The name is a gift rank rank German light tank Battle-rating. It was introduced during Update "Dance of Dragons" as a reward for the 2024 "Mobile Sniper" event.
The Boxer chassis is a lightly armoured hull and, as such, is susceptible to all vehicles' main weapons at its BR, but is also vulnerable to many secondary armaments. Its large size means that rounds penetrating it at its far ends may fail to reach its limited crew count. As a light tank, it is weak to both chemical and solid-based rounds. The lack of armour means that this tank should be kept away from open plains; instead, it can be used to flank or snipe from long ranges. Due to its powerful engine and light weight, the Boxer can accelerate to speeds up to and exceeding 100 km/h, making it an excellent vehicle to reach early-game positions and catch enemies off guard. Its reverse speed allows it to take a shot and move into cover before most vehicles can return fire, making it a good vehicle for peeking and relocating.
<!-- Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and manoeuvrability, as well as the maximum speed forwards and backwards. -->
As it is classified as a light tank in-game, it can be expected to boast high speed. In this respect, the Boxer MGS excels, reaching a speed in excess of 100 km/h. As a wheeled vehicle, it performs better on roads than on grassy or rocky terrains, but thanks to its good suspension, it is still able to comfortably reach over 70 km/h off-road when travelling in a straight line. Due to its trackless design, it lacks the ability to turn on the spot, which should be noted when deploying this vehicle into tight positions. While its brakes are sufficient to slow this vehicle down over a distance, they lack the capability to stop it quickly from top speed, forcing the player to slow preemptively or risk being caught out of cover.
MG3A1 (7.62 mm)

The Boxer MGS features a single, internally mounted 7.62 mm anti-infantry gun situated in the turret. The MG3A1 is a standard light machine gun and will have no effect on any armour. It should primarily be used to clear a line of sight or to spot enemy tanks for teammates. While it maintains the trend of high fire-rate machine guns in the German tree, it should not be used against airborne targets, as to get a shot, the whole turret must be moved to face the target.
Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB). -->

Hull-down sniping

The Boxer MGS is a very capable sniper. It can utilise its Gen 3 thermals, laser rangefinder, and high-velocity APFSDS to pick off adversaries from long distances. Thanks to its excellent gun depression, it can use hills as cover, exposing only the turret, making it harder to see and kill. If the Boxer is played this way, the player must be aware of enemies who may possess a laser warning receiver, which could reveal your position to them.

Flanking

If using this vehicle in a flanking role, be sure to utilise long, straight roads to allow the Boxer to reach its high top speed. This will enable the player to reach the sides and rear of the enemy, where its high-pressure 105 mm cannon can easily penetrate other vehicles. When playing in this way, the player needs to be wary of enemies who may be looking for the flank or who may hear your vehicle from a distance. The aim should be to find a position side-on to the enemy with cover you can use your reverse speed to retreat into, take a shot, and move out of line of sight.

Pros and cons
In the early years of the Cold War, the Swedish Army envisioned a new set of armoured fighting vehicles capable of supporting the infantry. Serving as a replacement to the towed artillery pieces, the vehicle had to be produced in large numbers, yet mobile enough to manoeuvre with the infantry and fulfill their support needs. The result was a very small self-propelled gun designated the "Infanterikanonvagn" ("Ikv", or the Infantry Cannon Carrier). The first version adopted was the Ikv 72, armed with a 75 mm gun. 36 units would be produced and would see service until the late 1950s, when it started to be replaced by the Ikv 102.

Introduced in Update 1.97 "Viking Fury", the Ikv 72 is an excellent as a light tank destroyer, the good mobility allows usage in "hit and run" tactics, flanking the main force of the enemy team that will usually be made of tanks slower than the Ikv 72. The low velocity of the projectiles (580 m/s) and mid-penetration capabilities makes it harder to use as a sniper like most tank destroyers. Users should be aware of artillery fire, aircraft and autocannons/HMGs, as these can destroy the Ikv 72 with ease due to lack of armour and no roof in the vehicle to protect the crew.

With a maximum frontal armour thickness of 18.5 mm, the Ikv 72 has nearly no armour to speak of. The side armour is almost negligible, and can be penetrated by even rifle-calibre machine guns at point blank ranges. Aircraft are particularly deadly, as the vehicle has an open-topped crew compartment, and what little roof armour there is is only 5 mm thick at most.

The crew compartment is very cramped, and any hit by a large shell is liable to disable multiple crew members, if not all of them, simultaneously.

The Ikv 72 trades armour for mobility, boasting an excellent power/weight ratio and a high top speed of around 60 km/h. This allows it to easily get to good positions where it can put its powerful gun to best use. A high reverse speed also allows it to easily back off, and is particularly valuable when fighting in hull-down positions, where it can use its excellent gun depression to its advantage.
kan m/41 (75 mm)

The Ikv 72 is armed with the 7,5 cm kan m/41, a rather conventional quick-firing 75 mm field gun. It starts off with the unremarkable slpprj m/40 uncapped AP shot, which is adequate against most opposition it may encounter but tends to suffer ricochets against sloped armour. However, once upgraded, the gun may fire the slpgr m/39 uncapped APHE shell and the slpprj m/40B APBC shot. The former round has a very lethal 260 g TNT filler but tends to ricochet more and has less penetration, while the latter has better penetration and ricochets less, and is thus more useful in uptiers. It is recommended to carry a mixture of both APHE and APBC unless the Ikv 72 is top tier, in which case the APHE alone is sufficient.

The gun also has an outstanding ±20° of gun elevation, allowing the Ikv 72 to take advantage of hull down positions that most other tanks cannot.
Usage in battles
<!-- Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. The Ikv 72 is a relatively light armoured tank destroyer which had a purpose of supporting the infantry during attack charges and taking out enemy positions and light targets. Ikv 72 has relatively high speed and mobility making it able to quickly get to points and positions like a light tank and ambush enemies with, it has great penetration capability with its stock round and will unlock another great round, the slpprj m/40B, as a tier 4 modification. Armed with a 75 mm Kan m/41, the Ikv 72 has great firepower for a low tier tank destroyer with also a decent amount of 42 rounds it can bring into battle compared to the SU-5-1 which can only bring 8 rounds.

The Ikv 72 excels at fighting from hull down positions, using its outstanding 20 degrees of gun depression, low silhouette, and high reverse speed to limit exposure when taking shots. The high reverse speed also helps in city fighting when it has to quickly retreat after taking a shot. It is fast enough to keep up with even light tanks and can use this to take up unexpected positions from which to strike at the enemy making it an excellent ambush tank, both in hilly terrain and city fighting.

