History
The development of the BO 105 light utility helicopter started in 1964 by the Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm company. The prototype made it's first flight in the 16 february of 1967. The design was known for it's very good maneuvrability, allowing them for aerobatic show purposes (Red Bull for instance). It had a good load capacity, a decent speed, and nice, steady and responsive controls, as well as good flight behaviours.

In 1975, the German Army, interested in the design, commissionned a BO 105 armed with wire controlled HOT ATGMs for anti-tank purposes, thus creating the BO 105 PAH-1. The newer HOT-2 ATGMs were installed in the PAH-1A1 variant. This helicopter however was considerated as a temporary solution, while waiting for a proper anti-tank platform (what would become the EC-665 Tiger UHT)

The BO-105 didn't really had proper combat services: it is presumed to have been used by Indonesian forces, in the Papua conflict and the 1999 East Timorese crisis. The helicopter was almost exclusively used in civillian roles such as EMS.

The Mi-24 development started in the early 1960s by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant company, with a very controversial start. Several Soviet officers believed that conventional weapons were a safer choice to spend money in. But seeing the successfull use of armed helicopters in Vietnam by the US Army convinced the Soviets about the capacities of armed helicopters, thus shown support for Mil's project.

Two prototypes were eventually done: a 7-ton single-engine design and a 10.5-ton twin-engined one.
In May 1968, the twin-engine mock up was chosen for further development. The project made his first flight in September 1968, and entered service bearing the name of Mi-24 in 1972.

The Mi-24P variant was a later development of the Mi-24D, featuring a new fixed 30mm twin-barrel GSh-30-2K cannon instead of the old 12.7mm machinegun turret.

The helicopter first saw combat service in Ogaden War and in the Chadian-Libyan Conflict, used by the Ethiopian and Lybian forces respectively. The Mi-24 proven to be very effective in ground infantry support duties, even managing to save a company of infantry while out of ammo, scaring the rebels by maneuvering aggressively towards them! It was very popular amoung the ground troops.
The Mi-24P's modernized variant, the Mi-35, is still in use to this day in various countries, including Russia.
The name is a rank rank British light tank Battle-rating. It was introduced in Update "Ixwa Strike".

The Ratel 90 is an IFV designed to provide fire support for the Mechanized South African Battalions in combat. It was modified to this duty with the identical turret found on the Eland 90 Mk.7.

With a needed playstyle keen to recon and opportunistic target eliminations by flanking, the Ratel 90 is currently the fastest vehicle available for the British tree at the rank.

Unfortunately, the vehicle is fast not because of a good engine, but instead because of the cutback of any armour. Players accustomed to holding off some shells in similar ranked vehicles as the Tortoise will have troubles surviving in this IFV. So instead it shall be played similarly to the Charioteer, now with more cooperative abilities as the scouting.
Usage in battles
<!-- Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB). -->

The Ratel 90 is a vehicle that should be used primarily in a support or defensive role. In the support role, it is recommended that you stick with your teammates, specifically behind them. Focus on scouting targets for your team. You should stay behind your teammates due to the vehicle's lack of armour, ineffective even against small arms. In the defensive role, you chose a firing spot and cover a certain line of sight with a cover nearby, peaking out only to fire. In both roles, you should make extensive use of your binoculars to scan for and scout targets.

Pros and cons
<!-- Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective". -->

Pros:

* Great penetration and adequate ballistics; currently the first accessible vehicle in the British ranks with HEAT rounds
* Adequate mobility once fully upgraded (on roads and optimal terrains)
* Scouting, smoke grenades and smoke shells provide great supporting abilities
* Large vehicle size helps with the 90 mm gun recoil

Cons:

* Gun is not stabilized, the vehicle needs to stop to fire accurately; HEAT requires a very precise firing
* Huge size, hard to conceal and difficult to manoeuvre in close quarters
* Very unreliable armour and only 3 crew members; easily destroyed on all angles even with 12.7 mm MG
* Despite good top-speed, acceleration is not great on rough terrain; low power-to-weight ratio (14 HP/t)
* Wheeled configuration and underpowered engine struggles on deep sand and snow

History
<!-- Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the vehicle in more detail than in the introduction.
The Ratel 90 was based on the Ratel 20 but with significant changes. The main feature of the Ratel 90 is a Denel DT-2 90 mm low velocity gun in the turret from the Eland 90 armoured car. Additionally, the hull roof was reinforced and the amount of troop hatches on top was reduced from four to two. Space for one of the passengers was removed to provide space for more 90 mm ammunition.

The Ratel 90 was designed to be used in the infantry support role but during the South African Border War they were forced into the anti-tank role. Against the initial T-34-85 tanks used by the FAPLA, the Ratel 90 proved to be a very deadly adversary. But once the FAPLA began receiving newer Soviet and Cuban T-54, T-55, and T-62 tanks, the Ratel 90 was forced to use its high mobility to outmanoeuvre the enemy tanks. Once the Ratel 90 was on the flank, they had to fire multiple 90 mm HEAT rounds into the enemy tanks, often aiming for weak points such as the engine and turret ring.

