Comparison with analogues

Give a comparative description of cannons/machine guns that have firepower equal to this weapon.

Usage in battles

Describe the cannon/machine gun in the game - its distinctive features, tactics of usage against notable opponents. Please don't write a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but give the reader food for thought.

Pros and cons

Summarise and briefly evaluate the weaponry in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark pros and cons as a list.

History

The Mark 14 is an improved version of the 8 inch/55 Mark 9 with a chromium-lined barrel to increase the barrel service and a smaller chamber that had a rifling of 1 turn in 25 inches instead of 1 in 35. These changes were done to improve the accuracy of the United States Navy's 8-inch guns. The guns were primarily used for retrofitting onto earlier heavy cruisers armed with the Mark 9 such as the Pensacola-class, the four ships of the Northampton-class still in service, the Portland-class, and the USS New Orleans. These guns would service throughout World War II. One interesting footnote in the story of the Mark 14 is the fate of one turret on the USS Louisville, a Northampton-class heavy cruiser. In January of 1945, while assigned to the Lingayen Gulf to support the US landings on the Philippine Island of Luzon, it came under kamikaze attack. The first attack knocked out the No. 2 turret which was removed from the ship permanently when it was repaired. The turret was then refitted to serve as a rotating radiation detector at the Nevada Test Site.

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
