The name is a rank rank Japanese hydroplane fighter Battle-rating. It was introduced in Update 1.65 "Way of the Samurai".

The Allied reporting name for this aircraft was "Rex".

The N1K1 can be a great low rank fighter. Even though its flight characteristics may seem poor at first, there are several ways you can improve them on the battlefield.

N1K1 is considered as best fighter seaplane available in War Thunder, and if you are experienced or mastered the previous A6M2-N, you will be satisfied with the improved flight performance, generous ammo count for 20mm cannons, and self-sealing fuel tanks to minimize the fire eats up your entire fuselage.

Despite the features it offers, N1K1 is not designed for beginners as the floats still hamper the plane's performance, and without proper knowledge of energy retention management, you'll be a sitting duck in no time.

* N1K1 is a versatile fighter seaplane, it can do both support and ground-pound roles. While so, this plane shines when it comes to fulfilling air superiority. During the engagement, make sure to utilize the flaps at the right moment, as the flaps will break beyond 380 km/h. Although N1K1 is boom-and-zoom capable, never attempt to dive beyond 600 km/h or you might break one of your wings and loses your flight control.
* The generous ammo count of 20mm improves your sustained fight performance over the A6M2-N. To improve its deadliness, set the gun targeting distance at 150-250m which is desired for boom-and-zoom or dogfighting purposes. While technically all the ammo of the 20mm cannons is useful to take down the target including the default belt, it is advised to pick Universal or Stealth ammo for the 7.7mm.
* Despite the improved maneuverability over the A6M2-N, don't attempt to do excess dogfighting as the floats will greatly hamper your energy retention. While the floats are capable to destroy or badly damages the opponent, in practicality, it is incredibly hard to attempt it.
** The float attached below N1K1 can be removed by carefully landing at your base. Be careful when attempting this however, as this process will often result in breaking your propeller or in the worst case, will destroy your plane. Once the floats are successfully removed, the flight performance on N1K1 is dramatically improved.
* NEVER ATTEMPT HEAD-ON YOUR OPPONENTS. Although the ammo count of 20mm is generous, the low velocity it has is not ideal to take down enemy beyond 300m. On top of that, avoid shooting bombers at the rear as most of them are always protected by the rear gunners. Try to strike below the bombers as it lacks the protection.

Enemies worth noting:

* Hawker Hurricane : Your eternal bane in its BR. Not only faster than yours but it is also dangerously maneuverable and packed with 8x 7.7mm MGs or worse, 20mm Hispano cannon that is capable to decimate you with just a single burst. Thankfully, its climb rate is abysmal than N1K1 has. Once you are above the Hurricane, boom-and-zoom is the viable strategy to quickly dispatch it. Don't get lured to do a dogfight with Hurricane as it always results in being out-turned and out-speed with floats still attached on. Should you failed of it, make sure to climb again whenever possible to regain your energy, then strafe again until you got it good.
* Early Yakovlev Fighters(Yak-1, Yak-7B): All early Yakovlev fighters are basically dangerous for your presence, as it boasts a powerful engine and higher maneuverability. However, the engine is prone to overheating and rendered powerless at higher altitudes, making the Yakovlev fighter a sitting duck for you to take on. On top of that, most of the early Yakovlev fighters are made from wood, so load your 20mm and 7.7mm with Incendiary ammo(Default and Ground for 20mm, Stealth and Universal for 7.7mm) to combust their fuselage with ease.
* All I-16 Variants: The Polikarpov I-16 is technically the same as the N1K1, only more maneuverable. So refrain to dogfight the I-16 by any means necessary. While packing dangerous ShKAS and ShVAKs, the I-16 has no protection for the pilot, making the boom-and-zoom tactic extremely effective if you aim its pilot. Also, the I-16 suffers the same symptom as many early Soviet fighters, where it loses engine performance at higher altitudes. If you spotted I-16 at more than 5000m altitudes, engage them ASAP.
Pros and cons
<!-- Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective". -->

Pros:

* Centre float can protect the plane from attacks from below.
* You can ram other planes with the float (esp. the wings).
* Can be a great boom-and-zoom aircraft.
* Self-sealing fuel tanks and armour, a feature not found on many low-rank Japanese aircraft.
* Powerful 20 mm cannons.
* Can be used to capture bases in Naval Battles.
* More ammo for the cannons compared to the A6M2 (200 vs 120).
* Accelerates very fast in a dive, and retains the speed created in a dive for quite a while.
* Improved overall flight performance, less engine overheating.