Devblog
In the late 1960s, the South African military began changing its doctrine towards highly mobile warfare, embodied by small mechanized infantry units. The change in doctrine was necessitated when the military realized that heavy armour faced extreme difficulties operating in rural areas of the country. As a result, the army needed a new ICVnot only to ferry troops into battle but also to actively support them in the field. To that extent, a basic requirement for an ICV was formulated and a number of both domestic and well as foreign designs were evaluated.

The domestic Springfield-Büssing company developed a promising six-wheel ICVprototype, called the Buffel, constructed on the basis of a MAN truck. The further developed Buffel prototype was eventually selected for procurement and entered service with the military as the 'Ratel'. Production of the Ratel began in the mid 1970s, after a limited initial batch of production vehicles successfully underwent testing. Being a family of fighting vehicles, the Ratel came in various modifications, including the base model armed with a 20 mm cannon, two mortar versions, a close fire support variant armed with a 90 mm gun, as well as a command and ATGM carrier modifications.

Ratels served in numerous conflicts since their first introduction in the mid 1970s, with nearly all of its active service taking place on the African continent. The Ratel 90 saw its first combat use in 1980 during the South African Border War, where Ratel 90 anti-tank teams came face to face with T-54/55s on multiple occasions. By the end of production in 1993, some 1304 Ratels were produced across all variants. Due to its simplistic design and perfect fit for the dry climate of sub-Saharan Africa, the Ratel proved at home in the Middle East and north-west Africa. As a result, around a dozen more nations, excluding South Africa, still operate the Ratel ICV.
The name is a premium rank rank French attack helicopter Battle-rating. It was introduced in Update 1.91 "Night Vision". It was removed from the store after the 8th Anniversary Sale, and was reintroduced in Update "Hot Tracks" as a Golden Eagle ge purchasable vehicle.
<!-- Describe how the helicopter behaves in the air. Speed, manoeuvrability, acceleration and allowable loads - these are the most important characteristics of the vehicle. -->
The Tiger HAP has some of the best agility and flight performance characteristics compared to other helicopters: it is able to do barrel rolls metres from the ground. Despite not having the best top speed (Russian helicopters excel at that part), it is able to perform "unique" tricks mid-air for helicopters. It is not the best strike helicopter when you want to do lightning strikes (fast attacks with the minimum exposure time) but it is able to "peek-a-boo" with enemies, specially since the collective pitch on the EC-665 can be increased and decreased really fast.

As with most helicopters in the game, it easily takes damage from even 7.62 mm machine gun fire. However, the crew is inside what looks like an "armoured bathtub". The crew is protected by AMAP-AIR (Advanced Modular Armour Plating Air) which is able to protect the crew from fragmentation only. It is not able to withstand machine gun fire without being damaged badly. However, the EC-665's best armour is to not be seen at all. This is something the Tiger excels at. Thanks to the GPS (Gunner Primary Sight) displacement, if the real life combat usage is followed (staying behind trees and mountains and poking just the rotor), the survivability of the EC-665 can be tremendously improved, thanks to this, it is not detected by anti-aircraft at all and will be hard to spot unless thermals are being used.
The EC-665 Tiger HAP can be considered to be the second best reliable attack helicopter when it comes to all tasks in the battlefield, the EC-665 Tiger HAD being the first. The mobility, small profile, manoeuvrability and movement capabilities while carrying full ordnance loads make this one of the best helicopters. For this same reason, the EC-665 Tiger HAP can have multiple roles depending on the map. Despite not having as much ordnance as other helicopters (Ka-50/52, AH-64, etc) it has just the right amount to make it a beast in both air-to-air and air-to-ground combat.

The HAP version has a wide variety of payloads for all types of players, for those who want to be fast and engage bases or ground targets as quickly as possible, and for those who want to carry out as much destruction as possible. The only drawback is that the helicopter is not able to carry Hellfires like the HAD. The recommended payload for a fair trade in speed, firepower, and defensive capabilities is the "Hot-3 x8, Mistral x4" payload. Enough AGMs to take out 8 ground targets and 4 AAMs to provide anti-air defence against both jets and helicopters. If aimed correctly (depending on the target and where it is aimed), only one AGM is needed per tank. If the player wants to play a more aggressive close-combat payload, then the "TDA 68mm x44, SNEB type 23 x24" payload should be carried. More than enough rockets to destroy 11 tanks (considering you take 6 rockets per tank). In Enduring Confrontation maps, any payload is recommended as EC is more forgiving payload-wise as multiple strikes can be done to a base, ground units, and enemy helicopters.

