The Mark 7 nuclear bomb, developed during the mid-1950s in the midst of the Cold War, was the first tactical nuclear bomb adopted by USA armed forces. Intended to be delivered by fighter-bombers using toss bombing method, it weighed just 1,600 lb (730 kg), was streamlined and had retractable stabilizer. Different fissile material assemblies (called "pits") allowed variable yields of 8, 19, 22, 30, 31, and 61 kilotons. The W7 warhead was also used on rockets, depth charges, and MGM-5 Corporal ballistic missile.

Under the USA-UK agreement, Mark 7 bombs were deployed on British [[Canberra (Family)|Canberra]] jet bombers stationed in West Germany.
The '''{{Specs|name}}''' is a rank {{Specs|rank}} German light tank {{Battle-rating}}. It was introduced in [[Update 1.73 "Vive la France"]].

At first glance, the Begleitpanzer 57 may be confused for a SPAA due to the light armoured chassis and the rapid-firing 57 mm autocannon. On the turret is also a TOW launcher with SACLOS guidance, meaning it will automatically align itself with where the crosshair is pointing.

As it shares the same chassis, the Begleitpanzer 57's construction is similar to that of the [[Marder A1-|Marder A1-,]] with light armour all around and sides that heavy machine guns can penetrate. The main cannon's exterior mounting also means it can be disabled by machine guns and shrapnel.

As a light tank, the Begleitpanzer 57 carries great firepower and high mobility. The 57 mm autocannon has a penetration power close to that of the the [[ZSU-57-2]]'s, but the addition of a TOW launcher system makes this vehicle able to engage heavier targets.
* Shells are modeled individually and disappear after having been shot or loaded.
* Racks 2 and 3 are first stage ammo racks. They total 48 shells and get filled first when loading up the tank.
* As the {{PAGENAME}} is equipped with mechanized magazines, manual reloading of the gun is not possible.
* Once racks 2 and 3 have been depleted, you can't shoot until the loader has restocked the mechanized magazines. The restocking time is longer than the normal reload time of the gun. Take this into account when playing.
* Simply not firing when the gun is loaded will move ammo from racks 1 into rack 3 then 2. Firing will interrupt the restocking of the ready racks.
* The depletion order at full capacity is: 2 - 3 - 1.

The Begleitpanzer 57 is a very capable light tank and support vehicle. With proximity fuse HE shells in its 57 mm cannon, it can effectively engage air targets, and can destroy enemy IFVs and even MBTs with its high-penetration rounds. However, when shooting at enemy planes, it is best to wait until they are close before firing, since the vehicle does not have a very high ammo count. Alternatively, the vehicle carries missiles which can be used very effectively to destroy both helicopters and tanks at long ranges. The missile's travel time must be taken in to consideration, but it is nice to have when the enemy is too far away to engage with the 57 mm cannon.

The Begleitpanzer's main cannon can sometimes destroy MBTs from the front, but does damage much more consistently when shooting the enemy's weaker armoured side. For this reason, it is often wise to adopt an ambushing or flanking playstyle. This is helped by the vehicle's small profile and good mobility. It is easy to reach good firing positions and manoeuvre around the enemy quickly and without being seen. (And since the vehicle has poor armour, avoiding being seen will be very important for survival).

While the cannon shares its calibre with the Soviet [[S-68 (57 mm)|57 mm S-68 cannon]], it is quite different in performance with a slower rate of fire and a lesser accuracy. The penetration power is considerably inferior compared to the APCBC belt of the S-68 at 1 km distance. The HE round can be completely ignored as it can not reliably go through the side armour of most MBTs it faces. All of this means that long range firepower relies mainly on your ATGM, of which you only have 6. Upgrading to the better ATGM is highly encouraged due to its increased penetration.

At the end of the day, the Begleitpanzer can be played as a light tank scout. It can't engage the enemy front-on, but it can be a valuable asset to the team and is lethal when played in the correct positions. Be sure to use the scouting ability to help friendly players locate enemy tanks. During night battles, the NVD modification will make scouting both easier to do and even more helpful to the team.