Cons:

* Generally weak airframe as with other Japanese planes.
* Most of its fuel were in the central float, can be easily sets on fire and losing it for performance greatly reduces its flight time.
* Impossible to land on an airfield due to floatplane configuration, also cannot do fast landing on the water (with speed above 160 km/h) as the floats will break and causing the plane to sink.
* Average acceleration and top speed can make you vulnerable.
* 7.7 mm machine guns overheat easily.
* Long takeoff run on the water.
* Poor wing durability, especially during dive.

Development
With the start of the Sino-Japanese war, the navy required a new line of planes for the southern expansion. One of these required planes by the navy was a fighter seaplane. Before World War I, it was not uncommon for seaplanes to play a central role in combat missions, but closing into World War II seaplanes were usually only used for observation and reconnaissance missions.

This plane was thought to be needed as some islands simply didn't have enough place for an airfield and were too trivial to send aircraft carriers towards. Which at the time of the Japanese situation seemed like a proper investment.

In September of 1940 the Imperial Japanese Navy instructed Kawanishi, who were quite experienced in developing seaplanes, to make a prototype plane under the name of 15-Shi Seaplane Fighter.

The chief design engineer appointed for this specification was Shizuo Kikuhara, who also worked on the H8K2. Kikuhara and his team were up to quite a task as comparing this specification to the mod. 11 that was just put into service in China. The speed exceeded by 30 knots, cruising range was two-thirds, armament was equal.

Simply put, the team was required to make a seaplane with the same performance as of the new main fighter and particularly the speed requirement was almost unrealizable for a seaplane (in 1940) let alone a interceptor like the Raiden which its prototype (J2M1) barely had a top speed of 578 km/h.

The maximum speed of the first completed prototype N1K missed the requirement by nearly 100 km/h, but Shizuo Kikuhara and his team would put all their technical efforts to achieve the requirement.

Nakajima also made a seaplane fighter of their own as temporarily bridge for the N1K until it actually entered service. This seaplane was simply making use of the new mod. 11, making it more waterproof and adding pontoons on it. The A6M2-N would be adopted as the Type 2 seaplane fighter on July 6, 1942.

After alot of development and trail time the N1K1 with a Kasei 13 engine would finally be adopted as the Kyōfū in December 21, 1943.

But during its adoption, the Americans already were waging a victory in the Solomon islands and the need for a seaplane fighter was no longer needed as Japan was on the defensive now.

Usage
Some Kyōfū's were based in Indonesia and were used as a interceptor of bombers with the use of aerial bombs that would detonate after a short time attempting to bomb American bombers such as B-24/PB4Y's and B-29's.

Other Kyōfū's were stationed in the mainland, primarly at Sasebo Air Group and the Otsu Air Group but have almost no record of battle.

In the end, the Kyōfū was little too late as its stopgap replacement, the A6M2-N, primarily filled its role. However this indirectly opened its way to evolve in the Shiden.
Pros and cons
Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".

Pros:

* Powerful armament and large ammunition pool, superior than Bf 109 F-4 and Bf 109 G-2/trop when stock, and placed at the nose like P-38 LIghtning series for successful head-on.
* Quite agile thanks for the DB 605 engine.
* Can be used as fighter-bomber when needed.
* Exceptional diving performance, combined with center-mounted armament for guaranteed BnZ tactics.

*

Cons:

* The .50 cal Breda-SAFAT are notorious for woeful firepower over past 300m and inferior than M2 Browning although the armament placed like P-38.
* Inferior flight performance over C.205 serie 3 despite its same BR and engine.
* Mediocre roll rate.
* Slower speed than any Allied and Axis fighter in its BR.

*

Powerful, fast and sturdy, the G.55 was considered an unbeatable interceptor at high altitude. The second of the "Serie 5" or third-generation Italian wartime fighters with the DB 605 engine, 30 were in service at the time of the 1943 Armistice, and Fascist forces continued to use the 150 still in their possession until the end of the war.

