Description

The RBU-1200 is a Soviet an anti-submarine rocket (ASROC) launcher. It was introduced in Update "Hot Tracks".

Vehicles equipped with this weapon

General info

The RBU-1200 is an anti-submarine rocket launcher system that fires 213 mm rockets equipped with depth charges. The launcher system itself is typically mounted on the deck of a ship and can fire up to 12 rockets in rapid succession.

Each rocket is propelled by a solid-fuel rocket motor and has a range of approximately 1,500 m. The rocket is unguided and uses a simple impact fuse to detonate its depth charge payload upon impact with the water. The depth charge itself is designed to sink to a predetermined depth before exploding, creating a shockwave that can damage or destroy a submarine.

The RBU-1200 launcher system is equipped with a simple sighting system to help the operator aim the rockets at the target. The operator can adjust the angle of the launcher to compensate for changes in range or depth.

Effective damage

Describe the type of damage produced by this type of rocket (high explosive, splash damage, etc)

Comparison with analogues

Give a comparative description of rockets that have firepower equal to this weapon.

Usage in battles

Describe situations when you would utilise this rocket in-game (vehicle, pillbox, base, etc)

Pros and cons

Summarise and briefly evaluate the weaponry in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark pros and cons as a list.

Pros:

  • High destructive power
  • Fires a barrage of depth charges that can quickly destroy a enemy

Cons:

  • Unguided rockets limit the precision of the weapon
  • Relies on the operator's skill and judgment to aim the rockets accurately

History

The Soviet Navy received the British Mark 10 Hedgehog Mortar through lend-lease from the British during World War II. After the war ended, they began developing their own improved version of this weapon system to destroy enemy submarines, which became the RBU-1000. In 1955, an improved version of the design came out for smaller vessels the RBU-1200. The RBU-1200 is a five-tube launcher controlled by a PUS-B "Uragan" (Slavic for "hurricane") fire control system. The RBU-1200 projectiles used solid rocket fuel for launches and were also intended for use against enemy torpedoes. The weapon was notably used on the Pr.201 and Pr.12412 which were both dedicated ASW patrol craft classes.

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
