<!-- In the description, the first part should be about the history of the creation and combat usage of the vehicle, as well as its key features. In the second part, tell the reader about the ground vehicle in the game. Insert a screenshot of the vehicle, so that if the novice player does not remember the vehicle by name, he will immediately understand what kind of vehicle the article is talking about. -->
The name is a rank rank German medium tank Battle-rating. It was introduced during the Closed Beta Test for Ground Forces before Update 1.41.

The M-modification is the latest version of Panzer III able to be purchased for Silver Lions (the last modification available is the Pz.III N, which can be purchased with Golden Eagles). It has the same battle rating as the previous Pz.III L and offers some additional protection enhancements.

The most notable differences are the added Schürzen, or side skirts (both on the hull and the turret). Although they are very thin, they can effectively protect the tank from glancing HEAT and HE rounds along with nearby artillery strikes and bombs. also, the dreaded Panzer cupola has been upgraded so it is no longer a fatal weak spot, which is a very useful improvement. Russian T-34s/KV-1s and most weaker tanks can no longer exploit this which adds to the Panzer III M's survivability potential.

The Panzer III M is armed with a 5 cm high-velocity anti-tank gun. At close range it can become dangerous to attack the Russian T-34, however with the exception of lucky shots. The KV-series of tanks is usually immune to normal APCBC shells. The high muzzle velocity makes long range shots rather easy, although it will noticeably lose penetration. The smaller calibre also offers a higher rate of fire than 75mm and 76mm guns.

Surprisingly, these upgrades did not add any notable extra weight, so the mobility of the tank has not been altered.

With the tank's good armour and a free path to the Tiger, Pz.III M is sometimes called the "Mini Tiger".
Notes:

* The tank has 50 mm of armour at the front of the hull and 57 on the turret front, but there is an additional 20mm plate on the upper hull and at the front of the turret, increasing the effective armour to 70mm and 77mm respectively. When the armour is angled, this tank becomes very strong frontally.
* Side armour of the hull and turret are 30 mm and are protected by an extra 5 mm plate that protects from HEAT and HE rounds.
* The strong turret armour makes this tank powerful when hull-down, as many enemies will only be able to penetrate the cupola, only knocking out the commander. However, don't allow anyone to freely fire there, as some unlucky shot fired there can still occasionally cause severe damage.
* Suspension wheels are 15 mm thick while tracks are 20 mm thick.
* Side skirts are removed when the "Winterketten" modification is installed.
Ammunition
* PzGr 39 - Armour Piercing Capped shell - This is the main ammo type; use it whenever it is possible to penetrate the target. It deals the most damage because of its explosive filler. It also offers the best penetration at very long range (over 1500 m). Combat at this range is, however, not recommended.
* PzGr 40/1 - Armour Piercing Composite Rigid shell - This type of ammo should be used if the gun is having trouble penetrating the opponent, or trying to hit a fast-moving tank at some distance. However, its damaging potential is much lower because it has no explosive filler to further enhance damage after the penetration. It should be used only at close and medium ranges. PzGr 40 is better.
* PzGr 40 - Armour Piercing Composite Rigid shell - this variation of APCR is lighter, slightly faster and offers the best penetration. Use it against heavily armoured tanks like KV-1 (If unable to flank them). However, don't expect it to cause any real damage upon penetration. It's even worse than that of the PzGr 40/1. It basically only deals damage to modules/crew straight in its path. It is therefore almost useless to fire them at things like turret cupolas, as it will usually just fly right through them.
* Sprgr 38 - High Explosive ammo - Carry only very few of these. They are completely useless against anything other than unarmoured AA vehicles, to which it is lethal.
Usage in battles
<!-- Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB). -->
The Panzer III M is a tank worth mastering. Try to play it like a standard battle tank, but only in a support role. Never fight on the front lines, as other tanks will be able to take advantage of the Panzer III's weaknesses. The tank's armour is far too weak for close counters engagements. With its surprisingly good gun penetration and good battle rating, it does fairly well with the tanks it is put up against. Feel free to carry plenty of shells; this Panzer has its ammunition stored in such a way where it will not get ammo racked too easily. After a while, any player will probably realise that after a few games they use a lot of shells with the fast firing 50 mm gun.

Always remember that the tank doesn't have the best gun around, but it has a good rate of fire to compensate and is still powerful enough against most threats (especially deadly at close/medium ranges). The Panzer III M may not always knock out the opponent in one blow, so try prioritizing on what to aim first.
Here is a list of priority targets when attacking a (superior) enemy:

:*Turret - The turret contains some vital crew members and modules. If a successful penetration is scored, it will most likely knock out the loader, gunner, and commander. A solid penetration on an enemy's turret will most likely knock out/damage the following modules: cannon breech, ammo rack, and the horizontal and vertical turret drives. By knocking out any of these crew members and modules with the first fired shot, it will greatly decrease the time it will take to destroy the enemy tank while minimizing its immediate threat.

:*If the enemy hasn't been blown up yet, focus on shooting at the enemy's weak spots and known areas of vital/fragile modules (e.g. ammo rack, fuel tank, engine). The rear part of every tank is the most lightly armoured one, so focus fire there and maybe score a penetration to the engine block/transmission. Enemies without the "FPG" module installed will succumb to the flames.

:*If the opponent is still alive after repeated attacks, the best thing to do is to get up close and personal. Try to analyze what damage has been done and alter the attack based on the modules/crew destroyed. However, never underestimate the enemy and always approach the enemy with caution, no matter how much damage has been inflicted. Get up close and personal and land shots wherever they can penetrate to do the most damage.