=== Pros and cons ===
<!-- ''Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list.
'''Pros:'''

* Effective against tanks and aircraft/helicopters
* Has ability to utilise scouting mechanic
* Lethal when shooting enemies from the side
* 1st generation gunner thermals
* Proximity HE shells are very good against helicopters (proxy fuse is only active after 500 m)
* Has access to a laser rangefinder
* Gun elevation is linked to the laser rangefinder(Automatically adjusts elevation)

'''Cons:'''

* Low gun elevation (45 degrees) when dealing with enemy planes
* Cannot destroy many enemies frontally
* Fairly low ammunition count
* Lacks a gun stabilizer
* Gun breech is easily destroyed
* Must stop to fire AGTMs
* Loses accuracy when firing continuously

=== [[wt:en/news/5069-development-begleitpanzer-57-bofors-marder-united-at-last-en|Devblog]] ===
The armoured fire-support vehicle Begleitpanzer 57 is a combined project from the Thyssen-Henschel and Bofors companies, developed for scouting and destroying lightly armoured Soviet APCs and IFVs without needing tank divisions for support. To achieve this, the engineers chose the chassis of the German Marder infantry fighting vehicle and installed an adapted version of an automatic 57mm ship cannon on it. Moreover, for fighting with enemy tanks, the Begleitpanzer was equipped with American TOW guided anti-tank rockets and a reloading system for the rocket launcher was developed and placed inside the vehicle’s hull.

The result was a fast and light infantry fighting machine capable of destroying enemy tanks and armoured personnel carriers at impressive ranges. At the same time, it could also land a small group of 3 infantry scouts. Sounds like a great idea! But it was the very universality of the Begleitpanzer 57 that prevented the vehicle from going into series production. The Begleitpanzer 57 turned out to be too lightly armoured for an infantry fighting machine, and too heavily armoured for a scout tank, plus it was not adapted for overcoming significant water obstacles. The military commission rejected the experimental prototype and the project was closed.
== Usage in battles ==
<!-- ''Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).'' -->
The Ozelot requires discipline to use efficiently. Care must be taken not to fire on enemies flying too close, otherwise the missile will not be able to turn quickly enough to hit the target. The Ozelot should be used in an open environment, as obstacles can interfere with the radar guidance of the missiles, or even get hit by the missiles themselves. Helicopters are this vehicle's main opponent.

=== Engaging helicopters ===
Activate the missile seeker and point the blinking green circle at the helicopter. When it turns red, you can fire the missile that will guide itself to the target. Once the missile is fired, you can begin to engage a different target while the missile is still in the air. For very low flying helicopters, you need to aim above the target as much as possible (about half of the circle's diameter, doing more will prevent a lock) in order to prevent the missile from hitting the ground. It may be beneficial if you choose an elevated position like a pile of rubble or a hill to fire from.

Note that it is harder to lock helicopters on winter maps and one may struggle to lock an [[Mi-24A|Mi-24]] helicopter at 2.5 km, which may lead some players to preferring using a [[Gepard]] on these maps.

=== Engaging planes ===
Engaging planes is more challenging due to the missile's low turning rate and energy retention. It is recommended to lock the target using your optical sensor or direct lock in the gunner's optics, but this is not required. As a rule of thumb for fast flying planes, aim as much as possible in front of where the plane is going to be and a little bit higher. Engaging a fast flying plane that is not flying towards you or away from you will usually cause the missile to miss. Experienced pilots will try to spot the white fume trail of the missile launch and will turn very hard, which is very likely to out-turn your missile. Since maneuvering planes will lose energy, you can drain the energy/speed of the plane to a level where you can hit it with your 3rd or 4th missile. If you wait with the launch of the 4th missile until the plane is at 1.5 km, the plane cannot engage you after evading the last missile. However, if you fire your last missile in the magazine too early, they will use their guns to wipe you off the map. Unless you can replenish your missiles on a cap point, it may be more efficient to not fire at planes circling your position.

=== Pros and cons ===
<!-- ''Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".'' -->

'''Pros:'''

* Very fast and agile vehicle
* Small profile and easily hidden
* Missiles require no guidance after firing
* Missiles do not require the vehicle to be stopped to fire.
* Gen 3 thermals for scouting and sighting targets

'''Cons:'''

* No armour
* Surface-to-air missiles can be unreliable
* Can not defend itself against ground vehicles
The '''{{Specs|name}}''' is a rank {{Specs|rank}} American heavy tank {{Battle-rating}}. It was introduced in [[Update "Ground Breaking"]].

It is a American assault tank intended to be used like [[M4A3E2]]. It is based on the [[M26]] Pershing, uses the same 90 mm M3 gun but has additional armour on the front and the turret. Therefore, the T26E5 is able to effectively combat late World war II vehicles with greater efficiency compared to its predecessors.

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===
{{Specs-Tank-Armour}}
<!-- ''Describe armour protection. Note the most well protected and key weak areas. Appreciate the layout of modules as well as the number and location of crew members. Is the level of armour protection sufficient, is the placement of modules helpful for survival in combat? If necessary use a visual template to indicate the most secure and weak zones of the armour.'' -->
The frontal armour is quite strong, able to resist common weapons such as the 7,5cm KwK 42 and the 8,8cm Kwk 43 if angled properly. A notable weak spot on the front glacis is the machine gun port but it is a small target difficult to hit with precision. The other notable weak spot is the lower front plate. With a relatively thin lower glacis, it is not able to absorb rounds from most guns, and there is no transmission to absorb a penetrating shell. However, the side armour can protect you to a certain degree when angled.

