The name is a gift rank rank German twin-engine fighter Battle-rating. It was introduced in Update 1.79 "Project X". The Bf 109 "Zwilling" is, quite literally, two BF 109 F's stuck together. Featuring a quartet of the MK 108 Maschinenkanonen, also nicknamed "Sledgehammer" due to the firing sound, mounted in the middle of the plane, it is capable of shredding anything in its sights.
<!-- Describe how the aircraft behaves in the air. Speed, manoeuvrability, acceleration and allowable loads - these are the most important characteristics of the vehicle. -->
The Zwilling shares similar characteristics to the American F-82 Twin Mustang, which also so happens to be two of the same plane super-sized and put together. However, two of the main differences is the lack of two cockpits and two pilots and a significantly more powerful armament.

While being significantly heavier, it is still a Messerschmitt and boasts an above-average manoeuvrability for a heavy fighter and high speed due to its twin DB 605's. However, it is significantly less manoeuvrable against single-engined props that it will face, so it is not recommended to turn fight unless they are considerably less manoeuvrable than you.
MK 108 (30 mm)

The PAGENAME is armed with:

* 4 x 30 mm MK 108 cannons, centre-mounted (65 rpg = 260 total)

The MK 108 is a very bad anti-fighter weapon particularly in fighter to fighter combat. Bullet drop and slow velocity result in a severe difficulty leading shots at ranges above 300 meters (350 yds). In dogfights where both aircraft are constantly turning and changing direction, this trait gets even worse. The high speeds of the late props push the necessary lead for hitting the target high and very far in front of the enemy. Training with this weapon system in a custom battle against random enemies is heavily advised.

Suspended armament
Specs-Avia-Suspended
<!-- Describe the aircraft's suspended armament: additional cannons under the wings, bombs, rockets and torpedoes. This section is especially important for bombers and attackers. If there is no suspended weaponry remove this subsection. -->
SC250JA (250 kg)

The PAGENAME can be outfitted with the following ordnance:

* Without load
* 1 x 250 kg SC250JA bomb (250 kg total)

Usage in battles
<!-- Describe the tactics of playing in the aircraft, the features of using aircraft in a team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but instead, give the reader food for thought. Examine the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB). -->
The Zwilling sits at a rather uncomfortable spot as a heavy fighter, it's fast in a straight line and it climbs well, however the plane doesn't have much else going for it. You will only win a dogfight to an F-82, you will not stand a chance against single engined fighters and you have to reserve the plane to a very passive playstyle in order to capitalize on the pros of the plane.

However, where the Zwilling really shines is as a bomber interceptor. The large bodies of bombers make it so that the MK 108's drop isn't as problematic, and the off-centre pilot makes it harder for their gunners to land a shot on your pilot. At the start of a match, climb to bomber altitude (4k-6k metres) and start hunting for prey. If all of the bombers have been destroyed, or there weren't any to begin with, you are safe to use it as a Boom-&-Zoomer or an air superiority fighter.

Pros and cons
<!-- Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective". -->

Pros:

* Extremely destructive armament mounting the dreaded Minengeschoss
* Quite speedy
* Powerful DB 605's allow it to reach high speeds
* Decent high altitude performance
* Exceptional interceptor
* Solid dive speed

Cons:

* MK 108's have an extremely slow travel time and drastic bullet drop
* Increased weight make it harder to maneuver with
* Easy prey for more nimble and heavily armed single-engined fighters
* Sluggish handling at lower speeds and altitudes
* Rudder locks up making aiming virtually impossible at high speeds
* Sluggish roll rate means that trying to hit anyone who is actively maneuvering is a challenge
* Has a tendency to catch fire when hit due to the fuel tank that is positioned where the other pilot should be
* Gun arrangement makes hitting small targets hard, two guns are mounted in both noses and on the outer wings. This means that the 109Z has one of the biggest spreads on any plane in the game (Could be seen as a pro for attacking bombers)