While the armour is something to take note of, this tank will perform best in flanking attacks. It has good penetration and fires fast enough to destroy an enemy tank quickly and efficiently. Stay close to the battlefield as this tank does not fair well in long range combat. The Panzer III M is best utilized as support or front line tank that can move quickly across the battlefield.

*Use the tank's mobility - The PAGENAME has a good gun, but don't let that encourage camping gameplay in one spot and wait for enemies to come over. Be proactive and move actively around the map; the tank is perfectly suited to perform this role. As mentioned above, applying flanking tactics is the most effective way to use this tank.

*Spaced armour and Schürzen - The PAGENAME may fool itself into believing that those 5 mm plates on the sides of the tank's hull and turret are useless and that they just add dead weight to the tank. This is simply untrue. Their main purpose is to absorb HEAT/HE shells and prematurely activate the fuse on some AP rounds. They are definitely a useful component to any tank.

*Angling the armour - Despite the fact that this vehicle has a sufficient armour thickness and spaced armour to protect itself from HEAT shells, the PAGENAME can always find itself in the situation when the tank is just too close to the enemy and armour thickness isn't an advantage anymore. Do not let the enemies take well-aimed shots; the weak spots around the machine gun ports and driver's viewport are tempting targets. In this case, it's best to angle the armour at around a 45-60 degree angle and start moving to maximize the effective armour thickness and increase chances of the enemy shell ricocheting. Try not to over-angle the hull; once the side armour loses the high angle advantage, anything can punch through.

*Cover the lower glacis - The Panzer III M has a very exposed lower glacis. Although mostly covered by attached spare tracks, if the tank takes a hit there, it will most likely result in a knocked out transmission, a fire burning, and an incapacitated driver. Thus, whenever possible, try to use natural cover like rocks and obstacles to protect the lower glacis from enemy attack.

*Carry as much ammo not as needed, but want! - That's right, if unsure of particular shooting skills, or just like to shoot at everything that moves, bring all the ammo! The ammo is stored in a relatively safe location in the lower part of the tank, so ammo rack hits are uncommon.

Always try to get the first shot off. With a clear shot, make sure to hit a vital point. For heavier tanks, aim for the gunner or turret ring, as they are fairly easy targets for this tank. Once the tank is disabled, start hitting "sweet spots" like the rest of the crew members. The 50 mm gun reloads quickly so this feat is easily achieved.

*The KV-1s, especially the heavily armoured KV-1(ZiS-5) will be a problem! Their gun mantlets and certain areas on the hull can be penetrated, but take the time with the shot; if not, be expected to be spotted and be hit quickly! APCR shells are a viable option, but several shots are often required to destroy the enemy tank. It, on the other hand, usually only needs 1 or 2 shots to send the Panzer III back to the garage.
*T-34 is another problematic opponent to deal with, especially the later modifications. Their hull is basically invulnerable to the 50 mm gun, and weak spots on it and the turret are difficult to hit, especially when the vehicle is moving. Their gun is also lethal to most tanks.
*US M10 tank destroyer and M4 Shermans are other tanks that should be avoided and flanked, rather than engaged directly. They often deploy "hull-down" tactics, covering their hulls behind terrain. Plus, their turret armour is very good.
*Lastly, from the German Side, always look out for their Tank Destroyers and Pz.IVs equipped with long 7.5cm guns (like Pz.IV F2 or Pz.IV G ). Their guns can easily punch through the Panzer III armour at any distance.

Pros and cons
<!-- Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective". -->

Pros:

* Strong armour on frontal hull armour and turret against common opponents like T-34, M24
* Decent speed and manoeuvrability
* Decent firepower with high accuracy, deadly shells, fast reload, and great -10° gun depression
* Shells travel fast, making it easier to aim
* Side skirts help prevent damage from HEAT and HE shells (e.g. from SU-122, (105))
* Small size makes it difficult to hit when on the move
* 100 mm thick commander's cupola eliminates this weakspot
* Access to smoke launchers, can conceal the tank if needed

Cons:

* Gun is unreliable when facing certain tanks frontally (e.g. KV-1) unless one aims for weak spots or uses PzGr40 shells (APCR)
* Gun is bad for long-range combat
* Has weak spots: lower plate, machine gun, and driver's viewport
* Weak side and rear armour, vulnerable against flankers
* Spaced armour won't resist powerful guns (e.g. M10)
* Flat armour reduces ricochet
Development
The Panzerkampfwagen III medium tank or the Panzer III was developed in the 1930s. Starting in early 1934, Heinz Guderian set down some specifications for a new tank, which Army Weapons Department took up to design the tank to weigh no more than 24,000 kilograms with a top speed of 35 km per hour. This tank's role was to be the main tank of the German army and was expected to destroy opposing tanks, as opposed as a tank made to destroy anti-tank guns and opposing infantrymen, which the Panzer IV was created for.

Daimler-Benz, Krupp, MAN, and Rheinmetall produced prototypes meeting the specifications and the Daimler-Benz model was chosen after testing in 1936-1937. The Panzer III model used a leaf-spring suspension in its early models (Ausf. A - Ausf. D) before utilizing a six-wheeled torsion-bar suspension in the Ausf. E and beyond. The Panzer III had a crew of five people, the commander, gunner, loader, driver, and assistant driver. The best feature of the Panzer III during its introduction that is the most overlooked was the three-man turret, which was not as common at the time. This freed the commander to be able to effectively command the tank while maintaining situational awareness rather than be burdened by the role of a loader or gunner, improving the combat effectiveness of the tank. Despite this rather advanced design, the turret did not have a basket for the crew. It was a proven design and production began in May 1937. The total number of Panzer IIIs constructed in its production life was 5,774 units (excluding StuG III variant).