The turret armour is strong, consisting of variable thickness armour ranging from 150 to 300 mm thickness, with the mantlet ranging from about 100 to 200mm of protection. A notable weakness in the turret is the first stage ammo, stowed on the left side of the turret, protected by about 170mm of armor, plus 20mm from an added track segment. Any penetrating shell hitting the turret from this side will most likely knock out all of your crew members in the turret as well as detonate the first-stage ammo rack.

The cupola with only 76 mm thickness can be penetrated by an APHE shell, taking out your gunner and commander, however the cupola is small in size, and is not an easy shot to make.

Survivability is about average for a tank of this type. You have 5 crew members, which is standard for US tanks at this time, but the turret is cramped, and a well placed shot can destroy the tank entirely if said round has an explosive filler.

Additionally, this tank only has 25 mm of protection on the roof, making it vulnerable to attacking aircraft with heavier ground focused weapons.

<!-- ''Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and manoeuvrability, as well as the maximum speed forwards and backwards.'' -->
The T26E5 use the same engine as the M26 Pershing. It has a poor power-to-weight ratio and its top speed is 40-43 km/h. But expect the average cruising speed to be closer to 30 km/h. When off-road the speed will drop even more. Lacking neutral steering, it might be difficult for the heavy tank to turn in urban environment. As such, the player should plan the route they want to take carefully and avoid flanking manoeuvres that will take a lot of time.
==== Ammunition ====
The T26E5 uses the same standard ammunition found in the other 90 mm M3 cannons. When first unlocked, the T26E5 will have an APBC(T33) shell as its default round. The APBC has decent characteristics, but since it doesn't have any explosive filler, it should be replaced by the APCBC(M82) shell as soon as possible. The APCR shot can be used to penetrate some heavily armoured vehicle such as the [[Tiger II (H)]], the [[Ferdinand]] or the [[Jagdtiger]] but the player should be aware of the poor post-penetration damage of the APCR projectile. Thus, the APCR should be used as a last resort against an already disabled tank. Additionally, the HE shell can be used to damage lightly armoured vehicles and the smoke shell can be used to provide smoke cover for teammates or to blind entrenched enemy tanks.
=== Pros and cons ===
'''Pros:'''

* Adequately armoured, capable of shrugging off shells fired by lower caliber armaments
* 90 mm M3 cannon is a noticeable upgrade from the Jumbo's 76 mm M1 cannon
* APCR shell is able to penetrate most heavily armoured targets
* Weak spots are relatively small and difficult to hit
* Serves the same purpose and role as the preceding M4A3E2 (76) W Jumbo
* M82 has insane damage potential - either destroys in a single hit or severely cripples your target
* Frontal armour can, when properly angled, even shrug off the dreaded 88 mm shells fired by the Tiger II
* Stronger lower frontal plate than on the regular M26's
* Reverse speed is decently high and fairly responsive
* Strong mantlet armour, a true force to be reckoned with in a hull-down fighting position
* Decent zoom and relatively wide FOV in the gunner's sight
* Fairly quick turret rotation

'''Cons:'''

* 90 mm M3 is inadequate in uptiers
* M82 shot does not like sloped armour - bounces frequently
* Front armor is vulnerable to heavier weapons(Such as the 122mm D-25T and 8,8cm KwK43)
* Increased armour makes the vehicle even more sluggish than the already sluggish M26 its based on
* Very low power-to-weight ratio - sluggish acceleration and low reactive mobility
* Average survivability
* Struggles when uptiered - its armour loses its value due to facing more potent ammunition and the mobility and speed is too low to keep up with the faster, more manoeuvrable cold war MBTs it can face
* Large muzzle break - expect your gun to be knocked out frequently
* First stage ammunition is stored upright in the turret - ammo detonations are quite frequent

The '''{{Specs|name}}''' is a rank {{Specs|rank}} American tank destroyer {{Battle-rating}}. It was introduced in [[Update 1.89 "Imperial Navy"]].

It's essentially an [[M3 Bradley]] with a heavily modified turret. The crew was moved away from the turret and controlls it via interface in the back of the tank. The turret is fully automatic and now carries two enormous missile racks, a radar and the same old gun is tweaked to fire three times faster.

