== Usage in battles ==
<!-- ''Describe the tactics of playing in the aircraft, the features of using aircraft in a team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but instead, give the reader food for thought. Examine the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).'' -->
The main tactic for the Tempest II is high-speed combat. With a weight of over 5,000 kg, and a peak WEP power of 2,500 hp it can accelerate very fast in a dive. This means that less altitude is traded for the same gain in speed compared to other props.

The second main benefit from the extra weight is that the plane can hold the speed gained from a dive for a long time. Additionally, the plane has a very sleek airframe, which means that its top speed is one of the highest of any prop in the game. Considering this data, the plane should be flown in high-speed shallow manoeuvres.

Against jets, the tactics are reversed. Jets are faster and heavier, thus shallow angles should be avoided. Steep angle energy fighting and turn fighting should be applied.
Few exceptions against jets should be made. The Ho 229 will out turn the Tempest II, but upwards spirals at high speed are an effective way to burn away the 229's energy and they are easily trapped.

The second exception is the Meteor F Mk.3. This plane outperforms or is on par in every aspect except for, hilariously enough, top speed on the deck.

The third and last are the Yak-15/17. They turn better, but their diving speed is a lot lower than the Tempest II's.

'''''Versus the Tempest''''':

There's not much one can do while a Tempest II is diving on your aircraft, as it'll blitz you before you know it and will be gone just as fast. Most smart Tempest pilots stay around 2,500-3,500 meters so they can keep their engine performance and have the ability to abuse their dive speed. If you are able to catch a Tempest mid-turn or if it's unaware of your presence, it becomes significantly easier to take down considering most aircraft at the tier can turn circles around it. Try to catch them in a manoeuvre trap and force them to bleed their speed for an easy kill.

'''Pros:'''

* Strong engine providing excellent performance below 3,000 m (9,840 ft)
* Dives very well (low parasitic drag)
* Excellent acceleration
* Very high straight-line speed for a propeller-driven aircraft (Fastest infinite WEP prop)
* Solid firepower
* Very agile at moderate speeds
* Reasonably decent roll rate
* Can land on carriers if absolutely necessary

'''Cons:'''

* Poor performance at high altitudes
* Often gets matches with early rank 5 aircraft
* Sub-par turning radius
* Difficult to aim at high speed
* Doesn't climb as well as its German or Italian counterparts
The creation of this plane also came with an older counterpart, the Tempest Mk V. The Mk II has a different engine than the Mk V which is why they seem different. The Mk II's were used later in the war than the Mk V's.

=== In-game description ===
The Hawker Tempest Mk.II was a single seat fighter powered by a single Bristol Centaurus radial engine. After the Hawker Typhoon had proved unsatisfactory in its originally intended role as an interceptor, Hawker continued their work on viable options for a replacement aircraft.

The Hawker Tornado project had been run with two separate engine options concurrently; after the Tornado was cancelled the idea of trialing two separate engines was applied to Hawker's new venture, then entitled the Typhoon II. After major design changes and with a perceived lack of confidence in the Typhoon name, the aircraft was designated the Tempest. The original prototypes were planned as the Tempest I with the Sabre IV engine and the Tempest V with the Sabre II. Shortly after this, two Tempest Mk.IIs were ordered with the 18 cylinder Bristol Centaurus engine, rated at 2520 hp. An order for 500 Tempest IIs was placed in October 1942, before the prototype had even first taken to the air. The first flight occurred in June 1943 before the Bristol Aeroplane Company began production, completing construction of its first example in October 1944, joining the two prototypes to continue trials. After delays in the Tempest II program the aircraft type was originally intended for use against the Japanese in the Far East but entered service just too late for the operations in the Second World War.

The first two Tempest II squadrons were No.54 and No.247 in autumn 1945. Only two squadrons of Tempest IIs operated from the UK mainland itself. With the war's end the demand for high numbers of Hawker's new fighter no longer remained and aircraft contracts were reduced significantly. Whilst 'Tiger Force' – the planned force for the Far East – had been cancelled, the RAF still opted to deploy 180 Tempest IIs to the Far East between 1946 and 1947. Four squadrons were stood up in India and used in policing actions in the local area before the aircraft were handed over to the Royal Indian Air Force. The Tempest II was also used as part of the British Forces of Occupation in Germany until July 1949. Only 552 Tempest IIs were built, serving with the RAF, India and Pakistan.
== Usage in battles ==

The creation of this plane also came with an older counterpart, the Tempest Mk V. The Mk II has a different engine than the Mk V which is why they seem different. The Mk II's were used later in the war than the Mk V's.