Specifications
The Panzer III Ausf. M has the 50 mm KwK 39 as its main armament, giving it the firepower to go against the Allied tanks T-34s and M4 Shermans. The Panzer III Ausf. M still featured the armour from the Ausf. L, with 50 mm of hull armour and offset armour on the front of the hull and turret that are 20 mm effective. Aside from that, there was also the instalment of the Schürzen side armour skirts also being applied onto the Panzer IVs. These offset armour and Schürzen also apply as spaced armour due to not being attached to the hull or turret mantlet. The spaced armour on the front helped defend the tank against Soviet anti-tank rounds or HEAT rounds fired at it on those plates, as it dissipates the penetration power before striking the hull.

Combat usage
Despite its newer aspects compared to older Panzer IIIs, the prevalence of newer German tanks such as the Tiger I and Panther tanks, plus the establishment upgunned Panzer IVs made these more able to take on Allied tanks than the Panzer III. The Panzer III began slowly to be relegated to secondary roles such as training or anti-partisan activities. Nevertheless, the Panzer IIIs proved a versatile armoured platform in German service, as even though it was obsolete in late 1941, it was constantly upgraded with better guns, better protection, or modified completely to fit a different role more efficiently than its original. Even when phased out of service, its chassis was used as the basis of Germany's most lethal tank destroyer, the StuG III.

The Panzer III, after being relegated as secondary roles, was made into an infantry support tank with the Panzer III Ausf. N variant, which featured the 75 mm KwK 37 howitzer originally equipped in the first few Panzer IV models.

In-game description
This new tank was actually the Ausf. L variant, adapted to handle water obstacles up to a depth of 1.4 meters without requiring additional preparation. This was achieved by sealing all of the hatches, installing additional covers over the engine and ventilation air intakes, and installing a muffler high above the ground and equipped with a valve. The tank's length reached a total of 6,410 mm, including its cannon. The escape hatches in the side of the tank's hull were removed. This allowed the tank to carry 98 shells instead of the earlier 84. The smoke generators in the tank's rear were replaced with six mortars for launching 90 mm NbK smoke grenades. Almost all of the tanks of this variant were equipped with 5 mm Schutzen side skirts, increasing the width of the tank to 3,100 mm.

1,000 of the tanks were ordered initially, but this order was soon reduced to 775 tanks, since the Pz.Kpfw. IV surpassed the Pz.Kpfw. III in some ways. By the end of its production, which ran from October 1942 to February 1943, only 250 of this variant had actually been produced. The remaining tanks were converted to StuG III vehicles and flame tanks.

Tanks of this variant were used en masse in the summer of 1943, during the fighting in the Kursk Bulge area. At that time, about 60% of the German tanks on the Eastern Front were of this variant. After suffering heavy losses, the remaining tanks were converted into command vehicles, flame tanks, or self-propelled StuG III anti-aircraft guns.
Examine the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB). -->
The G.55's main strong points come down to its engine power, its light construction and its wing profile, which grant it a high sustained rate of climb, a tight turning circle and the power output to endure sustained horizontal manoeuvring. It performs best up to medium altitudes around 5,000 m (16,404 feet), after which it is generally outperformed by its competition. unfortunately, its light construction and its wing profile mean that when the Centauro goes into the vertical, it bleeds speed very easily. Its top speed in a dive is unimpressive and it can barely catch up in a zoom climb with its competitors. The armament is very effective as well, however, the MG 151 is not very accurate at range, which should be taken into account when engaging in head-on passes.

You should primarily enforce an energy fighting flying style to take advantage of the aircraft's descent energy retention and solid manoeuvrability, and also to try to cover the Centauro's weakness of mediocre speed. Try to stay above your enemy, but take care to recognize the threat your attacker poses by observing the plane they are flying.

Specific enemies worth noting

* Spitfire F Mk IX and Spitfire F Mk XIVe. These two Spitfires are some of the most common enemies you will face, and accordingly, some of the most dangerous. The Mk IX has decent speed, amazing climb rate and a great turn rate, and the XIVe has excellent speed and acceleration, great energy retention and solid performance at high altitude. You should never engage a Spitfire in a turn-fight, so focus on Boom-&-Zoom to use your powerful armament to shred through their weak airframes.
* P-51D-30. The P-51D-30 is another enemy you should take note of. It is arguably one of the best aircraft at this BR thanks to its excellent speed, great climb rate, relatively powerful armament and solid high-speed manoeuvrability due to its Laminar flow wings. The Packard V-1650 is basically a Merlin engine tuned for high altitude, and it can propel the D-30 to speeds the G.55 can only dream of. However, the D-30 has extremely poor manoeuvrability at low speeds due to the same Laminar flow wings that allow it to turn well at high speeds, so if you cannot engage one with an energy advantage you can turn-fight it.
* Yak-3P. The feared red Russian menace is an extremely dangerous opponent that can engage you on a more than even footing. It turns extremely well and has a solid climb rate while also sporting a relatively powerful set of 3 B-20 cannons, but its performance suffers above 3,000 m where its already mediocre speed becomes crippling. As long as you take care to not turn fight one and engage it above 4,000 m, it is not a threat.
* Late Bf 109s. While you cannot face one in realistic battles, arcade battles pose this threat. The G-2 and G-6 outclass you in every way, shape and form. Under no circumstances are you to engage these opponents, and if one forces a fight on you, seek assistance from teammates.

