-In 1941 Flygvapnet wanted a new modern torpedobomber that would be able to drop aerial torpedo. SAAB recommended the Saab 18 as the frame to be the base of the new torpedobomber, B 18A was first option considered due to it being slower so it would be able to drop the Torpedo's that the Swedish nation had. But B 18A's bomber bay was deemed too small for a Torpedo to fit in there.