History
<!-- Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the aircraft in more detail than in the introduction. With the start of allied bombing campaigns against German strategic targets in 1942, the Luftwaffe was forced to go onto the defensive for the first time in the war. This sudden turn of events sparked an urgent demand for new heavy fighter and interceptor designs that would counter the ever increasing onslaught of allied bombers and their respective escorts. Although the Messerschmitt company was already working on such a new aircraft that would replace the dated Bf 110 - the Me 210 - several problems during development delayed the project's completion. As a result, new versions of the Bf 110 had to be developed to counter the new threat. However, the RLM (German Air Ministry) wasn't content with the creation of even more modifications of the aircraft as they planned to decrease the amount of different variants for all aircraft in service at the time in hopes of addressing logistical problems that strained production. Inspired by the previous He-111 "Zwilling" project, Messerschmitt engineers began work on a similar alternative heavy fighter based on the Bf 109, that could easily be mass produced and offer better performance (in reference speed) than the Bf 110 already in service, whilst at the same time being cheaper to manufacture than newly designed machines.

By taking two standard Bf 109Fs from the assembly line and "welding" them together, Messerschmitt engineers created what would become known as the Bf 109Z-0 - the first prototype of the "zwilling" Bf 109. In 1943 however, a bombing raid of one of the Messerschmitt plants near Augsburg led to the destruction of the prototype, cancelling the planned tests. Despite this setback, the engineers kept working on the concept and less than a year later, in spring 1944, a new Z-1 prototype, based off the Bf 109G-6, was created. The second prototype differed from the first one, apart from being based on a later variant of the 109, in the abandoning of rifle-caliber guns in favor of interchangeable large caliber autocannons, a common trend for late-war German machines. In the end, the project was ultimately cancelled as resource shortages began afflicting the German industry in the final stages of the war and the concept of a twin Bf 109 fighter was abandoned for good.
Pros and cons
<!--Summarize and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".-->

Pros:

* Normally able to reach bombing points before being intercepted
* Good top speed, able to keep up with fighters at its rank
* Good energy retention
* Versatile, has access to a wide range of ordinance including air to air missiles
* Shafrir missiles have tracking comparable to SRAAMs at distances of less than 1.2 km

Cons:

* Poor manoeuvrability
* Vulnerable to missiles
* Transonic and supersonic aircraft can easily match your speed
* Missiles have a very limited range, will not hit a target from more than 2 km out

The French Vautour twin-engine bomber had been produced in three variants between 1956 and 1959. In 1960, after four years in service, the French Armee de l'Air divested itself of its 25 surviving Vautour II-A single seat ground attack planes, along with its 40 II-B two-seater bombers, selling them to Israel, which kept them in service until the 1970s.
break
The name is a premium Rank rank Soviet medium tank 1. It was introduced in Update 1.55 "Royal Armour". It has the same design as the standard T-44, but comes with a 122 mm gun instead, giving the tank a very high boost in firepower compared to its previous 85 mm cannon.

The most distinctive feature of the T-44-122 is its excellent 122mm cannon. This cannon has the ability to reliably penetrate the front of every single tank at 6.3 except for the T28. However, this does come at the cost of a long reload which can be somewhat assuaged with an upgraded crew (max reload ~23sec).

Succinctly put, the T-44-122 is a go-kart equipped with a 122mm gun. At 6.3 it is highly competitive with its peers, sporting an extremely powerful 122mm cannon, Panther-like armour, and Hellcat-like maneuverability. As such, the T-44-122 makes for an excellent flanking tank due to its high mobility and devastating firepower. A single 122 mm to the side of an enemy tank can instantly destroy it. When flanking, try to stay out of reach from the enemy's cannon as the 122 mm has a long reload and the T-44-122 will be vulnerable in this time period from enemies with cannons like the 88 mm on the Tiger II and possible flankers.

In urban combat, the T-44-122 both excels and suffers due to its 122mm cannon. On one hand, the sheer firepower of the cannon makes for an excellent tank destroying machine; on the other, the long reload make it difficult to deal with multiple opponents. Playing with a teammate is highly recommended.

