-Originally developed and manufactured by Austrian company Böhler, the gun was license produced by various Italian companies such as Breda or Ansaldo under name Cannone da 47/32 mod.35 and further developed. It was used as main armament of M13/40, M14/41 medium tanks and Semovente L.40 da 47/32 self-propelled gun. The 47/32 was manufactured in two versions, first with semi-pneumatic disk wheels and second manufactured from 1939 with improved suspension and barrel. L3 series tankettes or Fiat-OCI 708 CM tractors were used to tow the gun. Unfortunately the gun was prone to breaking at axles spindles and shanks. It had performance comparable to contemporaries such as German PaK 36, British Ordnance QF 2-pounder or Soviet 53-K. However the gun also had few major drawbacks such as no gun shield protecting the crew and no ability to be towed by truck. Upgraded version of 47/32 was made by enlarging the ammunition chamber and incorporating longer L/40 barrel. It was named 47/40 and was mounted on M15/42 medium tanks.
