Introducing Wiki 3.0

Description

Write an introduction to the article in 2-3 small paragraphs. Briefly tell us about the history of the development and combat using the weaponry and also about its features. Compile a list of air, ground, or naval vehicles that feature this weapon system in the game.

General info

While it is a cannon from 1914, it may seem weird that it comes with HESH. In reality, it's a flawed HEAT charge that has a poor fuze that would bend & mold the soft metal without fuzing and directly detonate the explosive matter the moment it impacts the target, acting as HESH without the chemical effect.

Comparison with analogues

Give a comparative description of cannons/machine guns that have firepower equal to this weapon.

Usage in battles

Describe the cannon/machine gun in the game - its distinctive features, tactics of usage against notable opponents. Please don't write a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but give the reader food for thought.

The Mod. 1914 is a strange weapon in that it is a solidly mediocre weapon mounted on a terrible platform. The Howitzer is difficult to learn and does not lend itself to learning easily. That being said, it has the benefit of being able to one shot most vehicles at its rank. Care should be taken not to aim at gun barrels, because these will reduce the lethality of the impact of the shell unless it is open topped, in which case such an impact will not likely matter. Take care to aim your shells at locations in which the enemy crew or shells will take the most damage, resulting in a one shot kill, though sometimes hitting at those locations is not needed for this affect.

In the tank destroyer role the Mod. 1914 will usually have a slower fire rate, so care should be taken to have maxxed out the reloading and leadership skills, as well as ace status to ensure the fire rate is as high as possible. The arcing trajectory means that it is uniquely suited to go after tanks in the hull down position, and can even be used to provide indirect fire for your team, though this will require extensive practice.

In short, the Mod. 1914 is not the best weapon, but can perform if you play to its strengths and be aware of its weaknesses.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Powerful shells that will critically damage or outright knock out tanks
  • Arcing trajectory can be used to put down fire on tanks in hull down positions
  • Access to a HESH shell at rank I

Cons:

  • Long reload time
  • Howitzer behaves differently than cannon; more difficult to learn drop
  • Large size makes it easy to damage

History

Examine the history of the creation and combat usage of the weapon in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the weapon and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Weapon-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />.

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