Additionally, the 122mm cannon also makes the T-44-122 a somewhat good sniper, but this nullifies the excellent mobility which should be utilized on the battlefield.
Usage in the battles
<!--Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but give the reader food for thought. Flank and spank. The T-44-122 plays almost identically to the -85 variant T34/44s, but obviously gets the added bonus of being able to penetrate most vehicles frontally in an emergency.

Most ~6.3 British vehicles with stabilizers (etc. FV4202) are extremely dangerous as they have APDS/AP that can shear through the T-44's armour like butter. Additionally, the Tiger II (H) can only be penetrated through the turret but thankfully such a target is much less mobile than the aforementioned vehicles and also lacks a stabilizer.

Pros and cons
<!--Summarize and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Do not use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - they have a substitution in the form of softer "inadequate", "effective".-->
Pros:

* Devastating 122 mm firepower for a medium tank
* Low profile, can assume hull/turret-down positions and take cover easily
* Ridiculous mobility and corresponding armour
* Better gun depression than the T-44-100
* It is situated at BR 6.3 meaning it's less prone to uptiers

Cons:

* Limited ammo capacity of 24 due to having a heavy tank's gun in a medium tank
* Slow main gun reload speed
* Suffers from poor gun depression inherent in most Soviet tanks
* Front armour is not as strong as T-44 at 75 mm instead of 90 mm, turret is slightly thinner at 110/120 mm
* Driver's port and turret ring can be a weakness
* Tends to face allied teams of which many tanks have 2-plane stabilizers and APDS

Development
In the autumn of 1943 at the Stalin Ural Tank Factory No. 183, the designers started working on a vehicle under orders of Stalin to have major improvements over the initial T-34s. The mobility of the T-34 medium tank was to be similar, but with more armour on it. In November, chief designer A. A. Morozov presented a design and model, and it was designated the T-44 (Object 136). The first prototype was complete on January the next year and two more in February. The first two prototypes are armed with the 85 mm D-5T gun with the designation T-44-85, while the last had a 122 mm D-25-44T cannon similar to the one on the IS-2 tank (Though differing from one-piece ammunition and better muzzle brake) designated the T-44-122. An innovative feature that allowed the mounting of heavy guns on a 30 ton design was the placement of the engine perpendicular to the axis of the tank. This allowed the hull to be made without sponsons, gave the crew a much bigger fighting compartment, had the turret placed on the center of the vehicle, and reduced the vehicle's overall length. However, the ammo stored on the left side of the tank was easily hit and could detonate, destroying the tank. The armour on the design featured 75 mm thick plate on the front, 90 mm on the turret mantlet, side armour is 45 mm thick with the capability of mounting additional 30 mm of armour. These prototypes had a V-2IS diesel engine delivering 500 horsepower. The tank provided many advantages over the T-34 design, the gun accuracy on the T-44 design was arguably better, and the turret ring was more reliable. It presented more than double frontal armour without significantly affecting weight distribution. The increased fighting compartment meant that the turret floor ammunition storage on the T-34 could be removed. Tank height comparison, the T-44 was 300 mm lower than the T-34, and the driver's vision from his hatch is much better than on the T-34.

Testing and cancellation
Trials with the first prototypes began in February 1944. One of the competition was against the German Panther tank. Compared to the T-44-85, the T-44-122 was flawed and unsatisfactory. The large gun made the interiors cramped and unable for the crew inside to work properly. The rate of fire with the 122 mm, even when using single-piece ammunition, was very slow with a maximum of only three rounds per minute. This compounded with the fact that the T-44-122 could only hold 24 rounds inside the tank, makes the T-44 with the 122 mm gun unsatisfactory for the role of a medium tank. Thus, all further development on the 122 mm armed T-44 are cancelled for further development on the 85 mm variant, which continued on to finally being accepted into service on November 1944 and with 1,823 units built from 1944 to 1947.