While designations for this tank go all over the place, Bradley ADATS can be simply called a multi-purpose tank, as it can fight fast jets and heavier tanks alike with missiles, while dealing with lightly armored tanks and slower aircraft by using a gun and/or missiles.

The '''Bradley ADATS''' boasts the same protection as the regular '''[[M3 Bradley]]''' hull-wise, with one key difference being that the side armour is thinner by 19 mm. High-calibre machine guns such as the 20 mm's on French MBTs will easily penetrate the sides and at times even the front part of the hull. It's not advisable to use the '''Bradley ADATS''' as a front-line vehicle but rather as a second-line support vehicle by setting up in key-points around maps.

[[File:Bradley ADATS Side-view.jpg|thumb|300x300px|The gap between the Loader/Gunner and the Driver visualized with a green square. Also, you can see the unmanned turret.]]
One upside for the '''Bradley ADATS''' is that the turret is completely unmanned, meaning that any Armour-piercing shells will over-penetrate with no injuries to the crew at all (be aware that explosive shells can cause the rockets to explode and instantly destroy the vehicle). The three crew members are situated in the hull with a massive empty space between the loader/gunner and the driver when approached from the side. Every enemy you face will most likely over-penetrate that section and do minimal damage to the vehicle itself.

Overall, the '''Bradley ADATS''' can be quite a 'meme' vehicle as it can sometimes sustain 5-7 direct hits even centre-hull, seeing as most rounds just pierce and exit the armour without generating shrapnel, over-penetrating and forcing enemies to snipe for crew members.
{{Specs-Tank-Weapon|2}}
<!-- ''Give the reader information about the characteristics of the main gun. Assess its effectiveness in a battle based on the reloading speed, ballistics and the power of shells. Do not forget about the flexibility of the fire, that is how quickly the cannon can be aimed at the target, open fire on it and aim at another enemy. Add a link to the main article on the gun: <code><nowiki>{{main|Name of the weapon}}</nowiki></code>. Describe in general terms the ammunition available for the main gun. Give advice on how to use them and how to fill the ammunition storage.'' -->
{{main|M242 (25 mm)}}

The main armament of the ADATS is the M242 25 mm automatic cannon, the same as found on the M3 Bradley, but enjoys a faster rate of fire (500 rounds per minute, compared to the Bradley's 201 rounds per minute). When stock, like most AA vehicles, it starts with a belt of equal parts armour-piercing and high-explosive, though it is worth mentioning the AP rounds are sabot rounds with 101 mm of penetration at 100 meters against flat armour. This allows it to easily and effectively take on both air and ground threats simultaneously without needing to worry about ammunition costs. However, should you wish to use this vehicle in a dedicated anti-aircraft role, you can unlock a belt with three parts HE to one AP in Tier I modifications. This must be unlocked in order to unlock M791, the AP belt. With this belt, dealing with any and all lightly armoured vehicles and even quite a few of the MBT's is possible from the side. In regards to how much you should take, you may as well take a full ammunition load. At any range, this vehicle can and will be penetrated by any vehicle that looks in its general direction, so it's not like your armour is going to stop you from being ammo-racked by fin-stabilized sabot anyway. Also, due to the cannon's high-ish rate of fire and ammunition count of 600 rounds, it's worth taking as much as you can carry.

Secondary armament of the ADATS (or primary, depending on how you choose to play it) are the MIM146 dual purpose guided missiles. You can effectively use these against any target you can point them at, due to the facts that they air-burst near aircraft, usually one-hit killing them with the 7.86 kilos of TNT equivalent, and have 900 mm of penetration against armoured targets. With a velocity of 1,200 m/s, aiming these things and tracking moving targets isn't an issue whatsoever. You point, you click, and the target usually dies in a single hit. In the event that, by some miracle of God himself, the target persists in clinging to their life, you can fire the MIM's as fast as you'd like to, meaning follow-up shots are quick and easy, and with the aforementioned 900 mm of penetration, anything you shoot these at WILL be penetrated, unless the angle of impact is extreme.
'''Stock Gameplay:'''

As with any vehicle, the ADATS finds itself at a disadvantage while stock. Without access to the thermal vision devices, players will need to be more alert in order to spot enemies. While other modifications like artillery or smoke grenades can be helpful, the lack of thermals is a much larger issue. However the ADATS is relatively well off stock compared to most high tier vehicles, as the stock 25mm belts include APDS rounds, and the radar is capable of spotting air targets for you.

'''Spaded Gameplay:'''

The ADATS is an excellent multi-purpose support vehicle when spaded. Being able to target both enemy tanks and enemy aircraft, it can be a great tool for the team. However, there are some limitations to the vehicle, namely the low missile count and lack of armor. While survivability is decent due to the empty turret, the armor is very thin and the missiles can sometimes explode when hit. This means that the ADATS does best sitting behind friendly tanks, in a support role. Additionally the missiles can run out quickly, as there are only 8 to engage both air and ground targets. ADATS players should try and conserve their missiles, as they are very valuable.

