The '''{{Specs|name}}''' was a major improvement over the previous variants of the F-16. The previous Block 42 aircraft weighed 3,000+ lbs (1,360 kgs) over the early F-16s. To offset the increased weight, General Electric developed the F110-GE-129 which greatly increased thrust at both low and high altitudes. The Block 50 also received the Westinghouse APG-68 radar which was much faster and generally more reliable. One of the biggest additions to the Block 50 was the ability to fire AIM-120 AMRAAMs and new ground attack munitions. It could also utilize the AGM-88 HARM which was a dedicated SEAD weapon. The USAF received the first F-16 Block 50 in late 1991 and many more were sent to foreign countries as well.&lt;br /&gt;

The Block 42 F-16 was very overweight at an astounding 3,000 lb increase over the F-16A/Bs. This was also compounded by the fact that the Block 42 was intended to carry more ordnance and didn't have any significant thrust increase. As a result, the USAF launched the Increased Performance Engine (IPE) program to increase the thrust of the F-16. The Pratt &amp;amp; Whitney F100 and General Electric F110 engines were both redesigned and were much more powerful compared to their predecessors. The F110, found in the Block 50, featured a thirty-percent increase in thrust at low altitudes and a ten-percent increase at higher altitudes. The Tiran 4S combines the mobility and armor of the T-54 series of tanks in the USSR tree and the 105mm M68 in the US tree. However, it comes with a caveat, the Tiran 4 and Tiran 4S have a significantly slower turret traverse at 5.9°/s. This limitation can be somewhat mitigated by the lack of stabilization on the Tiran 4 and 4S as the gun can be moved much faster by moving the hull in the same direction the gun is traversing. Most of its peers at its BR range have stabilizers which puts the Tiran 4S at a disadvantage. Furthermore, the front ammunition rack is only covered by a small fuel tank in the side and front. Any piercing shot from a high penetration shell or anti-tank guided missile that passes through the fuel tanks will guarantee an ammunition explosion. The Tiran 4S is an upgrade to the captured T-54s in Israeli service. The &amp;quot;S&amp;quot; in the Tiran 4S stands for &amp;quot;Sharir&amp;quot;, which was the name of the 105mm M68 gun in Israeli service. Aside from storage and logistical modifications to the vehicle, the M68's loading system was also redesigned in part due to the T-54's loader being seated on the right of the gun and the M68 being designed to be loaded from the left. Another modification added to the Tiran 4S was the replacement of the hydraulic gun drive with an electrical gun drive similar to the Sho't tanks in service. The hydraulic gun drive was deemed to dangerous by the IDF as penetration of the gun drive caused hydraulic lines to snap and release hydraulic gases inside the crew compartment that would inflict burns and incapacitate the crew, a lesson learned from the Magachs in the Yom Kippur War. The electrical traverse caused the turret to be more cramped and the turret rotation was made slower but was generally safer.&lt;br /&gt;

The R-60, a short range infrared homing missile, is usually most effective at ranges between 600 and 2,200 m (at sea level). The burn time of the R-60's propellant is 3 seconds. Compared to other missiles, the R-60 accelerates slower but for longer when comparing to other missiles (the AIM-9Js fuel last for 2.2 seconds with more force, R-60s having 3 seconds but with less force). The R-60s have better total-force-to-weight ratio when compared to the AIM-9Js. Comparing the AIM-9Js to the R-60s, R-60s have almost half the weight of the AIM-9Js, meaning the R-60s pulls better at lower speeds and  higher altitudes.&lt;br /&gt;

It is also important to note that this missile can uncage its seeker which allow the user to lead the target before launching.