Pros:

* Powerful armament and large ammunition pool, and placed in the nose like the P-38 Lightning series for successful head-on attacks
* Quite agile thanks to the DB 605 engine
* Can be used as fighter-bomber when needed
* Exceptional diving performance, combined with centre-mounted armament allows for exceptional Boom & Zoom tactics

Cons:

* The .50 cal Breda-SAFAT are notorious for woeful firepower past 300 m and inferior when compared to the M2 Browning
* Inferior flight performance over C.205 serie 3 despite similar battle rating and the same engine
* Mediocre roll rate
* Slower speed than any Allied or Axis fighter at its battle rating

Powerful, fast and sturdy, the G.55 was considered an unbeatable interceptor at high altitude. The second of the "Serie 5" or third-generation Italian wartime fighters with the DB 605 engine, 30 were in service at the time of the 1943 Armistice, and Fascist forces continued to use the 150 still in their possession until the end of the war.

Six hundred were supposed to have been built by Fiat, along with 250 Macchi M.C. 205s and 750 Reggiane Re. 2005s, but the armistice ended those plans. The Fiat design was faster than the Macchi at high altitude, and it was more powerfully armed as well. It was considered sturdier, but slower and less maneuverable compared to the Reggiane design. The 353rd Squadron took it operational in June, 1943.

After the war, production resumed, with Argentina and Syria buying the model. It continued in Italian service for several years.
The name is a rank rank Japanese fighter Battle-rating. It was introduced in Update 1.43.

The Allied reporting name for this plane was "Nate"; however, it was also called "Abdul" in the "China Burma India" theater by many post-war sources.

The Ki-27 is a frontline fighter for interwar/pre-WW2 historical engagements such as the Battles of Khalkin Gol. In most maps, the Ki-27 will distinguish itself as a low-level dogfighter: its performance below 1,000 m is superb and it can manoeuvre away from nearly any other comparable fighter. Like the Ki-10 series before it, the Ki-27 otsu suffers from its poor armament (twin 7.7 mm Type 89s) and weak armour, which means it makes for a poor interceptor despite its high speed, but the Ki-27 makes an excellent escort for bombers and flying boats to provide cover for their allied bombers.

General info
Flight performance
Specs-Avia-Flight
<!-- Describe how the aircraft behaves in the air. Speed, manoeuvrability, acceleration and allowable loads - these are the most important characteristics of the vehicle. -->
Like its Ki-10 predecessor, the Ki-27 relies on its manoeuvrability for its survival. Therefore, turnfighting is vital for a Ki-27 pilot. Avoid diving on opponents, due to the Ki-27's fuel feed issues, and focus on scaring enemy pursuers away from bombers rather than chasing a kill. A lone Ki-27 is easy prey for allied energy fighters. Like most Japanese fighters, engaging an enemy head-on is not recommended. If fighting an enemy energy fighter head-on, a good strategy is to turn away (usually a slight turn as you'll want him to miss you, but also pass you), and hope that he turns to follow.

Like the comparable A5M4, the Ki-27's carburettor engine suffers from fuel feed issues in negative G manoeuvres, like diving. Nosing down will cause the engine to choke out. Positive G manoeuvres like the Split-S are preferred. This issue will allow enemies to out dive the Ki-27, so engaging at low altitudes is preferred.

Additionally, the Ki-27 runs hot and will overheat at 100% throttle on all but the coldest maps. To cool off, ease the throttle back to 40% or 50% and, if possible, try to gain altitude. If the engine overheats during a dog fight, try to break off if the opportunity presents itself. No pilot can outmanoeuvre on an overheated engine.

Compared to the Ki-43-I, it has marginally better manoeuvrability with a very low stall speed around 91 km/h (49 knots) with landing flaps deployed. However, the Ki-27 retains the power-to-weight ratio of the Ki-10 biplane, allowing it to climb very steeply at a 45° climb angle.
The Ki-27 does not have any armour, so your great turn rate is the only real defence. The fuel tanks aren't self-sealing either, which only strengthens the need to use your great turn rate. There is one fuel tank above and behind the oil cooling system; the rest are in the wings, with 2 in each wing.
Type 89 (7.7 mm)

The PAGENAME is armed with:

* 2 x 7.7 mm Type 89 machine guns, nose-mounted (500 rpg = 1,000 total)

Usage in battles
<!-- Describe the tactics of playing in the aircraft, the features of using aircraft in a team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but instead, give the reader food for thought. Examine the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB). -->
A superior dogfighter for turn-fighting, the Ki-27 is the first plane to begin showing the features typical of the Japanese "Zero" but with none of the bite. Its speed and manoeuvrability are plagued by engine problems, with no armour and a standard armament.

In battle, no Allied fighter can out-turn you, except for biplanes, but most will outgun you (and even most biplanes match the Ki-27 in armament).

Biplanes make easy prey for the Ki-27, and it can easily outmaneuver the P-36 Hawk, the F2A Brewster Buffalo and the I-16 Ishak, but their stronger armaments will knock out a Ki-27 in a single good burst. Simply outrunning any of them is an excellent evasive maneuver. Hurricane Mk Is can strictly compete with the Ki-27 Otsu in maneuverability, but the Hurricane's heavier armament (four times that of the Ki-27) can also quickly shred a Ki-27. Additionally, outrunning a Hurricane in a Ki-27 is not possible. I-15s, which the Ki-27 historically outperformed, will be the bane of a Ki-27s existence, as their excellent turn ability will force it into energy bleeding maneuvers or Boom & Zoom style combat. Risky with competition around to abuse either state.

Despite its low battle rating, you can face some challenging foes when flying the Ki-27. Bi-planes will give you a run for your money in terms of maneuverability, while some early mono-planes will be faster and more heavily armed than you. Therefore, it is important to judge your foes accordingly.

