The VYa-23 is the cannon used mainly in the Ilyushin 2 series of attack aircraft as well as in other developments such as the Su-6 and the and the IL-10

== General info ==
The VYa-23 has a Rate Of Fire of 600 rounds per minute, considered high for its time and for its caliber, thanks to its slightly higher caliber it is capable to pierce through the roof of most tanks from the top, simultaneously it is capable of quickly disabling or destroying most light tanks and Self Propelled Anti Air Systems

In real life however the Development of the VYa was not continued due to its low Anti Tank capacity while used in the IL-2 which couldn't take complete advantage of the VYa against Tanks, for this purpose the IL-2 would be fit with the NS-37

=== Comparison with analogues ===
The VYa 23 is one of the best Anti-tank Automatic Cannons in the Soviet Union tech tree, although other autocannons from the soviet union have similar calibers and are more prevalent, they do not share similar penetration, on the other hand the SH-37 NS-37 and NS-45 in the soviet tech tree can get a higher penetration with similar damage at the cost of a lower rate of fire

Meanwhile in other nations there are only two automatic Cannons which can surpass the VYa both in terms of penetration and in rate of fire those two being the 30mm MK-103 and the 15mm MG151 both present in the Attack Aircraft branches of the German Tech Tree

== Usage in battles ==
In Tank Realistic Battles it can be used to support tanks by destroying motors or fuel tanks as well as destroy light tanks and SPAA trying to flank or trying to reach a strategic point

In Air Realistic Battles it can easily destroy light forts by aiming to the top of them making them a great threat to the enemy