'''Close Range Engagements:'''

The ADATS is capable at close range, but it will die very easily to enemy fire. The 25mm bushmaster autocannon can penetrate the side armor of most enemy tanks, but it will not disable the enemy as quickly as their large cannons are capable of killing the ADATS. The ADATS missiles can be useful at close range as well.

'''Long Range Engagements:'''

The ADATS is more capable at long range, where it can rely on thermal vision and the very fast ADATS missiles to disable enemy targets. The only issue at long range is the low amount of missiles, so shots should be taken with care. Additionally, the ADATS can be quickly disabled if the hull is exposed, so staying hull down is advised. The radar should also be turned off and on as needed, as it provides a good indicator of where you are for enemy ground vehicles, but is very useful in spotting air targets.

'''Gameplay summary:'''

The ADATS is an excellent support vehicle, able to defend teammates from both enemy air and ground threats. The ADATS missiles are excellent at disabling any target, although the low ammo count should be considered. The ADATS is also capable of locking an enemy aircraft without alerting their RWR, by turning off the radar.

One must take excellent care in their method of positioning, however, due to the implementation of the hullbreak mechanic on this vehicle. You can no longer use your turret as a sponge against MBTs to soak up damage, as a single round can easily send you back to the hanger, even if it were a glancing hit.

=== Pros and cons ===

'''Pros:'''

* Has access to 8 x multi-purpose missiles, can effectively eliminate both aircraft and tanks
* Missiles can penetrate up to 900 mm of armour
* Missiles are incredibly fast with a speed of 1,200 m/s
* Powerful 25 mm cannon with good APDS for ground targets and HE ammunition for use against air targets
* Gunner operates the turret and weapons from behind protective hull instead of being in the turret itself
* Built on the chassis of M3 Bradley- good mobility and acceptable armour
* Modifications are researched fairly quickly
* Effective radar with good range
* Can lock on to aircraft with the radar disabled as the ADATS tracks using an electro-optical targeting system, making sneak attacks easy
* Missiles can even be fired without lock on and retain their proximity fuse against aircraft

'''Cons:'''

* Thin armour is not effective against larger cannons
* High profile makes it hard to conceal, it is easily spotted
* Can be destroyed if directly rammed by a plane (hull-break)
* The three crew members are all situated within the hull, and can all be rendered unconscious if a shot penetrates the hull
* The 25 mm autocannon can't reliably penetrate MBTs frontally
* The missiles are essentially giant exposed ammo-racks
* Lack of stabiliser makes firing on the move difficult and increases the time to aim the weapons when suddenly braking
* Missiles cannot be fired on the move, only guided
* Suffers heavily from the [[Damage mechanics#Hull-break|Hull Break]] mechanic

The ADATS was developed at the end of the 1980s as a general-purpose weapon capable of bringing down low-flying airborne targets as well as armoured opponents. Hence the abbreviation: Air Defence Anti-Tank System. The system was comprised of radar for detecting and tracking targets, a complex radio kit for coordinating multiple vehicles, and eight MIM-146 guided missiles in transport and launch containers. The US Army version was built on the Bradley IFV chassis and fitted with a 25 mm autocannon. Notwithstanding the fact that it was selected after a US Army competition for the Forward Area Air-Defence program, it was found to be excessively expensive to manufacture and never made it to serial production on the Bradley chassis.
As the FlaRakRad is the largest ground vehicle in game, and an SPAA, it is not hard for one to guess how the protection situation is. As there is no armour to speak of, the best bet for protecting this vehicle is not to be seen. Try hiding behind large hills, buildings near spawn, and other large obstacles. The non retractable search radar makes it hard to find spots tall enough to hide the FlaRakRad's immense size. However, due to the size of this vehicle, it can take ATGMs from helis occasionally, and can sometimes even eat APFSDS. However, any shot is very likely to cripple you, as the transmission is huge and easily hit.
It is recommended to find a concealed spot near spawn and memorize where the helicopters' airfield is. Helicopters are easy prey for the FlaRakRad; but be careful to take them out quickly or you'll find you have a Vikhr (or Igla) headed right at you. Be careful to not radar lock helicopters, as they usually have RWR and will detect you if you lock them. Try instead to hand guide the missiles. This isn't as hard as it seems, as helicopters mostly hover and without the RWR won't know where the missile is coming from. Once the VT1 missile is unlocked, this allows the FlaRakRad to be able to finally engage aircraft with any hint of reliability. Still, one must exercise discipline when choosing when to engage aircraft, as the VT1 can still be dodged. As for the VT1 against helicopters, it just allows the FlaRakRad to kill enemy helicopters quicker, giving them less time to react. All in all, the FlaRakRad is a competent SPAA once one unlocks the missile and has the flexibility to engage aircraft as well as helis. Keep in mind that after firing the second missile, the FlaRakRad will not begin reloading until the second missile hits something or reaches it's max range and self detonates. This means if you miss the second missile, you are vulnerable to air attack while waiting to reload. Take care not to be hit, and you'll have a good time.
=== Pros and cons ===

