. Anti-aircraft armament is defined by the weapon chosen with the control Select anti-aircraft weapons. History

The L.É. ORLA was a former British Royal Navy patrol vessel stationed in the waters of Hong Kong, called the HMS SWIFT.

She was purchased by the Irish State in 1988, and given the name of L.É. ORLA The name of Orla is taken from Irish History, with it being a very popular name in the 12th Century in Ireland. The Namesake, Orla, has a strong connection with a historical king of Ireland, Brian Boru, with Orla being a grand niece of the king

The L.É. Orla is still in service with the Irish Naval service.

A notable call to fame for the L.É. Orla was that she was involved in the seizure of the biggest drug bust in the history of the state at the time, in 1993.