One of the most challenging opponents is the I-153 M-62 Chaika. It is not a mere upgraded I-15bis, but in all performance aspects equal to the Nakajima Ki-27 fighter. Also on the Russian side, the Mig-3 is a significant threat. It is one of the fastest aircraft in its battle rating and has decent armament. In skilled hands, it can be an almost impossible opponent to combat, especially when using Boom & Zoom tactics against you. Your only defense will be to try and outmaneuver it or to lure it into a turn fight. The I-16 is also a familiar opponent.

From America, you will face the P-26. They are quite good divers and have a decent roll rate, but will not be able to outmaneuver you in a turn fight. The P-36 is more challenging. Faster and well armed, you will have to rely on your turn rate to try and outmaneuver them.

Then from Germany you also have the He 100D-1 which is just like the Mig-3; the He 100 is fast, very very fast. It's energy energy retention is fantastic as which means that it will bleed speed far slower than you. The best way to fight it will be try to lure it into a dogfight to bleed it's speed, if the He 100D-1 breaks off and runs away and is out of your shooting distance you should just break off, the German is no longer a threat. If one is above you can try to use your maneuverability to get it to overshoot, it does helps you that the He 100 compresses though.

The Nakajima Ki-27 otsu began as the Ki-11, a competitor for the Kawasaki Ki-10 biplane. While faster and more modern than the Ki-10 biplane, the Ki-11 wasn't adopted because the Imperial Japanese Army valued manoeuvrability over speed. Nakajima continued development of the design before finalising the Ki-12, a modern monoplane with a liquid-cooled engine and retractable landing gear, but the Army denied it outright as too maintenance heavy for forward airbases in Manchuria and China. The redesigned plane instead featured a radial air-cooled engine, fixed landing gear and fully enclosed cockpit and received the designation Ki-27.

In 1936, the Ki-27 competed against the Kawasaki Ki-28 (a prototype design fated to never enter production) and the Mitsubishi Ki-33 (a de-navalised A5M). While the Ki-33 outperformed the Ki-27 in most regards, the Imperial Japanese Army was loath to adopt a "navy fighter", and approved the Ki-27 with minor modifications. The Ki-27 entered service as the Army Type 97 Fighter.

While the Ki-10 would not be finally phased out from front line service until 1942, by 1940, the Ki-27 was the primary army fighter on the front lines. It was unmatched by any plane in the Chinese air force inventory, and outperformed the Soviet I-15 and I-16 fighters in the Battles of Khalkhin Gol, with some pilots scoring 11 kills against Soviet planes in a single day. Against Chinese Curtiss P-36 Hawks, veteran Ki-27 pilots achieved similar, but not as impressive kill rates.

Over China, the Ki-27 was unmatched until the deployment of the P-40 Warhawks with the American Volunteer Group. After America's entry into the war, the Ki-27 also fared poorly against the US Navy's F2A Brewster Buffalo and F4F Wildcat and was removed from most front line service within the first months of the war, replaced by the much-improved Ki-43. However, it remained a front line fighter in Thai service, where the Ki-27 scored recorded kills against P-51s and at least one P-38.

Because of their high production numbers and relatively few losses, Ki-27 would see a renewed role late in the war as Kamikaze planes.
The aircraft has a lightweight body and a good engine making it very capable of dealing with any kind of enemy. It has decent manoeuvrability for it's battle rating, although not as good as the other Yaks. It is most efficient up to 4,000 m (13,123 ft). It's not recommended to use in a turn fight, but if necessary extending the flaps helps a lot. It can climb well making flying away not so difficult. The Yak 7B can withstand from 10 G to -8 G.

The aircraft can take a few hits in the engine and in the hull. It's not fantastic, like the P-400, but is OK. It has 8 mm (0.31 in) of steel on the seat. You can avoid most of the enemy aircraft but stalling this fighter is a death wish. Any Bf-110 or the other Boom & Zoom type aircraft will kill you. It's effective to gradually reduce your speed and make circles clockwise to make enemies overshoot.

The Yak-7B is a versatile aircraft that can destroy both ground or air targets.

It is easiest to destroy anti-aircraft artillery or lightly armoured vehicles with your cannon, MG-s or suspended armaments. If you can aim your rockets good enough you can even destroy a tank. The easiest tactic for pounding ground targets is flying low and fast.

For destroying air targets you can get rockets and go head-on with light aircraft like: I-16, Japanese zero-s and biplanes. If encountering heavily armoured airplanes fire rockets from a safe distance and turn away. There are Boom & Zoom options for bombers and ground attack vehicles that come near the ground. Your most common targets should be: Beaufighters, IL-2 s, F-4U-s, Bf 109-s and Hurricanes. To deal with less manoeuvrable aircraft, force them into a turn and take your time. You have a very limited ammo storage and you should fire precisely.
Pros:

* Armament is a big step up from Yak-1: Nose-mounted 1 x 20 mm ShVAK & 2 x 12.7 mm UBS Machinegun proves a very effective combination
* Capable of using rockets for both air and ground targets

Cons:

