Description

The Char 2c is a Rank 2 French heavy tank with a battle rating of 2.3(AB/RB/SB) and was introduced in Update "Sky Guardians". it is one of the largest tanks in the game and by far the largest at its BR, with an extremely large crew, big tracks, and an open interior, it can take a beating while providing allies cover or opportunities to attack enemies who are attacking you.

General info

Survivability and armour

Armour type: all armor on the tank is rolled homogeneous armor, except the gun ports and the entrance ports, which are cast homogeneous armor

Cupola 22mm 22mm 22 mm 22mm

Notes:

although it is difficult to find a reliable weak point on the Char 2C, the sides of the tank are lined with fuel tanks, which means that hitting one can cause a chain reaction of explosions inside that can ruin a 2C player's day.

Mobility

The mobility of the Char 2C is nonexistent, weighing 70 tons with a 440-500 hp engine depending on mods, it has one of the slowest top speeds in the game, at only 9 mph, along with a very thin width between tracks allowing for very slow turning.

Armaments

Main armament

Although the HEFG shell is subpar with only 11 mm of penetration, the ap shell is slightly above average, so using ap shells is a must while bringing a few HEFG shells along with for dealing with open topped tank destroyers or aa/spgs with exposed crew members, while having farther shot distance than the 2C bis, it is still below average.

Usage in battles

The Char 2c, while slow, is an extremely difficult target to take down, although its gun isnt as deadly as its premium variant, the Char 2C bis, it can hit at a much longer range, since it is the non-premium french "wall" it should be played as one, covering up corridors with your massive tracks and shooting down anyone who attempts to push you out of the way, and by killing those enemies you can make your homemade wall even harder to get past even after death, because all thought you are dead, the tank still weighs 70 tons, another use is providing mobile cover for damaged tanks to repair behind.

Pros and cons

Pros: Massive tracks make the vulnerable areas of the tank extremely hard to target

Large crew and ample space inside the tank makes even high-pen frag shells have trouble killing more than one crew member

Large "scenery" on the tank makes it hard to spot weak points until you waste a shot

Cons: huge target and easy to hit

large tracks make immobilizing the tank a breeze

Very slow at top speed and a 70 ton weight makes getting up to it time consuming

large blind spot behind the main gun

Rear machine gun is inadequate for defense aside from the occasional SPAA enemies

History

(copy-pasted from the 2C bis page) The FCM 2C was a French "super heavy" tank designed to conquer the "no man's land" of WW1. It was dimensionally the largest tank ever produced, and for a time the heaviest. Ready for production by February 1918, the war ended before any of the vehicles were completed, and so the order of 300 was eventually reduced to just 10, finished in 1921. The standard 2C mounted a 75 mm APX 1897 field gun, similar to the cannon which would be mounted on the M3 GMC tank destroyer. The 2C had many innovative design features for the time, including a hybrid drive, leaf spring suspension, the world's first three-man turret, and stroboscopic cupolas. All of the 2Cs were named after ancient regions of France.

One 2C, No. 99 "Champagne", was given a new two-man cast turret with a 155 mm howitzer. The commander was given his own compartment behind the turret. The side machine gun ports were also removed. This variant would be known as the 2C bis. Eventually, Champagne would be returned to its original configuration and its turret would be used as a makeshift static emplacement in the Mareth Line. Champagne would be the only 2C to survive the invasion of France, with the other nine tanks either being scuttled by their own crew to prevent capture, or breaking down.

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