The negative things with Ikv 72 is the compact crew compartment makes it easy for shells to easily knock it out, and being open top exposing it to machine gun fire from enemy aircraft and tanks. Also the weak armour makes it easy for any tanks and heavy machine gun to penetrate with ease, hence it's advised to go for ambush tactics, where the Ikv 72 can get the first shot on the enemy. One other negative thing with the Ikv 72 is the low velocity on the shells, making it harder for it to take up a "sniper" position to be efficient which makes the Ikv 72 more adapt at close to medium range combat, so try to find a good postion that is not too far away for intended target.

Things to be aware of in the Ikv 72 are mostly tanks or trucks with heavy machine guns or autocannons like Pz.II C, GAZ-MM (72-K), T17E2 and Ta-Se, which will tear the Ikv 72 apart with ease in direct confrontation with it. Hence trying to keep as low attention as possible on the Ikv 72 will be to its advantage where it can without being fired at take shots on enemy tanks from its position.

Pros and cons
<!-- Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics.
Pros:

* Outstanding gun depression (-20°)
* Relatively fast rate-of-fire
* Excellent forward and reverse speeds
* Highly effective APHE shell with a large explosive filler
* Small target size, especially at long range
* Ammo is stored very safely, will get only ammoracked by artillery or by direct hits
* Engine noise is difficult to discern allowing for greater stealth

Cons:

* Extremely vulnerable to air attacks and artillery strikes
* Nearly no armour to speak of
* Must choose between high penetration APBC or high damage APHE
* Cramped crew compartment
* Commander and Loader are exposed with their heads being above the armour plate
* Low shell velocities inhibit use as a sniper

The Infanterikanonvagn 72 was a project started in 1949 by Sweden for an assault gun. The intended role of this vehicle was to support the infantry in the attack, replacing towed artillery guns. The design was to be small, and of light weight, around 6 tons. This was to reduce costs so a larger amount could be produced. The first prototype from Landsverk, completed in 1950, was armed only with three machine guns. This was insufficient, and it was re-armed with a 75 mm cannon, the same gun from the Strv m/42. It was a small, lightly armoured vehicle, with a casemate superstructure housing the 75 mm gun. It had a crew of 4, and it was open topped. The Ikv 72 was later upgraded to the Ikv 102 and Ikv 103 standards, receiving an armoured roof for the crew compartment, a 105 mm gun, and other improvements. The design weighed about 8 tons.
If necessary use a visual template to indicate the most secure and weak zones of the armour. -->

The Leopard 1A5NO prioritizes firepower and mobility over the survivability of the tank. The armour in the frontal arc is reliable against many of the autocannons found on IFVs at its BR, but occasional rounds can penetrate the turret ring. Side armour can be reliably penetrated by autocannon fire, thus it is vital to keep the front of the armour towards the enemy. Chemical and kinetic rounds from main battle tanks and other vehicles should have no problem to penetrate Leopards armour when they hit centre mass. Looking at the Leopard from the front, 3 out of 4 crew members sit in almost straight line on the left side of the tank, thus potentially allowing it to get knocked out by a well-placed shot. On top of that, Leopard's biggest ammo rack is located on the right side of the hull, protected only by a 70 mm thin frontal plate angled at 57°. Thus Leopard's hull presents a highly rewarding target and players must avoid getting shot in the hull at all costs. On the other hand, Leopard's height is just slightly taller than T-72 by a few centimetres, and the gun can be depressed to -9°, allowing Leopard 1A5 to fight well on uneven terrain.
Ammunition
* DM12 HEATFS - Stock round. The HEAT round does not lose penetration over distance. Unlike kinetic penetrators, it has one downside: given that it is a chemical round, its fuse is highly sensitive. With the emergence of composite and reactive armour, it quickly becomes obsolete in the anti-tank role. Requires careful aiming to properly damage newer tanks, though it can hold its own while fighting older tanks, lighter vehicles and low-flying helicopters.
* DM512 HESH - This round was always plagued by a plethora of problems: low velocity, low penetration, inconsistent mechanics and sensitive fuse make this round gimmicky at best. That being said, with the overpressure mechanic, this round can be used in CQB against light vehicles with devastating effect.
* DM23 APFSDS - Available as a tier I modification, this round allows player to engage modern tanks more reliably, since it performs better against composite and reactive armour. Penetration is relatively below average when compared to rounds available to the Leopard 1A5's contemporaries, it should be used as a stop gap solution until the next round becomes available.
* DM33 APFSDS - Best round available to the Leopard 1A5 and third best NATO round available for 105 mm cannons. It allows player to engage most enemies at the Leopard 1A5's BR at any range reliably. With careful aiming, even higher BR vehicles are not safe. Player should be of note that this round can easily over penetrate light vehicles such as BMP-2 or SPAAGs, so aiming at vital components is preferred in order to create shrapnel necessary to destroy them.

Tactics:

With addition of laser range finder, more powerful round and thermal gunner optics, the Leopard 1A5NO can become a very potent sniper on open maps. Players should exploit the Leopard's mobility, low profile and handy gun depression to reach favourable hull down positions and start picking off targets. Entrenched sniping the Leopard 1A5 becomes a nightmare for enemy tanks trying to cross its sight line, as this playstyle allows players to negate their biggest weakness: the lack of armour. The Leopards can flank well, but as thermal sights and laser range finders are becoming more common at the Leopard's BR, one must adapt certain flanking tactics:

* First, players shouldn't move across an open field without cover unless they know for certain that there is no one watching or unless absolutely necessary.
* Second, players should utilize terrain as much as they can - after all, a thermal imager is just a filter for a camera, and can't highlight the thermal signature of something that can't be seen in the first place. Move below the horizon, try to put as much heavy foliage as you can between you and the suspected position of enemy tanks.
* Third, do not be afraid to stop when approaching suspected enemy positions, turn off your engine and listen. This allows you to detect enemy flankers in close proximity before they enter your field of vision, thus allowing you to avoid getting ambushed.