* No WEP, prone to overheating in realistic and simulator battles
* Engine underperforms above 4,000 m; incapable of intercepting high-altitude bombers
* Worse manoeuvrability compared to all other Yakovlev fighter series
* The wooden airframe can't sustain high compression during dive in high speed, resulting in wing rips above 500 km/h
* Any kind of fire will quickly spread across the plane
The Yakovlev Yak-7 was originally intended as a two-seat trainer version of the Yak-1 fighter plane for the Soviet Air Force and only armed with 1 x 7.62 mm ShKAS MG for gunnery practice. Eventually, engineers at the Yakovlev Design Bureau modified the plane into a single-seat fighter superior to the Yak-1. The plane was armed with a single, propeller-mounted 20 mm ShVAK autocannon and 2 x ShKAS machine guns in the engine cowling and included armour for the cockpit. The plane was quickly adopted by the air force and production was approved by late 1941. Unfortunately, Operation Barbarossa, the German invasion of the USSR had already begun and the relocation of factories to the Urals and more pressing needs elsewhere meant only 65 were available at the end of the year. Though it would see service as a fighter and interceptor, the aircraft was more often used as a fighter-bomber due to its ability to carry bombs and rockets for use against the Nazi and Italian ground forces. The Yak-7B would be introduced in 1942 and had a reduced wingspan, improved on-board systems, and an easier-to-produce undercarriage compared to the Yak-7A. Production of the Yak-7B would amount to over 5,000 aircraft produced. It would later see service with Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Mongolia, Poland, and Yugoslavia, which only received 2 Yak-7V planes. The Free French Air Force Normandie-Niemen squadron would also employ the plane on the Eastern Front, eager to get revenge against the Luftwaffe that had bested them on the home front.

In-game description
This Soviet single-engine fighter was based on the Yak-7UTI, a tandem-seat advanced trainer based on the Yak-1. The first Yak-7B rolled off the production line at Yakovlev in 1942; the last one was made in 1944.

The Yak-7B's armaments consisted of two 12.7 mm Berezin machine guns and one 20 mm ShVAK cannon. In addition, bombs aboard the plane could be suspended. In all, the plane's manufacturer made more than 5,000 Yak-7Bs.
The name is a rank rank Soviet fighter Battle-rating. It was introduced in Update 1.43.

The Yak-1 is a fairly good turn fighter. Although not as good as Spitfires around the same BR, it is better than some of the German aircraft. The aircraft has good diving speed and energy retention, however, without slats, it cannot out-turn a Bf 109 F in a vertical loop. This aircraft performs best at medium-low altitudes. Due to its small wings and poor rate of climb at higher altitudes, it is lacking as a high altitude fighter. The aircraft can be used as a horizontal turn fighter, but one must be careful to be on the lookout for Boom & Zoomers. If the situation gets worse, a possible escape can be flying low level at high speed or trying an energy-retaining climb. While this aircraft should not be wasted on a ground attack, as a last resort it can be used to destroy unarmoured ground targets if the last flying opponent happens to be running away. The aircraft does perform well at lower speeds, yet it becomes very vulnerable to most enemy aircraft including biplanes.

Used well, the Yak-1 can be an unstoppable flying machine. Two of the most important things a Yak-1 pilot should aim for are the opponent's cockpit (pilot sniping) or wings. These are typically the weakest spots of an aircraft where a good shot can knock-out the enemy pilot or snap off a wing with a few well-placed rounds. The ShVAK is a fantastic 20 mm cannon if the pilot's aim is good! This cannon has an excellent rate of fire, unfortunately, it is paired with a barely adequate amount of ammunition which can be used up quickly. Mounted alongside the ShVAK are two 7.62 ShKAS machine guns. Much like the cannon, the machine guns do not have a large ammo pool to draw from. Yak-1 pilots always need to be mindful on how much ammo remains after an encounter or risk being pounced on by more manoeuvrable enemies when out of ammunition (or while reloading in AB).

An Achilles Heel of the Yak-1 is that it lacks armour protection. Head-on attacks from an enemy risk the pilot being knocked out by flying rounds or the water coolant radiator being hit. With a leaking water radiator, the Yak-1 will suffer engine failure within a few minutes (in RB mode). The engine of the Yak-1, like most Soviet fighter engines, tends to overheat quickly and stays running hot. One way to combat overheating is to run the engine at 97% of maximum and limiting usage of WEP. Manual engine control (MEC) can be used to keep the Yak's engine running cool at 100% power, though this means that prop pitch, fuel mixture, and supercharger gears must be manually adjusted in addition to the radiators (In Realistic mode, you can always use MEC while climbing, then switch back to automatic once you are dogfighting). If the aircraft is damaged, the Yak-1 pilot can check the cockpit's instrument panel and observe the oil temperature gauge as this will give a more accurate state of the engine than the water temperature gauge. The wings of the Yak-1 are also vulnerable to enemy fire, being rather fragile and full of fuel tanks.
Due to the Yak-1's manoeuvrability and armament, the main role will be employed as a fighter in the game. The Yak-1 can be used as a turn fighter (see next section for aircraft to avoid while turn fighting), boom & zoomer or energy fighter. The Yak-1 performs well in the mid to lower altitudes but loses mobility in the higher altitudes.

* Ground attack: This should be avoided due to low speeds needed allowing the Yak-1 to become an easy target for enemy aircraft (especially biplanes).

* Bomber hunting: This is a risky option as bombers typically fly in the higher altitudes where the Yak-1 starts losing its manoeuvrability. The lack of armour on the Yak-1 makes it vulnerable to turret gunners and it is very easy to lose the pilot, engine or a wing to them. When hunting bombers, the Yak-1 can utilise a head-on approach going for the pilots (pilot sniping) or the engines; otherwise employ the speed of the Yak-1 by diving from a higher altitude towards the front of the bomber aiming for the cockpit, engine or wings. If failing to destroy the bomber on the first pass, exercise patience and set up for another diving pass, any other way the Yak-1 risks bleeding crucial speed in making a quick turn in an attempt to finish off the bomber. Here, quick turns will expose the Yak-1 to any turrets on the plane which would otherwise have a very difficult time acquiring a firing solution on a zooming fighter which is quickly out of their range.