'''Pros:'''

* Good speed and mobility; easy to move around on larger maps
* High speed missile with long range
* 1st generation gunner thermals allow the FlaRakRad to track targets without the use of radar easier

'''Cons:'''

* The single biggest ground vehicle in the game, longer and taller than a Maus - finding proper concealment is nigh impossible
* Every single gun in the game, MGs included, poses a threat
* No defence against any ground vehicles
* Lack of guns means it cannot defend itself from close aircraft
* No survivability from attacks from the ground or air

The FlaRakRad self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system with the Roland 3 surface-to-air missile system became the most advanced modification of the Roland, Franco-German anti-aircraft missile. While the army version of the FlaRakPz 1 self-propelled air defense system was equipped with a tracked chassis, the air defense services and the German naval forces settled on wheeled chassis for AA systems for airfield protection. At the end of the 90's, a MAN 6x6 truck was chosen as a chassis for the Roland 2 complex, but soon a unified command vehicle on the chassis of the MAN 15t mil gl KAT I A1 (8×8) truck was adopted, which served as the basis for further development of the Roland family.

One of the latest modernization programs for the complex for the needs of the German army assumed the possibility of launching not only Roland 2 and Roland 3 missiles, but also promising long-range VT1 missiles, but the program was not completed and by 2003 Germany refused to further modernize the Roland complex in favor of more modern systems.
== Description ==
In the second part, tell the reader about the ground vehicle in the game. Insert a screenshot of the vehicle, so that if the novice player does not remember the vehicle by name, he will immediately understand what kind of vehicle the article is talking about.'' -->
The '''{{Specs|name}}''' is a rank {{Specs|rank}} American light tank {{Battle-rating}}. It was introduced in [[Update "Ixwa Strike"]]. The M3A3 variant differs mainly from the M3 Bradley by its laser rangefinder, its APFSDS belt for the 25 mm cannon and more powerful TOW missiles.

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===
{{Specs-Tank-Armour}}
The armor on the M3A3 is significantly upgraded compared to it's predecessor, with additional armor plates all around the vehicle. These armor plates make the M3A3 almost impervious to heavy machineguns such as the M2HB and the DShK. However, any weapon that is about 20MM in diameter or larger(I.e Gepard or Leopard 2K) still pose a significant threat, as such it is better to avoid taking hits when possible.

Ammo is stored in large amounts throughout the tank, with 25MM ammo containers lining the left side of the interior, and additional BGM-71 ATGMs stowed on the right side. The loaded ammunition is stored just behind the turret crew, with a linked belt leading upwards into the breech. Penetrating hits that strike any of these ammunition stores has a high chance of setting the ammo off.

The engine, radiator, and transmission are positioned in the front of the tank, right side of the hull. These components can occasionally absorb hits from smaller caliber weaponry.
=== Modifications and economy ===
{{Specs-Economy}}

'''<big>Unlock order recommendations</big>'''

The order of modifications should be well thought out. Below is a guide of which modifications to unlock first, but it is just a recommendation and can be modified or adapted depending on the tank commander's preferences.

'''Tier 1'''

For tier 1, only one modification is needed to progress to the next tier so it is recommended to just stick with parts as the first modification because it allows you to repair your tank in battle and also is very cheap, allowing you to move on to tier 2 very quickly.

'''Tier 2'''

At tier 2, it is recommended to research NVD in order to allow for easy spotting of enemies in battle so that the M3A3 can survive longer and also get more kills (also making night battles viable). Alternatively, FPE can be researched before NVD in order to prevent the first two fires from knocking the M3A3 out of battle. After both of those modifications are unlocked one more is needed before you can progress to tier 3. Adjustment of fire is a good choice here but none of the remaining modifications (Suspension, Brake system, Airstirke) will make a huge difference so it is up to the vehicle commander.

'''Tier 3'''

Once tier 3 is unlocked, the priority should be either Smoke grenades or TOW-2B depending on if the commander would rather have a chance of hiding his vehicle or would rather have a better weapon. The third modification from this tier that should be unlocked is either Filters in order to improve the mobility or Crew replenishment.