The use of HOT-3
The HOT-3 ATGM is a reliable anti-tank missile with a high penetration due to its tandem warhead. It should be noted that it is really slow and will take at least 10 seconds to arrive to target (240 m/s). This is an interesting ATGM as, since it is SACLOS guided, it will not trigger LWR compared to missiles like Hellfires. However, it is jammable by soft-kill APS such as EIREL APS (seen in AMX-30B2 BRENUS) and Shtora-1 (seen in T-90A) if spotted. 90% of the time, all the tanks engaged will not face towards the heli unless the attack is made in a 60° frontal arc LoS (Line-of-Sight). This is the biggest pro as, most of the time, T-90A will not face at you but the possibility is still there.

;Aiming the HOT-3

This can be tricky considering the flight speed and the obstacles between you and your target. However, it is not too hard to aim, it just requires practice. The main downside when firing the HOT-3 are obstacles (trees, houses, etc). They will cause big issues when it comes to the guidance. The HAP FCS (fire control system) has a laser targetting which locks into targets and follows them as long as they have a clear LoS with the GPS (gunner's primary sight). The use of this laser lock is optional. Some players decide not to use it at all as it may be easier to aim it manually, some may not. However, since the HOT-3 is a beam-rider (follows a radio-beam between the GPS and the missile) and the laser is bound to the GPS crosshair, the laser lock may lock into the HOT-3 for this reason. This is the main downside of laser lock when using SACLOS guided missiles (this does not happen with laser guided missiles such as Hellfires as the flight path is different).

When aiming to specific places of a tank to destroy it, there are many possibilities depending on your current position, enemy tank current position, type of tank and the tank itself. For example, no matter the allegiance, all SPAA will be taken out with a single HOT-3 thanks to hull-break. However this may not be the case for MBTs. A guideline is shown below:

NATO allegiance (Leopard, Abrams, Leclerc, etc):

* When in a 60° frontal arc:
** Missile should be aimed at upper frontal plate (in case of Leclerc, Ariete and Type 90, directly to the turret)
** If the azimuth between you and the enemy tank is above 30°, aim for bustle ammo rack

* When in a 60+° arc:
** Missile should be aimed at centre of mass (enough penetration to penetrate turret sides)
** If the arc between you and the enemy is in a range of 120°-180°, aim exclusively at turret bustle ammo rack

CSTO allegiance (T-80, T-90, ZTZ-99, etc)

* When in a 60° frontal arc:
** Missiles should be aimed at upper frontal plate as tandem warhead will take care of K5 ERA (in case of T-90A this may vary as Shtora-1 may be able to jam your missile)
** If the azimuth between you and the enemy tank is above 30°, keep aiming for a centre of mass shot at the upper frontal plate

* When in a 60+° arc:
** Missiles should be aimed at hull centre of mass for an ammo rack explosion
** If the arc between you and the enemy is in a range of 120°-180°, aim exclusively at turret back for crew. Engine deck is not worth as it will stop all the shrapnel.

The use of Mistral
This is one of the best AAM seen in game when it comes to "general purposes". It is able to lock and engage any target in a 6 km range from a rear-aspect lock and 4 km in all-aspects lock. This is one of the most useful missile when it comes to all anti-aircraft engagements, against helicopters and enemy jets. As expected, most of the enemy helicopters will have MAW and flares which will trigger automatically at the moment you fire a missile. When it comes to jets, this does not happen. The Mistral should be used when the enemy aircraft is flying as straight as possible as, since it needs speed to turn, any hard turn will completely evade the missile.

Pros and cons
<!-- Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective". -->

Pros:

* Decent agility compared to its counterparts.
* Pretty fast helicopter.
* Decent crew protection.
* The main gun has a good rate of fire and is effective against air targets
* Can carry up to 8 HOT-3 AGM which can penetrate up to 1,250 mm of armour.
* Can carry up to 68 TDA Rockets.
* Have access to Mistral AAM fitted with ECCM.
* Have access to missile approach warning system, thermal vision and flares (60 of them).

Cons:

* The fuselage is rather fragile.
* Mistral AAM are not effective against jet fighters and fast flying aircraft.
* The main cannon lacks penetration to deal with armoured targets.
* HOT-3 AGM are very slow (only 240 m/s) and have a short range (4.30 km).
* Lacks a radar.

History
The development of the EC-665 Tiger started in 1984 by France and West Germany, in the need of an anti-tank helicopter in the case of a possible soviet tank invasion. After the collapse of the USSR and the project exceeding the funds limits, the project was reorganized, changing the Tiger from an anti tank platform to a multirole attack helicopter. The Tiger first entered service in 2003, and still in use in multiple countries.

The HAP variant, standing for Hélicoptère d'Appui Protection (Support and Protection/Escort Helicopter) was one of the first variant produced, developed for the french army for air-to-air and fire support duties: It's equipped with a chin mounted 30mm turret autocannon, and capable of carrying rockets, ATGM, gunpods and missiles.

The Tiger HAD first saw combat in Afghanistan in 2010 employed by the french army, also being the first combat use of the EC-665 Tiger. The helicopter role was as said by a french officer, "find, attack, suppress, seize, raid, and support". It also saw combat service in Libya and Mali.