Sadly, while the Leopard 1A5NO performs great at longer ranges, its performance is below average on CQC maps with corridors and streets that do not allow to exploit the Leopard's mobility, like those found on Advance to Rhine. Due to lack of armour, IFVs with high rate of fire autocannons and more armoured tanks in general outperform Leopards by wide margin in these environments. A lone Leopard is expected to lose in most scenarios, thus players should focus on supporting their allies. Let them take a shot, and as soon as you see the enemy tank return fire, lunge forward and send the enemy back to the garage.
The Norwegen army recieved 78 Leopard 1NOs in January and July 1971, these were modified to better suite the Norwegen environment with additions such as a box on glacis plate which carried a larger number of snow grousers than what the original glacis rack. The Leopard 1A5NO (mistakenly refered to as 1A5NO2 in game) was created through a modernisation program which ended in 1994, through this program; the EMES 18 was installed with a stabilisation system and the hydraulic turret drive was replaced by an all electric system. Additionally Norway aquired 33 1A5s from Germany. The Leopard 1A5NO fired their last shots in September 2011 before being withdrawn from service.

Comparison with analogues
<!--Give a comparative description of cannons/machine guns that have firepower equal to this weapon.-->

The M129, another AGL, is vastly superior to the AG-30 in every way, namely with better armour penetration, muzzle velocity, and a lighter shell. The only advantage the AG-30 has over the M129 is the explosive mass, but that's worth nothing because the explosive mass can't be utilized effectively.

Usage in battles
<!--Describe the cannon/machine gun in the game - its distinctive features, tactics of usage against notable opponents. Please don't write a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but give the reader food for thought.-->

Despite having no infantry to fight, the AG-30 can be used to cripple critical enemy modules. Breaking their gun barrel and tracks will provide the time to either escape or time to aim for weak spots. The shells have less than 5 mm of penetration, so it is unlikely to destroy anything. The only things that the AG-30 might shred through are ATGM carriers and thinly armoured SPAAs, but then HMGs and high-calibre HE shells do a better job at destroying them. It might defeat helicopters though, because the 30 mm grenades don't have tracers at all so the helicopters won't notice them coming until it hits them.

Overall, the AG-30 is essentially a tool to buy time, and can't really do anything much more than disarming and demobilizing light tanks and MBTs. The AG-30 can be used to break through an enemy's ERA, which would help the player and teammates defeat the enemy more easily. However, the AG-30 shouldn't be the first weapon of choice in an engagement, as the BMP-2M has very useful ATGMs with tandem charges that can be fired in rapid succession. Again, don't think about actually destroying anything with the AG-30. Roofs and belly armour of even the earliest light tanks exceed 10 mm of RHA, which means penetration is nigh-impossible.

Pros and cons
<!--Summarise and briefly evaluate the weaponry in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark pros and cons as a list.-->

Pros:

* Decent rate of fire (400 RPM) in terms of an automatic grenade launcher
* May damage and cripple modules that are important to the enemy, such as their gun barrel and tracks
* Can remove enemy armour plates, especially ERA plates, so that the primary armament has a better chance of penetrating
* If enemy compartment is open-back or open-top, the crew of the enemy will be eliminated within a single good burst
* Large belt capacity allows sustained fire for longer durations (300 grenades for the BMP-2M)
* Launcher has decent elevation angles

Cons:

* Grenades will almost never penetrate armour directly and hurt the crew inside
* Grenade's low muzzle velocity results in quite a delay from firing to grenade impact
** Time of travel can be ~1 second at 250 m, and ~3 seconds at 500 m, and expect even more time needed for targets beyond 500 m
** The very low muzzle velocity will make it a challenge to hit any moving targets beyond 200 m
** The explosion of the grenade can obscure vision if using thermal gunner sights

History
The AGS-17 adopted in 1971 was improved upon with the introduction of the AGS-30 grenade launcher. The new launcher, which had development started in the early 1990s by the KBP Instrument Design Bureau, was introduced in 1999 as a lighter, more accurate, and farther-hitting grenade launcher compared to the AGS-17,

The AGS-30 (Avtomatischeskyi Granatmyot Stankovyi Automatic Grenade Launcher - Mounted) was adopted for Russian Army service in 2002, firing the same 30x28B mm grenades as the AGS-17 in belts of 29 grenades. Due to its lightweight construction of 16 kg with tripod included (compared to the AG-17's weight of 18 kg alone, with the tripod weighing 12 kg), the weapon could be easily used and moved by a crew of two soldiers in the infantry support role. The AGS-30 can also be found as vehicle mounts as the AG-30M on AFV and helicopters with a remote-controlled turret.

The BT-5 (Быстроходный танк-5) is the fifth variant of the BT light tank family. It is designed as a convertible tank, a feature invented by J. Walter Christie to reduce wear on the 1930s' unreliable tank tracks. The main advantage of this design is that the tank crew can quickly remove the tracks and connect a chain drive to the rearmost road wheel on each side, allowing the tank to travel at extremely high speeds on roads. The BT-5 variant, which featured a larger cylindrical turret housing a 45 mm 20-K tank gun and a coaxial 7.62 DT light machine gun, proved useful in the early stages of World War II. However, Soviet designers quickly discovered that the convertible option was of little practical use in a country with few paved roads; it took up space and added unnecessary complexity and weight. Later variants did not include the feature.

Introduced in Update 1.45 "Steel Generals", the BT-5 is versatile in terms of playstyle due to its great mobility and reasonable firepower. Given its impressive top speed, this tank is best used to capture objectives early in the game. It is recommended to travel on the road to fully utilize its speed and arrive at the objectives before the enemies. Another good strategy is to move to the border of the battlefield and engage enemies from the side. Its speed allows it to reach unexpected areas early in a battle, surprising the enemies. However, players must be careful not to expose themselves during battles as the tank is lightly armoured, thus any penetrating shots will almost certainly result in destruction.
Is the level of armour protection sufficient, is the placement of modules helpful for survival in combat? If necessary use a visual template to indicate the most secure and weak zones of the armour. -->
The BT-5 has a poor survivability: its armour is almost non-existent on all sides, making it vulnerable to autocannons (Pz.II, Flakpanzer I, etc.) and heavy machine guns like .50 cal HMGs found on American vehicles.
Moreover, the crew is tightly packed, making it easy to knock out the BT-5 with a single shot by taking out all three crewmen at once.

