The Su-11 can easily be one of the best aircraft at its BR, especially when piloted by an experienced -- or at least knowledgeable -- player. Her primary strength is her excellent acceleration, relative to other contemporary jets. She also has excellent energy retention (ER) and average to good manouvering energy retention (MER). &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In general, the best tactic with the Su-11 is to play to her strengths, as with any vehicle; In the Su-11's case, particularly her acceleration and ER can be exploited. Take off from the airfield, and level out quickly. Don't bother gaining initial altitude, jet engines -- particularly early jet engines -- accelerate better at sea level. Turn at least 30 degrees away from the center of the map, and build up speed. You'll want to build up to about 725 kph - 805 kph (450 mph to 500 mph), and then place the aircraft into a 20-30 degree zoom climb (steady-state climbing is possible in this aircraft, but like most early jets, zoom climbing is most efficient). This will take you well above 3.5 km, usually closer to 5 km. Dive on unsuspecting enemies, particularly aircraft that don't maneuver well, and once they're destroyed, begin a 20-30 degree zoom climb to regain your lost altitude. Your ER is excellent, and you can typically regain all your lost altitude, if not gain on top of it.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Usually enemies on your tail can at least be out-accelerated, which causes most players to lose interest in you and break off the chase, even if their aircraft's top speed is higher than yours. Use this to your advantage. Manouverability is average, but certainly not poor. The Su-11's MER is excellent, however. If forced to dogfight and opponent whose vehicle has similar maneuverability, simply drain them of their energy with long, sweeping movements.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
While the Su-11's armament packs a punch, excellent marksmanship is an absolute necessity. Her cannon's low ammo pool (x200 23 mm rounds, x30 37 mm rounds, 230 rounds total) is compounded by a relatively low rate of fire (on both cannons), and the rounds are also relatively low velocity (especially the 37 mm  round). However, the rounds are extremely powerful, with the 37 mm round able to destroy heavy bombers in 1-2 hits, and the 23 mm round able to destroy lighter aircraft with 1-2 hits. If you are not comfortable with the cannons, your best option is to get as close as possible before opening fire to ensure a kill.&lt;br /&gt;

The Su-9 was an early Soviet jet fighter built using knowledge and parts derived from the German Me 262 jet fighter.&lt;br /&gt;

The Su-11 was a project in 1946 to mount Yakovlev versions of the RD-10F engines in the Su-9 jet fighter. After testing the Su-9 in the wind tunnel, it was found that engines mounted in the wings rather than underneath reduced drag and that the wingtips also needed a redesign. As such, the Su-11 received a completely redesigned wing and before completion it was also received the Lyulka TR-1 turbojet engines. The two engines produced 2,865 lbf of thrust each for 5930 lbf of thrust total.&lt;br /&gt;

The Su-11 can easily be one of the best aircraft at its BR, especially when piloted by an experienced -- or at least knowledgeable -- player. Her primary strength is her excellent acceleration, relative to other contemporary jets. She also has excellent energy retention (ER) and average to good maneuvering energy retention (MER). &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In general, the best tactic with the Su-11 is to play to her strengths, as with any vehicle; In the Su-11's case, particularly her acceleration and ER can be exploited. Take off from the airfield, and level out quickly. Don't bother gaining initial altitude, jet engines -- particularly early jet engines -- accelerate better at sea level. Turn at least 30 degrees away from the center of the map, and build up speed. You'll want to build up to about 725 kph - 805 kph (450 mph to 500 mph), and then place the aircraft into a 20-30 degree zoom climb (steady-state climbing is possible in this aircraft, but like most early jets, zoom climbing is most efficient). This will take you well above 3.5 km, usually closer to 5 km. Dive on unsuspecting enemies, particularly aircraft that don't maneuver well, and once they're destroyed, begin a 20-30 degree zoom climb to regain your lost altitude. Your ER is excellent, and you can typically regain all your lost altitude, if not gain on top of it.&lt;br /&gt;

Usually enemies on your tail can at least be out-accelerated, which causes most players to lose interest in you and break off the chase, even if their aircraft's top speed is higher than yours. A total of 240 P-80B fighter-bombers were built from March 1947 to March 1948, including P-80B-1s and 31 P-80B-5s. The В-5 variant was intended to be operated in Arctic conditions; its heated canopy prevented icing. This F-80 must be flown strictly as Boom-and-Zoom, or Boom-and-Run. Anything else does not work due to the aircraft's inferior acceleration compared to props and some Axis jets at certain speeds. While its manoeuvring energy retention (MER) is relatively poor - as with most early jets - its vertical and horizontal energy retention (ER) is decent.&lt;br /&gt;