Specific enemies worth noting
<!--Some concerning vehicles to worry about if playing this plane. (i.e. Japanese fighters will out turn you)-->

* Spitfires: The Spitfire's superior turning ability gives it an edge over the Yak-1's manoeuvrability. Turn fighting against a Spitfire is very difficult in a Yak-1, usually resulting in the Yak-1 being unable to shake or outrun the Spitfire. Baring any mistakes made by the Spitfire pilot, the Yak-1 will have a very difficult time gaining an advantage or escaping.

* A6M Zeroes: Much like the Spitfires, the A6M Zeros are superior turn fighters and have the added bonus of being armed with 20 mm auto cannons giving the Japanese fighter a firepower boost against the Yak-1.
* Bf 109 Friedrichs: The Bf 109 F1 is at the same br as the Yak-1, the Bf 109 F is faster, climbs better, has better energy retention, and better all around high altitude performance than the Yak-1. The Yak-1 should attempt to lure the Bf 109 into a low altitude(below 3000m) turnfight where the Yak has the advantage.

Counter-tactics
<!--What to expect, if it would be in command of the enemy and how to counter it. (i.e. They will most likely BnZ, etc.)-->
When attacking a Yak-1, specific areas to exploit:

* When attacking in a Spitfire or A6M Zero, engage in a turn fight, bait the Yak-1 into tight turns to bleed its speed.
* Bait the Yak-1 to higher altitudes, the higher it goes, the less manoeuvrable it becomes and the more limited their options become.
* The Yak-1 does not have any armour plates in the front and is susceptible to pilot sniping, wing snapping, engine/fuel tank fires and overheating with a few well-placed shots from cannons or machine guns.
* Non-turn fighting aircraft should rely on Boom & Zoom tactics in an attempt to take out a Yak-1.

If there's a Yak-1 on the tail:

* If your plane has similar or better turn compare to the Yak-1 drastically reduce speed and turn in hopes of an overshoot.
* If your plane is faster or has better high speed performance than the Yak-1 dive at a high angle and make evasive maneuvers, the Yak-1 has a low rip speed and compresses at high speed.
* Keep moving around, try to keep your cockpit at an 180 degree angle to the Yak-1, so the Yak-1 cannot get acquire a firing solution with its cannon, causing the Yak-1 to expend all of its rounds (in AB this then gives a ~40-second window to attempt to get away or reverse roles before the Yak-1 cannon has reloaded).
* Drag the Yak-1 back towards teammates and set the Yak-1 up to be an easy target for comrades/teammate to take out.
Pros and cons
<!-- Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list.
Pros:

* Highly manoeuvrable.
* Good acceleration and top speed at low altitudes.
* Even though its frame is constructed of wood, the Yak can take a lot of punishment and still perform well.
* Powerful cannon with limited ammo/dual machine guns with an adequate amount of ammo.

Cons:

* Engine overheats quite easily, forcing the pilot to slow down or return to base to allow it to cool (engine is notorious for overheating and ceasing to work mid-dogfight if run at 100% or WEP). Operating the engine at 97% reduces chances for engine overheating while maintaining very good aircraft performance.
* Elevator compresses at high speeds, so turning or pulling up in a dive can be a struggle.
* No armour to protect the pilot from the front, engine or fuel tanks, almost doomed if set on fire.
* Wings are an easy target when trying to loop in a dogfight, and they almost always get hit.
* Cannon ammo runs out very quickly if not carefully monitored (in AB, reloading at every opportunity is advised).
* Single powerful gun requires good aim and knowledge of aircraft weak spots to be used effectively ("spray and pray" causes ammo to deplete very quickly).

In 1939 the Soviet Command was looking for a replacement for their outdated I-153 Chaikas and I-16 Ishaks. Yakovlev was part of a Soviet delegation on a visit to the German aviation industry in October 1939. His interest was in aerodynamic design and during a visit at Heinkel, their new radiator lacking He 100 fighter was shown to them. Three (or ten) vehicles were bought by the CCCP. While the He 100 was producing record level top speeds, the surface cooling technology and other handling characteristics tainted the aircraft with the Soviets and were marked unsuitable, like in Germany.<ref name="Main Source">German Wikipedia, figuratively translated, From the German Wikipedia Yak-1 article. Already by January 1940 a first prototype was ready for taking off. Baptized I-26 (Istrebitel -> Fighter), the test flights were marked by a horrible accident as Julian I. Piontkowski, a test pilot for every Yakovlev plane, crashed and died. Fortunately for the plane's designers, the aircraft's construction was not found to be the cause of the accident and state supervised tests continued until November 1940. Serial production subsequently started in December 1940 under the new designation "Yak-1".

Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but instead, give the reader food for thought. Examine the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).

Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective". -->

Pros:

* Highly manoeuvrable.

The aircraft does perform well at lower speeds, as it has high stall speed and does not have good stall performance. At low speeds it becomes very vulnerable to most enemy aircraft including biplanes and passing bombers.

* A drastic speed reduction and turn in hopes of an overshoot.
* Keep moving around so the Yak-1 cannot get acquire a firing solution with its cannon, causing the Yak-1 to expend all of its rounds (in AB this then gives a ~40-second window to attempt to get away or reverse roles before the Yak-1 cannon has reloaded).
* Drag the Yak-1 back towards teammates and set the Yak-1 up to be an easy target for comrades to take out.
Pros and cons
<!-- Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective". -->

Pros:

* Highly manoeuvrable.

History
The name is a rank rank German fighter Battle-rating. It was introduced in Update 1.35.

Würger is the German nickname of this beast of a plane. It can be translated as a slayer, choker, or strangler. In that regard fits the English designation well too: Butcher-bird

190s are fighters, and while this one can load additional payload, it will reduce the plane's combat ability. Using it as a fighter-bomber is generally not advised, this would be the duty of the Fw 190 F-8 instead.