The BT-5 has a decent cannon for a light tank. Stock round has a maximum penetration of 70 mm. Combined with the 29 g TNT, it is almost certain that the BT-5 will frontally knock out every tank it will see. Even at more than 500 m away from the target, it still has 40-50 mm of penetration which is still enough to go through a lot of tanks' frontal armour. The 3-4 second reload allows the player to quickly fire more shells if the first shot didn't kill. The tank has 8 degrees of gun depression which is enough for most terrain.
Usage in battles
Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB). -->
The BT-5 is really flexible when it comes to usage, as it has great mobility and firepower, which is pretty much all you need for a good tank. Given its great 53 km/h top speed, it is good to use the BT-5 as a point-capturing tank at the start of the match. It is better to travel on-road to fully utilise its speed to get to the point before the enemies do. Another good tactic is to manoeuvre to the flank of the frontline/point and attack from the side. Its speed makes it possible to go the furthest in the shortest time, surprising the enemies.

Once captured, the player can either quickly set an ambush behind nearby cover waiting for the enemy to recapture it, or just drive around the battlefield and help teammates. Its 70 mm penetration and 29 g TNT APHEBC shell will one-shot pretty much anything around its BR. If not, the 3 second reload allows it to finish them off easily. A sudden, close encounter is a hard test to the player's skills because the BT-5 isn't very good at turning as its tracks are quite long and narrow. Its turret traverse of around 11 deg/sec is certainly not the best. Thus those two factors can sometimes cause the death of the BT-5 so the player must respond fast and accurate.

The BT-5 along with other BT series tanks are frequently used in high ranks to score 'God Mode" awards due to the thin armour that high tier tanks possess, which the BT-5's 70mm of pen is more than capable of dealing with.

Enemies worth noting:

* Pz.IIs - Although not as fast as the BT-5, the Pz.IIs still have an average speed of around 40 km/h. Also, they are equipped with a deadly 20 mm autocannon that will punch holes on the BT-5 with ease, and their rate of fire can quickly kill multiple crew. The BT-5 has thin armour protecting only 3 crew, making it extremely vulnerable to those autocannons.

* Sd.Kfz.234 series - These wheeled vehicles all have scary on-road speeds of more than 60 km/h, so in any map, with roads connecting to the points they can always get there first and set up an ambush. However, these vehicles are wheeled meaning they cannot turn in place, they are rather sluggish when trying to turn, and they have either slow turret traverse or no turret at all, so the player can use this to their advantage. Wiggle/circle around them to avoid their guns and force them to turn, then aim carefully and immobilise them. Note that the DT machine gun on the BT-5 only has 10 mm penetration at most, making it almost impossible to go through their armour and kill any crew, so don't think of destroying these wheeled vehicles with the MG.

* M8 Greyhound, M3 Stuarts - These vehicles are equally fast, and the M8 can outrun the BT-5 if it's travelling on road, allowing them to get to the point before the BT-5 does. Therefore, if America is on the other side the player might want to change their tactics and not rush the point since low tier battles are always filled with fast tanks. The M8 has a roof-mounted .50 cal MG which easily tears the BT-5's armour apart and kills the crew inside. Also, most of them have a vertical stabiliser that works at low speed, so avoid firing on the move with them.

* B1 bis - A heavily armoured tank for its BR, but do not panic when you see it. Don't fire at a distance unless you are directly aiming at its side armour. The best option is to try and get as close to it as possible (point-blank range is ideal) and shoot straight at its side. However sometimes due to a variety of reasons the player might be unable to flank it and has to face it frontally. If that is the case, shoot the rather vertical driver's compartment and there's a great chance of penetration, killing the driver and the commander (which is also the gunner for the turret). Or, shoot between the two guns on the turret to kill the commander/gunner. Or, shoot at the near-vertical part of the curved gun mantlet of the big hull-mounted gun.

Pros and cons
<!-- Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective". -->

Pros:

* Deadly firepower at its BR: high penetration of up to 70 mm, and shells have explosive filler which can frontally knock out most tanks like Pz.IIs, Chi-Has or M3 Stuarts with a single shot
* Fast tank, great acceleration and overall mobility
* 3-4 second reload time is quick enough to destroy opponents it could not take out with a single shot, like Pz.IV C and LVT(A) series
* Adequate gun depression of 8 degrees allows it to adapt to hilly terrain well
* Small and low profile allows it to easily hide behind cover or bushes

Cons:

* Poor survivability
* Turret and hull traverse is rather slow, meaning it may not be able to keep track of fast targets- this is also a disadvantage in a close-quarters duel, as other light tanks like M3 Stuart can turn way faster

Development
The BT, or Bystrokhodny tank ("Fast tank"), was a strange combination of national engineering. Its origin lies with the American automotive designer Walter Christie, who developed a suspension system that can be converted between tracked and wheeled travel. His first attempt was the M1919 tank submitted to the US army in February 1921, but was withdrawn for improvements in Spring 1921. It was rebuilt as the M1921 and tested until May 1923. While his design had garnered interest, the deficiency of the cramped crew compartment and unreliable had the design rejected in July 1924. Christie improved the suspension again and patented the design in April 1928. The new suspension used large road wheels with a smaller idler and drive sprocket, with a chain to drive the vehicle track-less when needed. The suspension wheels were supported by large springs in the hull to provide a relatively smooth ride compared to the usual suspension design of the day. This design, today is known as the Christie Suspension, was put onto the M1928 tank and presented on October 1928, with a public demonstration by driving the tank from Maryland to Pennsylvania on an average 28 mph speed. The attention grabbed overseas interest, one was the Polish Army, but another country interested in the design was the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union, using its ties with Amtorg Corporation in New York, offered to buy the M1928 design and its license production rights. The deal was done on 30 April 1930 with two M1928 tanks for $60,000 and the production rights for $100,000.

The tanks that arrived at the Soviet Union were designated the M1940 convertible tank. Polish interest in the vehicle vanished upon learning of the transaction with the Soviet Union. However, while the Soviet Union was aware of Polish interest in the vehicle, they did not hear of the cancellation and made estimations that Poland could have up to 100 Christie tanks with 300 Vickers tanks by 1931, prompting a hasty production schedule of their own tank designs. Though with flaws, the M1940 was accepted for production on 23 May 1931 as the BT-2. Manufacturing difficulties led to a delay in the production tables of the BT-2. Another issue was the choice of armament, with the Red Army jumping from the 37 mm PS-2 gun derived from the French Hotchkiss gun, the 37 mm Pak36 developed by Germany, then the 45 mm. The changes in armament, each larger than the other, created fitting issues with the BT-2 turret design. Despite 620 units produced by 1944, the BT-2 was deemed near useless except for practice. An improvement was needed for the service of the Red Army.