At the beginning of the match, the F-80 should climb away from the potential combat zone. Two climbs can be used; a 'standard' steady-state climb, keeping the aircraft at a fixed angle or speed, optimally no greater than 10-12 degrees; or, ideally, a zoom climb. To accomplish this, take off, and away from the 'centre' of the battlefield, as you would to start a 'normal' side-climb. However, the Shooting Star should be kept relatively level, an angle of no greater than 5-7 degrees should be maintained, preferably lower. To reach well over 3 km (10,000 ft), build your speed to approximately 800 km/h (500 mph), and only then place the F-80 in a 10-20 degree climb. If you need or want to get into the battle quicker, before you begin the zoom-climb, execute a 'diving-turn' towards the centre of the battlefield (so as to maintain as much of your built-up airspeed as possible), then put yourself into the zoom-climb (this is slightly riskier, as you'll be entering a low energy state as you enter the centre of the battlefield; if an enemy aircraft has managed to climb above you, this may leave you in a precarious position). To reach around 2.5-2.75 km (8,000-9,000 ft), reaching 485-540 km/h (300-400 mph) is ideal.&lt;br /&gt;

For ground strike, the F-80 is a decent aircraft, carrying the USAF standard of bombs, rockets, and ground attack belts. It is not recommended to hit ground targets unless an enemy bomber is spaceclimbing, however; this is a fighter and not a lumbering attacker, and should be used as an air-superiority fighter.&lt;br /&gt;

In air combat, the F-80 performs admirably if flown to its strengths, i.e. boom-and-zoom. Dive on enemy targets, take a shot, and then execute a shallow to medium zoom climb. While the six nose-mounted .50 calibre M2 Brownings are beginning to show their age, they are still more than equal to the task, especially at the F-80's BR. Early jet engines do not take kindly to any sort of damage, and a slew of .50 calibre rounds are more than enough to wreak havoc on small-to-medium airframes. While its biggest con is simply lacking the hitting-power of HE-filled cannon rounds, the six HMGs have enough pros to make up for this shortcoming. First off, with some trigger discipline, a good marksman can down 4, or even 5 enemy aircraft, due to your relatively plentiful ammunition. Secondly, the high velocity of the rounds serve well with the increasing speeds of the jet age; Some cannon rounds can be difficult to hit fast-moving targets with due to their lower velocity. Lastly, all six guns are nose-mounted, packing the shot-grouping into a relatively small area. Though the aircraft design was promising, it soon became evident that the aircraft's rushed development had led to a variety of design flaws. The aircraft was hypersensitive in pitch, had engine and flap issues, and even baked the pilot as the cockpit temperature rose to a sweltering 180 degrees Fahrenheit (82 degrees Celsius) during flight&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;:1&amp;quot; /&amp;gt;. However, following a large funding boost, the major issues (including the cooked pilot) were solved. By late 1944, the P-80 program was a similar priority level as the B-29, and 1000 aircraft had already been ordered. This massive rush resulted in many fatalities - Lockheed's chief test pilot was killed following an engine failure, while four additional pilots (including Major Richard Bong) were killed in various accidents. The rising number of fatalities brought the P-80 program to a halt - as a result, the aircraft was given a large number of safety modifications to improve it's reliability in flight&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;:1&amp;quot; /&amp;gt;. However, the biggest hit came in September of 1945, with the end of WWII. The USAF, looking to reduce costs, cut the total orders from 5000 to 2000. A total of 240 P-80B fighter-bombers were built from March 1947 to March 1948, including P-80B-1s and 31 P-80B-5s. The В-5 variant was intended to be operated in Arctic conditions; its heated canopy prevented icing. The main purpose of the F-80 is to teach a pilot how to fly jets in general. If a pilot is doing well (read: has even or close to even k/d) in the F-80, he's ready to move to higher-ranked jets. Never give up your speed: it is the plane's insurance. Only trade it for the altitude in zoom climbs!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Be careful that the jet is up-tiered quite a lot. When this happens, strictly adhere to the rules set forth in this article or you will be at a great disadvantage.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
One thing to take note of is the M2 Brownings. Sadly, they are insufficient for high-speed combat due to the low rate of fire and subsequently limited damage output; be aware, however, that they still pack a punch in partial headons with 262s, 229s, and the like. The issue is later on fixed with the [[Browning M3 (12.7 mm)|M3 Browning]] on the successor [[F-80C-10|F-80C ''Shooting star'']], but the ammunition load still remains low, like on the [[P-51D-5|P-51D]]. As for piston planes: they are capable of setting enemy piston planes on fire in a short burst. All of the guns are mounted in the nose, making them deadly accurate when performing head-ons, especially once the &amp;quot;new 12 mm MGs&amp;quot; modification is installed. For ground attack, there is the usual complement of an ordinance for the USAF: [[HVAR]] rockets and standard 1000 lb bombs.&lt;br /&gt;