Six hundred were supposed to have been built by Fiat, along with 250 Macchi M.C. 205s and 750 Reggiane Re. 2005s, but the armistice ended those plans. The Fiat design was faster than the Macchi at high altitude, and it was more powerfully armed as well. It was considered sturdier, but slower and less maneuverable compared to the Reggiane design. The 353rd Squadron took it operational in June, 1943.

After the war, production resumed, with Argentina and Syria buying the model. It continued in Italian service for several years.
The name is a rank rank Italian fighter Battle-rating. This fighter was introduced in Update 1.69 "Regia Aeronautica" along with the initial Italian aviation tree.

The C.205 serie 3 is a refinement of the C.205 serie 1, which was a development of the C.202. The serie 3 addresses the main issue of the serie 1, which is its highly underwhelming firepower. The wings now each hold a 20 mm MG151/20 cannon which accompany what used to be the primary armament, 2 x 12.7 mm machine guns mounted above the engine cowling. The extra weight on the Daimler-Benz 605 engine marginally reduces flight performance.
Flight Performance
<!--Describe how the aircraft behaves in the air. Speed, manoeuvrability, acceleration and allowable loads - these are the most important characteristics of the vehicle.-->

The aircraft has a very good roll rate and generally good acceleration both in level flight and when diving. Overall handling is good and energy retention in level flight and in the vertical is very good. Control lock up starts with the rudder past 500 - 550 kph with the test of the control surfaces steadily locking up past 600 - 650 kph. Players should make sure to leave enough altitude to pull out of a steep dive. The control lockup prevents the wings from tearing due to excessive G-force. The engine maintains a lot of power even past 5,000 metres and takes a while to overheat.

For full real control pilots, the left wing is slightly longer than the right to counter the torque of the engine. This can cause the aircraft to roll to the side even when making a slight change in pitch.
Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but instead, give the reader food for thought. Examine the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).-->

C.205 Serie 3 is not just a mere upgrade from C.205 serie 1, now it features 2 pairs of 20mm MG 151 which executing Boom-and-Zoom and bomber intercepting is now very possible with greater chance of success. The flight performance still remains competitive for its BR thanks to DB 605-A.

Remember, altitude equals advantage. Keep climbing at 20 degree. Once you've reached 4000m, lower the climbing angle to 15 degree to increase its speed. Make sure to watch your speed as you climb, you might not want to risk yourself being hit or destroyed by enemy fighter who has speed advantage than you. Until reaching 8000m out of the sky, the engine still perform well without any problem. Use this oppoturnity to scour enemy planes, or dive down toward bombers and enemy fighters. If you spotted the enemy at your altitude, stop climbing or climb a little to regain your speed. A DB 605A engine still provide exceptional speed at higher altitude, which helpful for 1-on-1 engagement.

If you getting tailed by enemy fighters, do an Immelmann turn, and scissor maneuvering to drain enemy fighters energy. Once your enemy loses its energy to pursue and began to stalling, use your flaps when pitching up to your enemy, and you can proceed to shoot it down when the time is right. Rolling rate in C.205 serie 3 also good in both medium and high speed, use this to make your enemy overshoot you and running out of their ammo. C.205 also has exceptional maneuverability in higher speed even carrying a pairs of 20mm MG 151, but don't expect to outturn Spitfires and Yaks as you'll bleed your energy and became their easy feast. The combat flaps is strong, as long as you can keep your speed at 600 km/h while dogfighting.

While the 12.7mm Breda-SAFAT still remain on this aircraft, the most prominent feature of the C.205 serie 3 is an additional pairs of the 20m MG 151 on the wing, replacing the 7.7mm Breda-SAFAT Machinegun. Here, with the total of 500 round for the 20mm, you should be able to destroy a fighter with single burst or a bomber with good shot placement at their wings or fuselage once loaded with Air Targets belt which contain mostly of deadly Minengeschoss. While the 12.7mm Breda-SAFAT loses its effective firepower beyond 300-400m, you can load them with tracers belt which helpful to ignite plane component, although not as easy as .50 M2 does. You can set gun targeting distance at 400m, which is best for intense dogfighting, or pursue your enemy.
<!--Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".-->

Pros:

* Good for BnZ
* Good performance above 4,000 m (13,000 ft)
* Good armament (especially when using air targets belt)
* Great ammunition pool
* Can be used as interceptor against bombers
* Relatively tough