The BT-2 design was improved at the KB-T2K tank bureau, with BT-3 being a measurement conversion from imperial to metric, and the BT-4 changing the rivet construction with welds. In 1932, the plan was to upgrade the BT-2 and equip it with 45 mm. The next iteration, the BT-5, was completed on 21 October 1932 without a turret, though with the complete model made on 01 January 1933. The most notable change between the BT-2 design and the BT-5 was the enlarged turret for the 45 mm gun with a coaxial machine gun. Most BT-5 were equipped with the M-5 Liberty gasoline engine, but some were equipped with a BD-2 diesel engine designated the BT-5diz.

A total of 1,946 BT-5 were produced during its production life between 1933 and 1934. Aside from the tank model, many different variants were produced on the BT-5 design. Such as the BT-5PKh designed for deep-wading, the RBT-5 that equipped two 250 kg 305 mm Tverskiy "Tank Torpedoes" on the turret, a BT-5 with two Katyusha launch rails, the KhBT-5 with a KS-34 flamethrower, and the SBT-5 bridge-layer engineer vehicle. All were built with varying levels of success and practicality, only the SBT-5 were made in noticeable numbers, of which was five units.

Combat usage
The BT-5 was first used to equip the 5th Kalinovskiy Mechanized Corps. 325 BT-5 were equipped with the 71-TK Shakal radio transceiver, designated the BT-5RT. Tanks without radio had to communicate via signal flags, hand signals, or by flare.

The BT tank's first combat usage was during the Spanish Civil War in 1937 in foreign hands, with 50 BT-5 sold to the Spanish Republic, delivered on 10 August 1937. The Spanish troops using them regarded the BTs as the best tanks in Spain. Soviet advisors from the 5th Kalinovskiy Mech. Corps were also supplemented among the Spanish troops during the war. However, the lack of tactics in the Spanish Republicans led to heavy losses among the BT units. Some BTs were even captured by the Spanish Nationalists and used against their owners.

The Soviet's first usage with the BT tanks was in the border conflicts with Japan at Khalkin Gol. At this point, the BT-7 was starting to succeed the BT-5 in Red Army service, but the BT-5 still served in the 11th Tank Brigade in three battalions. Though the BT were successful in stopping Japanese advances and driving them back, the BT tanks suffered casualties under the 37 mm anti-tank guns and 70 mm field guns in Japanese service. While experience with the BTs was still satisfactory, the fighting revealed flaws in the design. The BT armour was becoming too thin to resist standard anti-tank weaponry, radio sets were too easily damaged, rubber on the wheels would melt off in prolonged march in hot weather, and the tank's petrol were catching fire due to combat damages, leading to a change in Soviet power design from petrol engines to diesel.

The BT-5 also saw use during the Soviet's invasion of Poland in 1939, with only 147 BT-2 and BT-5 in four tank regiments but these did not see much combat. A number were also used in the Winter War against Finland in 1940. In April 1941, months before the German's Operation Barbarossa, the Soviets still had 1,658 BT-5 of all variants in inventory, but wear and tear had begun taking their toll on their reliability. Mechanical problems became rampant and when the Germans invaded Russia on 22 June 1941, many BT tanks were lost from breakdowns. Those that were able to encounter the German Panzer divisions were clearly outmatched by the Panzer III and Panzer IV. They were only a match against light tanks like the Panzer 38(t), but the German's more experienced tank formations were able to win even when outnumbered.

The drastically reduced BT tank numbers meant they were almost a rarity past 1941. In the Summer 1942 fronts, there were only 65 BT tanks fighting the Germans. By June 1945, only 299 BT tanks were still available in all parts of the European theatre. The BT's last major campaign was in Manchuria during the Soviet's offensive against Japan. Though majorly BT-7s, 190 BT-5s were present by September 1945. In 1946, all BT tanks were retired from Soviet service.

Legacy
Perhaps the most important impact of the BT light tanks series was that it was the predecessor of the T-34 medium tank, which would go on as the most-produced tank of World War II. During work on improving the BT design that would become the BT-7, a separate design project at Kharkov headed by a designer named Mikhail Koshkin in October 1937 focused on a BT-20, which had a wider hull and a BD-2 diesel engine. Inside the design bureau, however, the design was renamed the A-20, which was further improved into the A-32 which had improved armour and a bigger 76.2 mm gun. Finally, in December 1939, Stalin approved the A-32 design, which was accepted under the name T-34
The BT-5 light tank was built as a result of a project to upgrade the BT-2. The first vehicles were released in March, 1933. The new tank's main distinction was that it had a new turret with enhanced weaponry installed on it. A pair of 45 mm 20K cannon and a 7.62 mm DT machine gun were installed on the turret. Other less significant changes were also made that enhanced the tank's build quality. 230 BT-5 tanks with enhanced turrets were produced.
The name was originally based on the Italian license-manufactured variant of the Bell 204B (UH-1). Originally acquired in 1962 for helicopter rescue services, the platform saw extensive use in both the Swedish Air Force and Army. Serving for nearly 40 years, the HKP3 went through two modernization programs relating to its powerplant. Originally being delivered as the HKP3A, the type was quickly deemed underpowered prompting the decision to give it a more capable engine, redesignating it as the HKP3B. While this solved the problem of handling, the Army saw more potential in increasing the lift further by lengthening the tail and extending the rotor, thus creating the PAGENAME we see represented in game. While the platform was not originally designed for anti-tank missions, the Army did extensive trials to incorporate the BANTAM missile to the HKP3. Although these tests were deemed successful, the military opted to not procure any missile armament for the type.

Introduced in Update "Wind of Change", the PAGENAME is the introductory helicopter for Sweden. As it is one of the earliest examples of ATGM-carrying helicopters, it faces much less advanced threats while still being able to engage from a safe distance. While these missiles pack a significant punch compared to unguided rockets, the tradeoff comes at velocity as they take an extreme amount of time to reach the target, requiring patience and strategy to utilize correctly.
<!-- Describe how the helicopter behaves in the air. Speed, manoeuvrability, acceleration and allowable loads - these are the most important characteristics of the vehicle. -->
As the PAGENAME is a utility helicopter by nature, the flight performance is mostly a result from the carrying capacity the platform was made for. As the Huey family was primarily designed for troop transportation the resulting agility is favourable compared to usually larger or weaker utility helicopters. The PAGENAME sports a fantastic climb rate that holds up even against more modern examples. Keeping the nose pointed at targets is easily done thanks to the well responding control surface, albeit with slight limitations. Since the helicopter was mostly designed to quickly move between locations, it struggles to perform more advanced combat manoeuvres, especially when trying to roll the aircraft.
As the PAGENAME gets its full weaponry stock, all research can be dedicated to flight performance and survivability. It is recommended to focus on engine upgrades for greater climb rate. Quickly researching Flak jacket is also preferable as it greatly increases pilot survivability, which comes in handy when in close combat against machine guns.

