After gaining speed, you side-climb up to 2500 - 3000 meters then head to the center. When you're finally in the center, you've already gained speed by accelerating. Then, you commence BnZ tactics. Dive, engage, zoom up to 2500 - 3000 meters, loop around, look for a suitable target, rinse and repeat. If you find yourself in a bad situation where you can't use BnZ tactics, then your last resort would be turning.

Survivability and armour

  • 40 mm Bulletproof glass in cockpit front.
  • 13.5 mm Steel plate in the nose.
  • 13.5 mm Steel plates behind the pilot.

Armaments

Main article: M50 (20 mm)

The M.D.450B Ouragan is armed with:

  • 4 x 20 mm M50 cannons (125 RPG = 500 total)

The four machine guns are clustered on the underside of the fuselage, directly below the pilot. Each are armed with the same amount of ammunition, which means that all guns will fire with each other until empty.

Suspended armament

The M.D.450B Ouragan utilize external pylons to carry various configurations of:

  • None
  • 2 x 500 lb AN-M64A1 bombs
  • 2 x 1,000 lb AN-M65A1 Fin M129 bombs
  • 16 x T10 140 rockets
  • 16 x T10 151 rockets

Usage in battles

The M.D.450B Ouragan is mainly a Boom & Zoom aircraft. It retains in vertical turns and Boom & Zoom manoeuvres well. When you takeoff, gain speed. After gaining speed, you side-climb up to 2,500 - 3,000 meters then head to the centre. When you're finally in the centre, you've already gained speed by accelerating. Then, you commence Boom & Zoom tactics. Dive, engage, zoom up to 2,500 - 3,000 meters, loop around, look for a suitable target, rinse and repeat. If you find yourself in a bad situation where you cannot use Boom & Zoom tactics, then your last resort would be turning as this bleeds speed and causes the M.D.450 to be an easy target.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Good manoeuvrability, especially between 500 kph and 600 kph
  • Good roll rate
  • Nose-mounted guns
  • Does not compress much below 900 kph
  • Down-tiered often, very capable aircraft against lower-ranked aircraft
  • Strong and effective flaps
  • M50 20 mm cannons excel with "Air Targets" belts
  • Easy to fly and land with a ripped wingtip

Cons:

  • Stock performance is lacking
  • Wingtips rip easily in a dive
  • Slow compared to contemporaries
  • Extremely heavy compression above 970kmh
  • Poor acceleration
  • M50 20 mm cannons tend to "spark" and are less effective with "Default" ammo belts, "Air Targets" belts have no tracers

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the aircraft in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too big, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the vehicle and adding a block "/ History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article. This section may also include the vehicle's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === Encyclopedia Info ===, also if applicable).

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