This F-80 must be flown strictly as Boom-and-Zoom, or Boom-and-Run. Anything else does not work due to the aircraft's inferior acceleration compared to props and some Axis jets at certain speeds. While it's maneuvering energy retention (MER) is relatively poor -- as with most early jets -- it's vertical and horizontal energy retention (ER) is decent.&lt;br /&gt;

At the beginning of the match, the F-80 needs to climb away from the potential combat zone. Two climbs can be used; A 'standard' steady-state climb, keeping the aircraft at a fixed angle or speed, optimally no greater than 10-12 degrees; Or, ideally, a zoom climb. To accomplish this, take off, and away from the 'center' of the battlefield, as you would to start a 'normal' side-climb.' However, the Shooting Star should be kept relatively level, an angle of no greater than 5-7 degrees should be maintained, preferably lower. To reach well over 10,000ft or 3km, build your speed to approximately 500mph or 805kph, and only then place the F-80 in a 10-20 degree climb. Early jet engines do not take kindly to any sort of damage, and a slew of .50 caliber rounds are more than enough to wreak havoc on small-to-medium airframes. While its biggest con is simply lacking the hitting-power of HE-filled cannon rounds, the six HMGs have enough pros to make up for this shortcoming. First off, with some trigger discipline, a good marksman can down 4, or even 5 enemy aircraft, due to your relatively plentiful ammunition. Secondly, the high velocity of the rounds serve well with the increasing speeds of early jets; Some cannon rounds can be difficult to hit fast-moving targets with due to their lower velocity. Lastly, all six guns are nose-mounted, packing the shot-grouping into a relatively small area. This means that a burst-mass of 7.34lbs or 3.3kg ''per second'' cam impact said relatively small area. &lt;br /&gt;

Though the aircraft design was promising, it soon became evident that the aircraft's rushed development had led to a variety of design flaws. The aircraft was hypersensitive in pitch, had engine and flap issues, and even baked the pilot as the cockpit temperature rose to a sweltering 180 degrees Fahrenheit (82 degrees Celsius) during flight&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;:1&amp;quot; /&amp;gt;. However, following a large funding boost, the major issues (including the cooked pilot) were solved. By late 1944, the P-80 program was a similar priority level as the B-29, and 1000 aircraft had already been ordered. In Simulator, the Ki-84 is overall a decent plane to fly. It enjoys lovely visibility towards the rear, sides, above, and over the nose, giving the pilot great situational awareness. It has nice handling, good climb rate, great speed and acceleration. Armament-wise, the guns have enough fire rate to put quite a few projectiles into the target in one pass. However the Ki-84’s disadvantages are the limited damage, rudder efficiency at high speeds, the rather poor roll rate, and the compass at the front-right of the gunsight that can obstruct your view. This aircraft can be used in BnZ fighting, turn fighting, intercepting (to some extent) and some ground pounding.&lt;br /&gt;

Before taking off, bring at least 30 minutes of fuel for longer patrol time. Set the convergence to around 250 m since your weapons have low velocity, therefore needing more precise aim at longer range. While your Ki-84 roars down the runway, you will notice that it shifts severely to the left, thus you must put rudder input to the right to taxi straight. As with other Ki series aircraft, only elevator trim is available, so when the stick is at its deadzone, the Ki-84 will roll and yaw to the left side. Therefore you always need to pull the stick a little to the right which can get a bit annoying. Usually, trim for around -1% when cruising around 470 km/h, around -5% when diving around 600 km/h, and when fighting at around 400 km/h no negative trim is needed. When carrying the 2x 250kg bombload, no negative trim is needed as well. Landing characteristics are forgiving: cut throttle to make sure you are not above 350 km/h before touchdown. Deploy combat then takeoff flaps to further decelerate in preparation for extending landing gears. Extend at around 260 km/h, control your descend rate throughout. You must pretend that your rudder doesn't exist and fully rely on the ailerons and elevators to lead. A successful pass will not usually cripple the enemy given the projectiles’ lacklustre damage, so multiple attacks are needed to destroy one plane. Aside from BnZ, the Ki-84 is also excellent at turn fighting - with the appropriate opponent, of course. Except a few dedicated turn fighters, the Ki-84 can out-turn and get on most opponents' tail with combat/takeoff flaps deployed, and can sustain its turning ability throughout the fight. The Ki-84's stable handling allows you to pull some tight manoeuvres, so don't worry too much about flat spins. If you become a prey, try some defensive manoeuvres like barrel rolls or disengage by diving steeply towards a nearby friendly airfield.