The PAGENAME can be outfitted with the following ordnance:

* 6 x RB 53 Bantam missiles

Usage in battles
<!-- Describe the tactics of playing in a helicopter, the features of using the helicopter in a team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but instead, give the reader food for thought. Examine the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB). -->
Since the PAGENAME is one of the first examples of anti-tank helicopters available for research, the characteristics and gameplay usually revolves around its limitations. While the improved Huey platform offers great power, mobility and carrying capacity, the nature of it being primarily for utility limits both how agile and survivable the helicopter is. This means the PAGENAME can easily get into position, but often struggles to defensively act when confronted by enemy vehicles.

Counteracting these downsides can be done in two different approaches, depending on situation and terrain. The first being a more distanced gameplay, focusing on utilizing the 2 km range the BANTAM missiles offer. While these travel at painstakingly slow speeds, the damage and pinpoint accuracy they provide more than offsets the problem. Since the PAGENAME is situated at a low battle rating, there is rarely any SPAA that can have a clear shot when using terrain to its advantage. The only counterbalance of this playstyle is how much it relies on enemy positioning. While other missiles usually reach the target before it relocates, the BANTAM requires a firing window that's usually far over 20 seconds in travel time, giving opponents ample time to avoid the missile by driving into cover either on purpose or by accident. Since the missiles require visual with the target to guide, trying to accurately guide them onto an opponent from a distance leaves the PAGENAME vulnerable for an equal amount of time, making SPAA countering, one of the strengths of helicopters, near impossible to perform.

The second playstyle is centered around trying to maximize the efficiency of the BANTAM missiles by closing the traveling distance, lowering the amount of time spent on each target. The best way to perform this playstyle is by staying low to the ground while approaching the battlefield, then using the horizontal momentum to gain altitude over the target area. By pivoting the helicopter to fire straight downwards, players can essentially use the low speed of the BANTAM to accurately guide them onto the rooftops of unsuspecting tankers below. This requires a lot of practice and getting familiar with helicopter controls, but can allow for multiple threats to be dealt with in a short timeframe. While this can on paper be the most effective way to play the PAGENAME, put into practice the reckless approach will often leave the craft vulnerable to SPAA and roof-mounted machine guns. Selecting between the two different playstyles should as such be done by evaluating which one seems the most effective given the map and state of the match. Spawning the helicopter early in a smaller map will often favour the second approach, while a later spawn on more open large-scale maps more commonly favour the first approach.

The HKP3C was Sweden's main utility helicopter between the 1960s and early 2000s. It was originally based on the Italian license-manufactured version of Bell 204B, a civilian version of the UH-1 Huey. Even though it was intended to be used in search and rescue missions, it soon found use in other areas.

As a utility helicopter, the Swedish Air Force and other branches of its military used it for recommendations missions, anti submarine patrols, medevac and transportation of troops and supplies. Unlike the American variants of the Huey, the Swedish military never used the HKP3C directly for combat, so it was not armed, however it was used for air cavalry squadrons as a mean of transportation and quick deployment and for transfer of supplies between different forces. In fact, the Swedish military was one of the first to adopt the usage of air cavalry squadrons and helicopter based infantry in their doctrine.

The Swedish military did test the use of BANTAM missiles in the HKP3C, but even though the test was a success, the military decided not to follow through with the idea. Thus, the HKP3C remained as a utility helicopter. During the 1980s, the HKP3C received upgrades in order to extend its life in service. The Air Force started a program to incorporate better avionics, navigation systems and other equipment into the helicopter. The most important upgrade was the introduction of night vision goggles in the early 1990s to improve visibility in night time operations and other low light conditions. The helicopter also received new engines and an increase in the tail length to increase its total lift.

By the 2000s, the HKP3C was already aging, and it was soon replaced by newer helicopters, including the NHIndustries NH90 and the UH-60M Black Hawk.
The Strv m/42 was introduced during the Second World War as Sweden's primary medium tank. Different versions were developed, however, one of the most experimental ones was the Strv m/42 DT (Delat Torn; "split turret"). Unlike most designs of the time, the new variant used a new turret, with a 75 mm gun and an autoloader. The name comes from the fact that the autoloader forced the turret to be split in half. In 1944, a mockup was made, with a prototype constructed in 1945, however after being tested in different trials in 1946 the design was considered unsuccessful and the project was canceled.

It was introduced in Update 1.97 "Viking Fury". The Strv m/42 DT's most important asset is the reload rate, which can be as low as 3 seconds. The best round available is an APCBC shell that features similar penetration and explosive filler values to other rounds at its rank. The armour is almost non-existent, comparable more to a light tank, and the autoloader makes the tank more vulnerable to ammo detonations, since the ammo racks are more exposed. However, the tank has still a decent mobility to the point it can be used to flank, and the gun depression is also good at -10 degrees.

Survivability and armour
Specs-Tank-Armour
<!-- Describe armour protection. Note the most well protected and key weak areas. Appreciate the layout of modules as well as the number and location of crew members. Is the level of armour protection sufficient, is the placement of modules helpful for survival in combat? If necessary use a visual template to indicate the most secure and weak zones of the armour. -->
The hull of the Strv m/42 DT is identical to that of its predecessor, the Strv m/42 EH. While decent for its BR on the earlier tank, the hull armour is no longer good against the bigger guns that the Strv m/42 DT faces.

However, the Strv m/42 DT also sports a new turret to house the more powerful gun. The turret front is 60 mm thick, and the right side and area around the main gun is an angled flat plate. While not very thick, it is capable of ricocheting some rounds if the effective angle is increased using the excellent gun depression of the Strv m/42 DT. The left side housing the machine gun is rounded and is a weakspot when hull-down.

It is important to note that the turret has an open rear that exposes the crew to machine gun fire and shrapnel. It is also a considerably bigger target than the Strv m/42's turret. Most importantly, the gun autoloader is poking out of the turret and can be easily damaged by any aircraft, which is arguably even worse than losing a crew member.