Rocking four 20 mm cannons, an armoured radial engine, armoured fuel tanks, and sometimes two artillery rockets, this aircraft is far from shy in the role of giving and taking. Anything at 12 o'clock is soon to be dead. The wing root mounted cannons should be additionally placed on a separate key for head-on attacks. The outer-wing guns would only miss on distances of 800-1,000 m (~0.7 miles). This also helps for tricky shots since the second pair of 20 mm cannons only have 90 shots each, instead of the whopping 250 of the inner ones.

The rockets are an interesting piece of equipment. Developed from the 210 Nebelwerfer artillery system, they were initially used to break up B-17E formations by forcing the US pilots to evade them. The main goal of the rockets was not to destroy the bombers; instead, this tactic meant separating the scattering bombers, allowing the attacking aircraft to get closer to their targets safely without the crossfire of coverage. The Gr.21 has the same shell drop as the MK 108 cannon, so if you are already used to it from flying the 109, well done. If not, which wouldn't be a surprise as this is the page for the Fw 190, then prepare for some misses. Like the "Sledgehammer" Mk 108, the accuracy is woeful and is not made better by its low velocity. This is a characteristic noticeable in the game, which makes them difficult to use in direct fighter to fighter engagements. But all of these deficits are made up by the warhead. Oh boy. They've got power. With the fuse timer set correctly, even misses will damage enemy planes, as the shock wave radius gets close to 100 m. So watch out when using them against ground units as there is a good chance you will likely kill yourself in the process., Keeping over 100 m safety distance is strongly advised!
Examine the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB). -->
The Fw 190 A-5, as all the planes in this line, is one of the best Boom and Zoomers in the game and should be flown exclusively in this style. The performance at high speeds is excellent, as is their dive and zoom characteristics. Do not ever engage in a turn fight, as this will most likely end badly. Instead, fight only in the vertical. Try to have an altitude or speed advantage over your opponents (by climbing to the side at the start of the battle and then enter the highest battle you see). But you can still win fights when you are lower in energy than your foe.

In the defensive, you can often dive away from planes, such as Spitfires and La-5s. Still, you need to be at a decent altitude to gain your top speed, so do not be too quick to dive after an enemy, if they fly below your plane, unless you are higher then everybody else or alone. Just be sure to have the time to regain the lost altitude.

In a dive, due to its short wings, the Fw 190 can pull some stunts to either lose the hunter or even make him lose his wings! This is a promising strategy against La-5s, Yaks & Spitfires, who have low wing loading (and partly wooden wings for the Russians), less resistance against high G manoeuvres. Again, be sure to regain your energy by a zoom-climb. Just look out while doing so, many pilots die as they do not notice a second enemy aircraft approaching. German proverb: Wenn Zwei sich streiten, freut sich der Dritte. ~ "When two quarrel, the third will reap the success." Of course, this could also be you.

Pros:

* Excellent firepower
* Excellent roll rate
* Anti-bomber rockets can obliterate enemy bombers and large aircraft when used correctly
* Rockets can destroy medium tanks in Realistic Battles
* Well armoured from the front
* Great at Boom & Zoom tactics
* Lots of 20 mm ammunition
* Performs very well in dives
* Decent climb rate when upgraded
* Features the highest amount of unlockable camouflage available in the German tech tree
* Engine doesn't overheat fast if you researched radiator

Cons:

* Slow climb rate stock
* Slight engine damage will severely reduce performance
* Not much defensive flying possibilities (only dive and scissors)
* Loses power above 5,000 m steadily, not good at high altitude
* Poor stall control
* Poor turn rate
In-game description
A single-seat all-metal cantilever monoplane with a low wing.

An aircraft designed by the Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau GmbH design office under the direction of Kurt Tank. The designers intended to build a new easy-to-operate fighter with powerful weaponry and a durable structure. In contrast to the Bf.109, the "race horse", which sacrificed speed for operational qualities, the FW.190 was to become the Luftwaffe's "work horse".

The first prototype FW.190V1 took its maiden flight on 1 June 1939. The aircraft went into series production in June 1941 and appeared on the Western Front in August.

In November 1942, the FW.190A-5 variation went into series production. This model differed from the A-4 series in that the forward section of its fuselage had been slightly enlarged. This measure significantly improved the fighter's responsiveness. The aircraft's design and equipment had changed slightly in other respects as well. It had been equipped with a new horizon indicator and an advanced oxygen system. The FuG25 identification friend or foe (IFF) repeater had become a standard part of the aircraft's radio equipment.

The FW.190A-5 was powered by the 1,800 hp 14-cylinder twin-row air-cooled Bayerische Motoren Werke BMW801D radial engine with a double-speed supercharger and a direct fuel injection system.

In the standard fighter variation, the FW.190A-5's guns consisted of two 7.92 mm synchronized Rheinmetall-Borsig MG17 machine guns in the fuselage above the engine with 1,000 rounds each and two 20 mm synchronized Mauser MG151/20 cannons in the wing root with 250 shells each. It was sometimes equipped with two 20 mm Ikaria/Oerlikon MG FF cannons with 90 shells each, mounted on the wing panels outside the propeller's radius.

An entire range of extra Umbausatze conversion kits were developed for the FW.190A-5, which were both built in series and used for the experimental development of various types of new equipment. The FW.190A-5/U14 variation was a torpedo-armed fighter capable of carrying the LT F5b torpedo. The FW.190A-5/U15 was tested with the planned Blohm und Voss BV246 bomb, and another variation, the FW.190A-5/R6, was tested with 280 mm W.Gr.28 rockets.

In total, assembly lines produced 1,752 FW.190A-5s between November 1942 and June 1943.