=== In-game description ===

== Usage in the battles ==
<!--''Describe the tactics of playing in an aircraft, the features of using vehicles in a team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but give the reader food for thought. [[File:FighterImage_Spitfire_F_Mk_24.jpg|thumbnail|right|The new wing shape and larger control surfaces of the 22/24 series are a distinctive feature of the aircraft.]]
The Spitfire F Mk 22 an excellent plane in realistic battle with relatively few weakness, henceforth the enemy will have a really hard time shaking the Spitfire off of its tail and only few will succeed.

It is very important to avoid hard turning or rolling above 500 kph IAS, because the plane may lose its wing.

The main task for a pilot is to utilize the great climb rate (altitude = control engagements). Target altitude should usually be around 5-6 km on smaller maps and 6-7 km on larger maps such as Norway and Spain. The main form of attack (especially when there are more fighters around the target) is Boom & Zoom. Energy fighting is an option too, if in 1 vs 1 situation. The Griffon Spitfire is an excellent energy fighter, the namesake Griffon engine provides a tremendous amount of horsepower which can be used instead of energy retention (-> Boom & Zoom). Remember to maintain speed, altitude advantage, and judge the enemies energy state.

====Specific enemies worth noting====
<!--Some concerning vehicles to worry about if playing this plane. (i.e. Japanese fighters will out turn you)-->
Griffon Spitfire can keep up with most enemies in turn fights, excluding most Japanese fighters and Bf 109s, both of which are more agile. Try to maintain a speed of between 500-400 kph IAS; this is where the plane maintains great agility, turning bellow this velocity against planes such as the [[Bf 109 G-14|109G-14]] is really not recommended. When fighting Soviet fighters it is NOT recommended to duel them between 1-4 km altitude.

'''Pros:'''

* 4 x cannons with a high rate of fire
* Excellent climb rate
* Quite agile at medium and higher speeds
* Very responsive elevator(starts to lock at speeds above 600 kph IAS)
* Brutal acceleration when using WEP
* Good performance at higher altitudes
* Good roll rate

'''Cons:'''

* From time to time, pitted against jets which can be tricky to outmanoeuvre
* Poor agility at lower speeds and significant drag/mass ratio at high speeds limits optimal combat speed range
* Easily set on fire due to the location of the fuel tanks
* Landing gear rips very easily during take-off and landing travelling in excess of 260 kph
* Landing flaps also break off at roughly the same speed as the gear
* Somewhat sluggish without utilizing WEP

=== In-game description ===
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.22 was a single engine, single seat fighter which served with the Royal Air Force during the early post war period. When the first Rolls Royce Griffon equipped Spitfires were tested it was obvious that a stronger airframe would be needed to harness the full power of the new engine. Added to this was the requirement for a much stiffer wing; the result of these findings was the Spitfire Mk.21. The Mk.21 was also fitted with larger ailerons and the same 2050 hp Griffon 65 engine which was fitted to the Mk.XIV and Mk.XVIII. By this point in the aircraft’s life, the Spitfire was so different from RJ Mitchell’s original concept that the notion of renaming the new aircraft the ‘Victor’ was considered.

The Air Fighting Development Unit at RAF Boscombe Down began to test the Mk.21 in late 1944, but were deeply unhappy with the new Spitfire and recommended that no further attempts were made to progress the basic Spitfire design. Chief amongst the AFDU’s complaints was directional instability: Supermarine attempted to solve this problem by modifying the control surfaces. It was only with the introduction of a new, enlarged tailfin and tail plane which finally solved the instability problems.

The Mk.22 differed from the Mk.21 only in having a teardrop bubble canopy – a change which had not required a new mark number in previous Spitfires – and a different electrical system. The Mk.22, as with the Mk.21, was armed with four 20mm Hispano cannons. The Mk.22 was more prolific and more successful than the Mk.21, with some 280 aircraft being manufactured. It was used to equip No.73 Squadron and twelve squadrons of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force. In 1955 the Spitfire Mk.22 was declared obsolete by the RAF and many were exported to South Rhodesia, Syria and Egypt.