Close artillery misses won't destroy this tank, but any direct hit to the turret's roof will penetrate and decimate the entire crew. HEAT hits on the turret front won't result in overpressure damage.

Unsurprisingly, the mobility of the Strv m/42 DT is very similar to that of the Strv m/42. It can reach a respectable top speed and will usually be able to keep up with most advances, but suffers from a low reverse speed of about 5 km/h that makes it harder to back up from hull-down positions or into cover.
pvkan m/43 (75 mm)

The Strv m/42 DT is armed with the same 7,5 cm pvkan m/43 used by the Pvkv m/43 tank destroyer. However, on the Strv m/42 DT, the gun is fed by a special semi-automatic loader with a four-round clip (similar to the Japanese Chi-Ri medium tank), allowing for a fast five-round burst (including one pre-loaded in the gun barrel) after which the gun must be reloaded manually.

With the autoloader, the reload takes from 3.9 to 3 seconds, which otherwise would take around 8-6 seconds. This allows the tank to swap between kinetic and HE shells on the fly and to sometimes reload before enemy drives out of cover to retaliate.

As is usual for Swedish vehicles, the turret provides for decent gun depression an -10° , though gun elevation is limited to only +12°, which stops the tank from fighting when charging down or along the side of a hill. The gun stabilizes rather quickly as long as the targeting skill of the crew is maxed out and tank isn't driving over rough terrain.

On a capture point, each spent shell is restocked in about 5.5 seconds. This is important to keep in mind, as the semi-auto loader rearms extremely slowly, forcing the tank to not fire for 25 seconds after the last shot for the first shell to be loaded and another 18 for each next one. Restocking the autoloader magazine on a capture point circumvents this and reloads the autoloader faster, which might allow to repel more tanks than normal.

Note that the gun breech is rather large and takes up a lot of room in the turret, thus a turret penetration is likely to also result in a damaged breech.

The Strv m/42 DT starts with the rather underwhelming stock slpprj m/41 uncapped AP shot, which has no explosive filler. However, at Rank IV the excellent slpgr m/43 APCBC shell becomes available. Not only does it ricochet less than the stock AP, has a higher muzzle velocity, and has better penetration, it also has a lethal 110 g TNT filler that is devastating when it penetrates.

The penetration of kinetic shells is not very good for a tank of this BR, but the Strv m/42 DT is quite tall and at close to medium range it can negate enemy angled armour with that alone.

The sgr m/38 is not to be ignored, as there are a lot of open-topped SPG at the rank, which are difficult to take out with kinetic ammunition, but will definitely fail to reload before HE is fired at them, should they survive the first shot.

* The first-stage ammo racks provide the vehicle with a faster reload but has a small capacity (4 rounds), however the vehicle is also capable of reloading the main gun directly from the other ammo racks.
* The turret can never be fully empty without depleting the first-stage racks, and the hull can only be empty if you take 5 or less shells

The PAGENAME has a standard 8 mm coaxial machine gun. While it is slightly bigger in calibre than 7.62 or 7.7 mm MGs met on comparable vehicles, the machine gun lacks penetration power to damage most opponents. Nevertheless the ksp m/36 machine gun can be used against open-topped vehicles. Furthermore, it also has an additional 13 degrees of elevation which can prove useful in engaging enemy planes.
Usage in battles
<!-- Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB). -->

The Strv m/42 DT's standout feature is an excellent reload rate, which can be as low as 3 seconds. To complement this gun, the Strv m/42 DT is equipped with a stock AP round, and an APCBC shell which has reasonable penetration and explosive filler values compared to similarly-sized rounds at this tier. At its best, the gun will easily blast most medium and light tanks, but will struggle with the heavy tanks, so choose your fights accordingly.

This vehicle is not especially well-armoured. It can often withstand one or two hits, but any more and it will usually be destroyed. Taking high ammunition loads further hampers the tank's survivability, as it makes the chance of an ammunition detonation significant. Additionally, the ammo racks in the front of the hull will almost always have ammo in them, and while they're in a position unlikely to be shot from the front, a shot to the front of the hull from the side can result in an ammo detonation. From the side, a weak armour setup means that autocannons on many anti-air vehicles can penetrate and deal massive damage to internal components. This means, that tank commanders might want to rely on teamwork, much like with the Pvkv II, as either teammates take the hit and leave the enemy exposed to at least two counter shots, or finish the job while the PAGENAME repairs or disables something else. Either way, with armour this thin, it is necessary to pay attention to enemy flankers.

The Strv m/42 DT's hull is taken from the earlier Strv m/42 EH, and thanks to an improved engine, is above-average in terms of mobility. When stock, mobility can be sub-par, but once mobility modules have been researched, the tank becomes quite capable in this department. With this level of mobility, it can acquire ambush positions or act as a viable flanker. (In such situations, the gun's quick reload makes itself very useful; the Strv m/42 DT is able to destroy multiple unsuspecting enemies in quick succession.) One thing to note is that this tank has a poor reverse speed, which can make peeking and firing from behind ridgelines dangerous.

In hull-down positions, this vehicle can use its great gun depression to effectively fire at enemies from behind cover, but it's best to avoid exploiting it to try and fight over high hills, as it's not as great as on the SPGs and tanks before it.

Pros:

* Excellent reload rate allows to fire twice per normal enemy reload
** Ammunition reload on a capture point loads into the ready-rack almost as fast as the firerate, allowing for consistent rapid fire
* Decent gun depression
* Mobile enough to flank when spaded
* Still has a reasonable fire rate when first-stage rack runs out
* Can survive being shot with high explosive rounds, does not count as an open-top

Cons:

* Poor stock uncapped AP shot with no explosive filler, and the APHE starts to become inadequate when fighting head-on in uptier
* Very long ready-rack reload, unless on a capture point
* Narrow tracks reduce off-road mobility
* Poor reverse speed will let most tanks to fire back before it can retreat
* Lightly armoured
* Poor ammo rack configuration
* Large and visible profile
* Gun loader and breech can be easily destroyed by an airstrike