'''Tier 4'''

Moving on to tier 4, the commander can pick either the Engine mod or the APFSDS modification depending on whether improved mobility or firepower is preferred.

'''Finishing up'''

After those two are unlocked, the commander can pick whatever other modifications he/she wants as the remaining mods from all tiers are more minor than the ones that were prioritized. Tracks, transmission, laser rangefinder, horizontal drive, crew replenishment/filters (whichever wasn't chosen before), and ESS are all good modifications that can make a noticeable impact on the battle. The rest - suspension, brake system, airstrike, and the APDS belts - are all minor modifications that will not make much of a difference in battle and as such should be saved for last, in the order chosen by the commander.
== Usage in battles ==
The proper role of the M3A3 in battles is as a support vehicle. Because the secondary missile launcher deploys only when the vehicle is at a slow speed, the gameplay should be slower and farther away from the frontlines of the battlefield. The TOW-2B modification should be used to its best use, allowing for the player to easily compromise enemy sniper positions using their top down effect. The vehicle's scouting ability should also be used on hard to hit or far-away targets. A secondary use for the vehicle is in more close-quarters maps as a flanker, because the 25 mm cannon can easily penetrate the sides and rear of enemy tanks. Regarding survivability, even though the M3A3 has add-on armor compared to its predecessor, the M3 Bradley still doesn't have enough armor to defend against nearly all threats. The vehicle should be treated as if it can be killed from anywhere, from any round, in any place.

'''Stock grind'''

In terms of gameplay, a stock M3A3 is actually not as different from a spaded one as with other vehicles. It is missing many abilities such as TOW-2B missiles, smoke grenades and ESS, engine horsepower, etc. But, the stock vehicle is still very deadly on the battlefield and can be useful to the team. First off, the stock M3A3 is not to be played on the front lines in most cases as it can not fire missiles on the move and also the APDS rounds in the stock 25 mm belt will not penetrate anything heavier than a light tank from the front. It should be played in the second line behind friendly tanks, scouting and supporting them with 25 mm rounds and missiles as needed. The TOW-2A missiles that come stock are great at knocking out tanks from the front, even ones that have ERA. The goal is to not be shot by the enemy but to get assists with the 25 mm gun and kills with the missiles while scouting targets for the team. If possible, flanking routes or long range hull-down sniping are also recommended to try and prevent the tank being hit by enemy fire. In summary, a much more cautious approach should be taken to prevent destruction by enemies and gain RP by getting assists and kills by supporting team mates.

=== Pros and cons ===

'''Pros:'''

* Access to a full belt of 25 mm APFSDS shells - higher consistent performance against (the sides of) enemy vehicles than the M3 Bradley's mixed APDS/HEI-T belts
* Access to the fast travelling TOW-2B top-attack missile - capable of penetrating the weak top armour of enemy tanks, and targeting vehicles that are hiding behind cover
* Access to excellent 2nd generation gunner's thermals and CITV
* Good mobility and respectable reverse speed of -13 km/h
* Scouting ability
* Can use the engine smoke system (ESS) mechanic - deployment of a smoke screen by using the engine and its fuel
* Can engage enemy aerial vehicles with the main gun due to +59° of gun elevation
* -9° gun depression and a small turret mean you can effectively use hull down tactics
* Laser rangefinder for the main gun
* Great zoom of 4.0x - 12.0x and a good sight FOV of 18-6
* The TOW-2B missiles, scouting mechanic and excellent thermals make the M3A3 very effective even at top tier
* More armour than the M3 Bradley, can absorb up to 30 mm APDS (as fired by, for example, the BMP-2) in some places at range
* Quick turret traverse
* The 25 mm APFSDS belt excels against light vehicles and lightly armoured MBTs

'''Cons:'''

* Slightly less mobile and less acceleration than the preceding M3 Bradley, due to the increase in weight
* Continuously firing the main gun increases dispersion, thereby reducing accuracy
* Low rate of fire for the main gun
* Cannot fire missiles while moving at a speed greater than 4 km/h
* Missile launchers take some time to deploy
* Cannot reliably engage enemy MBTs from the front with 25 mm APFSDS
* Infrared countermeasures (as found on the French AMX-30B2 BRENUS and Russian T-90A) will knock the missiles off course
* Despite the increase in armour over the regular M3, the armour is still thin and only 3 crew members - low survivability
* Missiles can be detonated when hit by enemy fire, even while still in the launcher
* Tall profile
* Enemy vehicles equipped with thermals can see through ESS

=== [[wt:en/news/7048-development-m3a3-bradley-the-upgraded-warhorse-en|Devblog]] ===
Following the Gulf War of the early 1990's, US engineers developed a new modification of the widely used M3 Bradley in order to incorporate improvements derived from the operational experience gained during the conflict. As such, the Bradley received numerous upgrades to its electronic systems, including a new fire control system, a laser rangefinder and thermal imaging for the commander along with other improvements to the vehicle's protection and firepower.

