General info

Survivability and armour

Describe armour protection. Note the most well protected and key weak areas. Appreciate the layout of modules as well as the number and location of crew members. Is the level of armour protection sufficient, is the placement of modules helpful for survival in combat? If necessary use a visual template to indicate the most secure and weak zones of the armour.

Mobility

Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and manoeuvrability, as well as the maximum speed forwards and backwards.

Game Mode Max Speed (km/h) Weight (tons) Engine power (horsepower) Power-to-weight ratio (hp/ton)
Forward Reverse Stock Upgraded Stock Upgraded

Armaments

Main armament

Give the reader information about the characteristics of the main gun. Assess its effectiveness in a battle based on the reloading speed, ballistics and the power of shells. Do not forget about the flexibility of the fire, that is how quickly the cannon can be aimed at the target, open fire on it and aim at another enemy. Add a link to the main article on the gun: {{main|Name of the weapon}}. Describe in general terms the ammunition available for the main gun. Advise about how to use them and how to fill the ammunition storage.

Additional armament

Some tanks are armed with several guns in one or more turrets. Evaluate the additional weaponry and give advice on its use. Describe the ammunition available for additional weaponry. Give advice on about how to use them and how to fill the ammunition storage. If there is no additional weaponry remove this subsection.

Machine guns

Offensive and anti-aircraft machine guns not only allow you to fight some aircraft but also are effective against lightly armoured vehicles. Evaluate machine guns and give recommendations on its use.

Usage in battles

Stormartillerivagn m/43 (1946) - Sav for short

The Sav m/43 (1946) is a Rank II Swedish anti-tank vehicle with a 105mm gun.  Unlike other anti-tank designs of this sort the Sav has a closed crew compartment so your crew is much safer from Artillary and machine gun fire.  So capping a zone is something you can do.

Like other Swedish tanks of this rank the stock ammo leaves much to be desired.  A quick look at the penetration table for the slpprj m/44 round will show that is has very low numbers even against flat surfaces.  Thankfully there is a VERY good HEAT round to be unlocked in the Level II modules.  That round penetrates flat surfaces at 240mm and a 60 degree slop at 120mm, so you can penetrate any and everything you hit.  Just like every other HEAT round: It is the hitting part that is tricky.  Make sure you know your distance to target (use your range finder) because the reload time is 10.6 seconds and your crew skills do not improve that.

Once you unlock Tracks and Filters the vehicle is light enough to move very well and can get to any postiion in a reasonable time to setup an ambush.  The elevation range of the gun allows for going "hull down" on the back side of a slope with -14 degrees of depression.  The front armor is thick enough to stop some rounds but do not count on it to protect you from the Pz.IVF2.  But the Sherman and T-34 at Rank II will have to aim for soft parts to penetrate as long as you angle or go hull down.  Do not expose your sides or rear to the enemy because the armor for them is 13mm and 15mm respectively and ammo is everywhere inside the hull and turret area.  Like all other vehicles in the game you should only take the ammo you need for the match and reload In-game at capture points if you run out.  This will cut down on the amount of rounds that could be hit if you get shot.  Due to the slow reload time 10 rounds should do the trick for most matches and make sure at least 1 is an HE round in case you run into an SPAA.  You don't have a machine gun to deal with them so your only hope is to kill that crew with a big BOOM from that HE round.

Since the turret does not slew (turn left and right) you have to use the tracks to help get the gun pointed in the proper direction.  There is nothing special about the left\right traverse so you can get used to it in a test drive.  In a match, once you get to a position you want to stay in, be sure to test your traverse angles to be sure you can cover the area you want to shoot into.  This will allow you to know that you might need to move tracks to get a shot on someone coming from a particullar direction.  Depending on your crew skills and modules unlocked, you might need to use tracks to align your gun anyway due to it's traverse speed.

Put all that together with the HEAT round and you are a factor to be dealt with on the battlefield.

Pros and cons

Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the vehicle in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the vehicle and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />. This section may also include the vehicle's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===, also if applicable).

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