In 1944, the Swedish military considered upgunning the Strv m/42. They designed a new turret with a new 75 mm gun with an autoloader. The turret was named "Delat Torn", which means "split turret" in English. This name comes from the fact that the autoloader would split the turret down the middle into two separate compartments. The gun was set as far back as possible inside the turret in order to reduce how much of the barrel hung out of the turret. In 1944, a mockup was made, with a wooden turret. The prototype was made in 1945, and it was tested throughout 1946. It was found that the design was unsuccessful, and it never entered production or service.
In the second part, tell the reader about the aircraft in the game. Insert a screenshot of the vehicle, so that if the novice player does not remember the vehicle by name, he will immediately understand what kind of vehicle the article is talking about. -->
The J7W1, designated as Shinden (震電), was a prototype fighter plane featuring a distinctive design with wings positioned at the rear of the fuselage, a nose-mounted canard, and a pusher engine. Development was led by Masayoshi Tsuruno, beginning in 1942-43, with the aim of creating a high-speed 400 kn canard-type aircraft. This design aimed to maximize fuselage space by relocating the engine and pilot to the rear of the plane, thus allowing for more armament to be concentrated in the nose. As Japan's wartime situation deteriorated, the focus of the J7W1's development shifted from being a general fighter to a high-altitude interceptor. This change was driven by the increasing threat posed by American high-altitude bombing raids conducted by B-24s and B-29s. Despite its innovative design and potential, the J7W1 saw only limited production and testing. Only two prototypes were completed before Japan's surrender, preventing the aircraft from being deployed in combat.

It was introduced in Update 1.43. The Shinden is a bomber interceptor designed to make quick work of raiding bomber aircraft. It has exceptional performance at altitude, more than exceptional armament and a decent climb rate. Though double the weight of a fully loaded A6M, it is significantly faster to make up for it. This aircraft thrives with boom and zoom, and has a great energy retention at speed due to sleek aerodynamics. Inherently less stable than a normal tail plane thanks to the rear-mounted engine push thrust configuration canard design, the J7W1 is known for rapid pitch angle changes, great roll rate and less drag, by design.
<!-- Describe how the aircraft behaves in the air. Speed, manoeuvrability, acceleration and allowable loads - these are the most important characteristics of the vehicle. -->
The J7W1 Shinden has a maximum speed of 892 km/h (558 mph/485 kt) IAS (this is Vne speed - the absolute maximum speed). In a dive from service ceiling, a speed of mach 0.9 has been recorded and is sustained until IAS speed limit is reached. The aircraft can handle a max load of 11G and compresses rudder, pitch and roll at extremely high IAS speed in order of descending effect.

The Shinden is a quick, pusher prop aircraft that excels in keeping its energy up after diving from a high altitude. It is able to climb up to a nice altitude above its opponents and strafe enemies either with a boom-and-zoom or hit-and-run strategy. The Shinden sports four excellent 30 mm guns mounted in the nose making it infamous for its head-on capabilities as they are easy to get on target but require a bit of aim control as the guns have low muzzle velocity, as long as you keep your speed high you will become a big threat to the enemy team. The Shinden is able to outrun a myriad of aircraft at its BR with some exceptions being the F8F-1B and the Spitfire F Mk XIVe as they have more powerful engines. Enemy bombers such as the B-17G-60-VE are optimal targets as your main weapons are able to quickly rip through the bombers armour, heavy fighters such as the F7F-1 or the Hornet Mk.III are targets you may often see at your altitude and make for great prey as they are large and aren't as agile as single-engine fighters. As a Shinden pilot, it is unwise to let the enemy get onto your six o'clock as you aren't likely to shake them with your poor manoeuvrability and the Shinden's engine is mounted in the rear of the plane, meaning any enemy behind you can quickly take you out of the fight just with a few hits to the engine. Like a majority of the Japanese planes, the Shinden lacks any armour to reliable stop bullets from damaging it, however there is a piece of bulletproof glass in the front of the planes cockpit that is 70 mm thick as well as a 16 mm steel plate in the nose, making head-ons a reliable way to kill enemy aircraft as you do not have to worry about enemy bullets hitting your engine. It is highly recommended to avoid participating in dogfights in the Shinden as almost any single prop fighter at its BR will be able to outturn it so it's ideal to stick to energy fighting. The Shinden also has access to 60 kg bombs that can destroy lightly-armoured targets in mixed battles.

In Simulator Battles the Shinden is one of a few planes which gain the ability to preform a "Cobra" manoeuvre and also has the ability to throttle the fuel mixture throttle down enough to kill the engine and stop most engine fires and even some fuel tank fires that it is prone to receiving. Bring the Tracer Belt in most scenarios as all the other belts have practice rounds.
Pros and cons
<!-- Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective". -->

Pros:

* Pilot has some protection in the back from the engine
* Competitive high speed turn rate
* Good roll rate
* Amazing pitch response
* 4 x 30 mm cannons make for some great offensive firepower
* Great high speed, both, handling and dive
* Since the engine and propeller are located in the rear, it is not likely to take damage or catch fire from shots landing at its front

Cons:

* Has one of the slowest sustained turn rates of its aircraft type in its battle rating
* High speed rudder suffers some compression
* Pilot more exposed at the front.
* Since the engine is located in the rear, it is especially vulnerable to enemies behind it
* Shots to the front may damage its "tail" flaps
* Fuel tanks are easily flammable and do not fully self-seal
* It's very likely that stalls will be fatal even with unscratched machine
* Using combat flaps causes nose-down altitude

The J7W1 Shinden (震電, "Magnificent Lightning") was an Imperial Japanese fighter of WWII that was built near the end of the war in an attempted response to the American B-29 Superfortress bombers. The aircraft used a canard wing formation, (canard wing formation refers to how the main wings are mounted at the rear of the fuselage and smaller wings are placed at the front. Similar to the Curtiss-Wright XP-55 Ascender.) Like the Ascender, the J7W1 was never put into mass-production and was abandoned while still in the prototype stage.

Developed with the intention of intercepting heavy bombers, it was given 4 nose-mounted 30 mm cannons.

Development of the aircraft began in 1944, but shortages of manufacturing supplies continued to delay its development and testing and the first prototype wasn't completed until April 1945. The Navy placed high hopes in the new model and it was originally hoped that the Kyushu's Zasshonokuma factory and Nakajima's Handa plant would be able to produce over a thousand of the aircraft by 1947.

The prototype first flew on 3 August 1945 from Itazuke Air Base. The plane flew a total of three times, each time as a test flight before it was grounded permanently due to the Japanese surrender and end of the war.

Various parts of the Shinden survived the end of the war and its fuselage can be seen at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC.
