=== Pros and cons ===
<!--Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using certain definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".-->

'''Pros:'''

* High engine HP/weight ratio and amazing top speed
* Perfect mobility on roads and urban environments
* Decent speed on plain fields, enough to keep up with light tanks
* Easy to control even at high speeds
* Rather small size, hard enough to hit and easy to hide
* Smoke grenade launchers located on the turret, the player can choose which side of the tank to cover
* Has an anti-aircraft light machine gun
* Decent armament for a light tank: acceptable rate of fire and penetration plus near perfect accuracy using APFSDS
* Two-plane stabilizer allows accurate fire on the move
* Gets the premium tank boost to XP and SL
* Can swim

'''Cons:'''

* Stabilizer only works up to 75 km/h
* Horrible mobility in shallow water and snow results in heavy dependence on roads
* The main gun, while accurate, has low caliber of 60mm, more than one shot is often required to take out enemy tank
* Small crew of 3
* Next to no armour, vulnerable even to light machine gun fire
* Easily taken out by SPAA and other light tanks
* Driver's view ports greatly limit the gun depression on front-right of the tank
* All 6 smoke grenades are launched at once

== History ==
'''Cons:'''

* Will be prioritized as a target by the enemy team due to its notoriety.
* Flips over very often.
* Thin armor.
* Can be destroyed simply by ramming it at top speed.
* Even LMG fire can destroy the engine from the rear.

== History ==
<!--''Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the ground vehicle in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too big, take it to a separate article, taking a link to an article about the vehicle and adding a block "/ History" (example: <nowiki>https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History</nowiki>) and add a link to it here using the <code>main</code> template. In the early 1980s, the OTO Melara company developed a new armored car, called the OTO R 2.5 “Gorgona”. Investing heavily into research and development efforts, OTO Melara continued developing the design into a “Special Task Vehicle” as part of a private venture.

The resulting OTO R3, nicknamed in production as “Capraia” was first shown off at the Italian Naval Exhibition in Genoa in 1982. The new vehicle received increased armor protection around its body, protecting the crew from rifle caliber fire and shrapnel. Furthermore, the vehicle could be armed with various weaponry, ranging from MGs, over cannons to ATGMs, depending on the version.

Despite their very promising and versatile design, this family of combat vehicles were only built and used in very limited numbers.
* There is an engine grille on the roof which is also only 5mm thick. A weak point planes might look to take advantage of.
* This vehicle unfortunately hull breaks quite easily.
* A tightly spaced crew of three makes it easily taken out by machine guns and auto-cannons.
* Can repair friendly tanks
* Good multi-purpose tank
* Can swim

'''Cons:'''

* Light armour is vulnerable to .50 calibre even at medium ranges
The '''{{Specs|name}}''' is a rank {{Specs|rank}} Italian self-propelled anti-aircraft gun {{Battle-rating}}. It was introduced in [[Update 1.85 "Supersonic"]].

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===
<!--Describe armour protection. Note the most well protected and key weak areas. Appreciate the layout of modules as well as the number and location of crew members. Is the level of armour protection sufficient, is the placement of modules helpful for survival in combat?

If necessary use a visual template to indicate the most secure and weak zones of the armour.-->

The R3 T20 FA-HS has light armour able to protect it against .50 cal machine guns from front and medium-calibre machine guns from the sides. Any autocannon or tank cannon is able to shred through this armour. The R3 has an internal layout with the crew separated apart, allowing it to survive damage from non-explosive shot.

=== Mobility ===
<!--Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and maneuverability as well as the maximum speed forward and backward.-->
The R3 T20 FA-HS is very mobile, able to outmanuver most tanks of its rank and is reliant in this to stay alive.

== Armaments ==
=== Main armament ===
<!--Give the reader information about the characteristics of the main gun. Assess its effectiveness in a battle based on the reloading speed, ballistics and the power of shells. Do not forget about the flexibility of the fire, that is how quickly the cannon can be aimed at the target, open fire on it and aim at another enemy. Add a link to the main article on the gun: <code><nowiki>{{main|Name of the weapon}}</nowiki></code>. Describe in general terms the ammunition available for the main gun. Give advice on how to use them and how to fill the ammunition storage.-->
{{main|Oerlikon KAD (20 mm)}}

The [[Oerlikon KAD (20 mm)|20 mm Oerlikon]] is able to fight both aircraft as well as lightly armoured targets from the front.

Upgraded, the gun has access to the 20mm rounds able to penetrate up to 50mm of armour, enabling the tank to shread any tanks that exposes its side to this vehicle. Some heavier tanks are still too heavily armoured from the sides for the gun to penetrate, but these generally don't show up unless you are uptiered.

== Usage in battles ==
<!--Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).-->

The R3 is designated as an SPAA, and performs in this role extremely effectively. The autocannon has a rapid rate of fire and high velocity, allowing the R3 to tear aircraft to shreds. With accurate fire, a short burst will obliterate most aircraft in very little time. When the skies are clear and there are no more planes to shoot down, the R3 becomes a highly flexible vehicle, being able to zip around the map at high speed performing various tasks. Early game it makes an excellent recon vehicle, being able to capture points, oversee the battlefield and destroy enemy vehicles.

With over 50mm of penetration and its exceptional speed, the R3 makes short work of British and American medium tanks from the side and will shred light tanks and other SPAA. The R3 does not have the penetration to handle heavy tanks and so tanks like the KV-1 should be avoided.

=== Pros and cons ===
<!--Summarize and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - they have a substitution in the form of softer "inadequate", "effective".-->

'''Pros:'''

* With the best belt, it is possible to penetrate many tanks, including the sides of the Sherman and many low-rank British and Soviet tanks
* Twin-axis stabilizer
* Immensely fast, often the first vehicle on the cap
* Seemingly invincible wheels
* Front plate has armour thickness sufficient to deflect most machine gun rounds, and even certain light cannon rounds
* Immense fire rate, a 20 mm firing at 996 rounds per minute can do quite a number on low rank aircraft, often snapping wings off IL-2s
* Very little lead is required to score hits on planes
* Large ammo pool, with no need to reload
* Somehow capable of righting itself even when flipped on its roof
* By aiming backwards and down and firing while driving, the recoil can be used as a turbo to propel the light vehicle forward
* Can bounce rounds with its sloped frontal armour
* Can swim

'''Cons:'''

* Very little side and roof armour, can be very easily dispatched by anything larger than a 7.7 mm, in most cases can be destroyed by M2s mounted on both tanks and planes
* Engine is very fragile and susceptible to machine gun fire from behind, concentrated 7.7 mm fire can actually destroy the engine
* Sub-par reverse gear compared with its forward gear
* Tips over ''very'' often, especially when firing
* As with many wheeled vehicles, awful in the sand
* Due to its size, can be very easily crushed
* Hard collisions damage modules and can often injure or incapacitate the crew
* The gun is unable to fully elevate
* A widely hated vehicle by enemy players, you will be a primary target for both aircraft and ground vehicles
* 12.7mm machine gun fire can devastate vehicle
* Recoil will cause the suspension to sway, meaning that a continuous burst will have to be adjusted while firing
* Only 600 rounds loaded into a single belt with no spare, meaning all 600 rounds have to be expended before a resupply is possible

== History ==
''Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the ground vehicle in more detail than in the introduction.