Cons:

* Average climb rate means it can find itself below or at equal altitude to the enemy
* Very sluggish at low speed
* When stock, the cannons are surprisingly inaccurate and tend to "shotgun" a bit
* Breda-SAFAT machine guns have a low muzzle velocity, and don't hit very hard

General info

Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".-->

Pros:

* Good for BnZ
* Good performance above 4,000 m (13,000 ft)
* Good armament (especially when using air targets belt)
* Great ammunition pool
* Can be used as interceptor against bombers
* Relatively tough

General info

* 2 x 20 mm MG 151/20 cannons, wing-mounted (250 rpg = 500 total)
* 2 x 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns, Mounted above the engine cowling (400 rpg = 800 total)

Usage in battles
<!--Describe the tactics of playing in an aircraft, the features of using vehicles in a team and advice on tactics.

* Good performance above 4,000 m (13,000 ft)
* Good armament (especially when using air targets belt)
* Great ammunition pool
* Can be used as interceptor against bombers
* Relatively tough

Pros:

* A big step up from Yak-1: Nose-mounted 1x 20mm ShVAK & 2x 12.7 UBS Machinegun proved very effective against any kind of aircraft in this BR.
* Capable to use rockets for both air and ground targets.
* Reasonable top speed and maneuverability in its BR.

Cons:

* Engine is an downgrade of previous Yak: Inability to do WEP, prone to overheating, and provide lousy top speed over Yak-1 does.
* Engine is underperformed at above 4000m, making it incapable to intercept bombers although provided very powerful armament.
* Worse maneuverability over all Yakovlev Fighter series.
* The wooden airframe can't sustain high compression during dive in high speed, resulting in wing rips above 500 km/h.
* Any kind of fire will tore up the plane in no time due the wooden airframe.
The Yakovlev Yak-7 was originally intended as a two-seat trainer version of the Yak-1 fighter plane for the Soviet Air Force and only armed with 1 x 7.62 mm ShKAS MG for gunnery practice. Eventually, engineers at the Yakovlev Design Bureau modified the plane into a single-seat fighter superior to the Yak-1. The plane was armed with a single, propeller-mounted 20 mm ShVAK autocannon and 2 x ShKAS machine guns in the engine cowling and included armour for the cockpit. The plane was quickly adopted by the air force and production was approved by late 1941. Unfortunately, Operation Barbarossa, the German invasion of the USSR had already begun and the relocation of factories to the Urals and more pressing needs elsewhere meant only 65 were available at the end of the year. Though it would see service as a fighter and interceptor, the aircraft was more often used as a fighter-bomber due to its ability to carry bombs and rockets for use against the Nazi and Italian ground forces. The Yak-7B would be introduced in 1942 and had a reduced wingspan, improved on-board systems, and an easier-to-produce undercarriage compared to the Yak-7A. Production of the Yak-7B would amount to over 5,000 aircraft produced. It would later see service with Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Mongolia, Poland, and Yugoslavia, which only received 2 Yak-7V planes. The Free French Air Force Normandie-Niemen squadron would also employ the plane on the Eastern Front, eager to get revenge against the Luftwaffe that had bested them on the home front.

In-game description
This Soviet single-engine fighter was based on the Yak-7UTI, a tandem-seat advanced trainer based on the Yak-1. The first Yak-7B rolled off the production line at Yakovlev in 1942; the last one was made in 1944.

The Yak-7B's armaments consisted of two 12.7 mm Berezin machine guns and one 20 mm ShVAK cannon. In addition, bombs aboard the plane could be suspended. In all, the plane's manufacturer made more than 5,000 Yak-7Bs.

The PAGENAME is armed with:

* 2 x 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns, nose-mounted (400 rpg = 800 total)
* 2 x 7.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns, wing-mounted (500 rpg = 1,000 total)

Usage in battles
<!--Describe the tactics of playing in an aircraft, the features of using vehicles in a team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but instead, give the reader food for thought. Examine the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).-->

The C.205 Serie 1 is perhaps the most underrated rank III Italian fighter, most likely due to the underpowered armament which consists of 2x 12.7 mm and 2x 7.62 mm Breda-SAFAT machine gun. This can be a serious problem since this fighter is BnZ fighter, meaning even a successful pass will badly cripple the target instead destroying it. Therefore, stick with teammates in order to support them. The C.205 Serie 1 works well when escorting the bomber.