The M3A3 modification of the Bradley started being shipped to the first U.S. Army units in 1998 with the first vehicles officially entering service in 2000. By late 2010, well over 3,300 Bradleys were converted to the A3 standard and the vehicle continues serving as one of the cornerstones of the U.S. armored units today.
The '''{{Specs|name}}''' is a rank {{specs|rank}} American self-propelled anti-aircraft gun {{Battle-rating|1}}. It was introduced in [[Update 1.63 "Desert Hunters"]].

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===
Armor is not on your side in the M163, as it is thin enough to be killed by 12.7s from the sides and rear, and any cannon sized armament from the front. The turret is partially open, leaving you vulnerable to enemy light arms fire. If attacked, your best bet for taking a hit is to point your engine towards the enemy and hope it absorbs the shot.

=== Mobility ===
''Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and manoeuvrability as well as the maximum speed forward and backward.''
=== Main armament ===
<!--''Give the reader information about the characteristics of the main gun. Give advice on how to use them and how to fill the ammunition storage.''-->
{{main|M168 (20 mm)}}

A 20 mm VADS, or Vulcan air defence system. Used initially during the Vietnam war, it was a 20 mm air-cooled minigun attached to a small turret on the M163. Dangerous to anything in the sky, it will lock on and rip through anything in its path.

== Usage in battles ==
The M163 has an amazing rate of fire, thus it has amazing damage output. In an anti-aircraft role it is best used as a point defense SPAA, defending a group of allies/ cap zone from air attack. It's range isn't as good as the M247, so it's best to keep in mind the approximate 1km killzone of the M163.

The M163 wields about 60MM of penetration, and at 8.0 battle rating that's enough to mortally wound/destroy many axis vehicles such as the Leopard, AUBL, and Centauro.

The high rate of fire also allows the M163 a sort of CIWS(close in weapons system) type of role, as it can easily spray in the direction of an incoming bomb, thus destroying it and saving nearby allies. This is especially easy against the infamous FAB-5000 bomb from the russian PE-8, as the bomb is large and easy to track.

===Radars===
{{main|AN/VPS-2}}
The M163 is equipped with an [[AN/VPS-2]] tracking radar, with no search radar. The radar is fitted to the side of the turret.
{{Notice|In order to lock on you must be looking through your sight, position the crosshair over a target (within 7 km) and press the lock on key. The target must be within a 2° cone from the centre of the crosshair.}}
{{main|M168 (20 mm)}}

A 20 mm VADS, or Vulcan air defence system. Used initially during the Vietnam war, it was a 20 mm air-cooled minigun attached to a small turret on the M163. Dangerous to anything in the sky, it will lock on and rip through anything in its path.

== Usage in battles ==

The M163 cannot lock on to aircraft in a third person view as it lacks search radar. You must line up the plane in sniper mode to lock on to the aircraft.

===Radars===
{{main|AN/VPS-2}}
The M163 is equipped with an [[AN/VPS-2]] tracking radar, with no search radar. The radar is fitted to the side of the turret.
{{Notice|In order to lock on you must be looking through your sight, position the crosshair over a target (within 7 km) and press the lock on key. The target must be within a 2° cone from the centre of the crosshair.}}
=== Pros and cons ===
<!--''Summarize and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - they have a substitution in the form of softer "inadequate", "effective".''
-->
'''Pros:'''

* Amphibious
* Quick acceleration
* Good traverse, especially when fully upgraded
* Insane rate of fire of 3000 rpm; can literally shred incoming enemy aircraft.
* Has a tracking radar

'''Cons:'''

* Light armour
* Not keen to climbing hills until performance modules are equipped
* Relatively slow for the rank
* Slow in water
* Inaccurate/wobbly in water
* One of the longest rearm/reload times in the game
* No search radar

== History ==
<!--''Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the ground vehicle in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too big, take it to a separate article, taking a link to an article about the vehicle and adding a block "/ History" (example: <nowiki>https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History</nowiki>) and add a link to it here using the <code>main</code> template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <code><nowiki><ref></nowiki></code>, as well as adding them at the end of the article.''-->

The VADS was used during the Vietnam war and onwards and was based on the chassis of the M113 armoured personnel carrier. NATO used it as an anti-aircraft gun platform.