This fighter can climb fast for its rank and battle rating, thanks to DB 605-A which was installed in Bf 109 G-2, even in stock. The PAGENAME could climb up to 5,000 m in to seek enemy planes, but higher than 6,000-7,000 m is recommended for safest altitude. Use this advantage when retaining energy, to outrun enemies or gain altitude if the first pass failed and make up the second pass. Although the engine provides considerable manoeuvrability, one should not do excess dogfighting toward the target, as it will burn up energy faster. Never attempt to make a contact against well-manoeuvrable like the Spitfire and Yakovlev fighter, especially in the low altitude. Call teammates, then gain some altitude until the enemy cannot pursue. Use this chance to make a counter-attack and destroy the enemy. One thing to note, this plane can be tweaked its propeller pitch to the maximum value without blowing the engine, unlike all Bf series with same engine when using MEC.

When in stock, the armament leaves much to be desired: low velocity has ball ammunition which limits the effectiveness of the weapon. Never attempt to head-on by any means; chances are the opponent's bullets will reach the C.205 before its own. One thing should be noticed: while the C.205 has a powerful engine at its battle rating, never intercept the bomber without teammates, especially when down-tiered. However, these machine guns quite effective against dive-bombers or low-flying bombers. Try to aim at the wing or the engine compartment for a desirable hit. Adjust the machine gun convergence at 250-300 m for better effectiveness. Also, load ammo with Air Target or Universal for .50 cal, and Stealth belt for .30 cal.

Overall, C.205 Serie 1 is a support BnZ fighter with good climb rate, reasonably fast for its battle rating. While being overshadowed by underperformed armament among all the fighter, in the hand of a skilled player and following the rules, this became a bane among all the enemy fighter, even the bomber.

Pros:

* Arguably fast and nimble against any opponents at its battle rating, thanks to the engine from Bf 109 G-2
* Tweaking the propeller pitch in MEC will not blown the engine, unlike the Bf series with same engine
* Excellent energy retention and roll rate
* Reasonable climb rate
* Excellent high altitude performance
* Insane straight-line acceleration

Cons:

* Inadequate armament at its tier, shots tend to only cripple your enemies instead destroy it
* Hard to control during low speed and altitude
* Any damage severely degrades aircraft functionality

The last Italian fighters of the war (the Serie 5, or "third-generation") all used the new German Daimler Benz 605 engine, putting them on a par with the best mid-war aircraft. The M.C. 205 was the only one of the Serie 5's to see much service with the Italian air force. The prototype, based on the M.C. 202, first flew in April, 1942. The added power allowed it to become the first Italian aircraft with cannon armament in the wings. It was considered extremely maneuverable at middle and low altitudes. About 200 were built and delivered starting in October, 1942, seeing combat service in the Mediterranean and Sicily the next year. Another 112 were built after the armistice and delivered to Fascist Italian forces, who used the plane until summer, 1944. Others continued on in Allied use and after the war remained in service as combat fighters until 1947.

Pros:

* Arguably fast and nimble against any opponents at its battle rating, thanks to the engine from Bf 109 G-2
* Tweaking the propeller pitch in MEC will not blown the engine, unlike the Bf series with same engine
* Excellent energy retention and roll rate
* Reasonable climb rate
* Excellent high altitude performance
* Insane straight-line acceleration

The PAGENAME is armed with:

* 2 x 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns, nose-mounted (400 rpg = 800 total)
* 2 x 7.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns, wing-mounted (500 rpg = 1,000 total)

Usage in battles
C.205 Serie 1 perhaps is the underrated Tier III Italian fighter, most likely due the underpowered armament which consists of 2x .50 and 2x .30 Breda-SAFAT Machine Gun. This can be a serious problem since this fighter is BnZ fighter, meaning even the successful pass will badly cripple your target instead destroying it. Therefore, stick with your teammates in order to support them. C.205 Serie 1 works well when escorting the bomber,

While so, this fighter can climb faster for its tier and BR, thanks to DB 605-A which installed in Bf 109 G-2 even in stock. You could climb up to 5000 m in to seek enemy planes, but higher than 6000-7000 m is reccomended for safest altitude. Use this advantage when retaining your energy, to outrun your enemies or gain your altitude if the first pass failed and make up the second pass. Although the engine provides considerable maneuverability, one should not do excess dogfighting toward your target, as it will burn up your energy faster. Never attempt to make a contact against well-maneuverable like Spitfire and Yakovlev fighter, especially in the low alt. Call your teammates, gain some altitude until they cannot pursue you. Use this chance to make a counter-attack and destroy your enemy.

When in stock, the armament leaves much to be desired: low velocity, has ball ammunition which limits the effectiveness of the weapon. Never attempt to head on by any means; you'll ended up faster than your opponent. One thing should be noticed: while you have powerful engine at its BR, never intercept the bomber without your teammates, especially when you're undertiered. However, those machine guns quite effective against dive bomber or low-flying bomber. Try to aim at the wing, or the engine compartment for desirable hit. Adjust your machinegun gun convergence at 250-300m for better effectiveness. Also, load your ammo with Air Target or Universal for .50 cal, and Stealth belt for .30 cal.

Overall, C.205 Serie 1 is a support BnZ fighter with good climb rate, reasonably fast for its BR. While being overshadowed by underperformed armament among all the fighter, in the hand of skilled player and following the rules, this became a bane among all the enemy fighter, even the bomber.
The name is a Rank rank Japanese twin-engine fighter 2. This aircraft was introduced in Update 1.71 "New E.R.A".

Based on the Mitsubishi Ki-67 'heavy' bomber, the Ki-109 was designed as an interceptor in an attempt to counter the American bombing raids that devastated Japan. It is armed with a 75 mm anti-aircraft gun modified for aircraft use, and almost all defensive armament from the bomber version has been stripped, except for the tail turret, in order to maximise performance.

Ingame, the Ki-109 functions much as it was intended to in reality. The 75 mm gun is effective against bombers, but struggles to hit small agile targets such as fighters. Its own defensive armament is very poor, and it should avoid combat with fighters at all costs. Alternatively, the 75 mm gun is also effective against tanks if a clean hit can be obtained.
Usage in battles
Ki-109 isn't only about the gun to groundpound, yet its all about intercepting your enemies and return safe and sound. While designed as interceptor, the climbing rate is nothing but a joke when in stock; sideclimbing is a mandatory rule one should obey to. Despite its size which resembles as medium bomber, Ki-109 is surprisingly maneuverable among all –if not, all nation– japanese twin-engined heavy fighter which on par with German's Fw 190 series. Still, its better not to use those blessings for dogfighting a fighter: use your maneuverability to evade bomber defensive gunner if you failed a bomber intercepting, and if you lucky enough, you can outmaneuver newbie player in the heavy bomber who tries to evade your first shot by making a turn like a single-engine fighter. Or you can regain your position quickly to hunt down enemy tanks below.

The fuselage durability proved strong to shrug off machine gun caliber and some cannon. To add your defensive value, there's rear machinegunner which could protect your six. While so, it's defensive armament proved underperformed; you'll most likely lose your defensive gunner before he could scratch the enemy fuselage as there's no protective glass equipped. Overall, Ki-109 don't have any armor beside at the bottom of the gun itself which proved meaningless. Unless you're betting with your random luck, head-on attack is strongly not advised and use your maneuverability to evade incoming enemies in front of you. Beside, Ki-109 has self-sealing which can be found in every Japanese heavy fighters, meaning you can withstand to accomplish your task(though, it is advised to retreat to your base) while one of your wing burning on without breaking it.

Boasting 75mm Type 88, the gun itself quite versatile to take down both air and ground targets. This, however not without the drawbacks: 15 rounds of ammo stocked in your guns combined with very low rate of fire and somewhat low bullet velocity which means you should make your every shot count because no secondary weapons is equipped in Ki-109. It is advised to seek an assistance with your teammate to hunt down bombers. The recoil of the gun itself is another issue to settle off, so in order to minimise inaccurate shot, try to shot your target during shallow dive. One thing to note, unlike any armor-piercing ammo where it contains not more than 90 gram, the ammo used in Type 88 filled with 460 gram of TNT which proved overkill to take down even the biggest heavy bomber like Pe-8. Therefore you might want to use AP-T ammo in every battle due its filling, while the HEFI-T has more 30 grams of TNT.
