== Usage in battles ==
<!-- ''Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).'' -->
The EBR can be used as a long range sniper and as a scout thanks to its good optics and fast shell speed, or it can be used as an aggressive flanking vehicle using its superior mobility and reload rate.

The EBR best preforms on the sidelines of the enemy team, using its autoloader and high velocity gun to eliminate any opposition. The lack of explosive filler for the shell makes aiming at crew positions and critical modules important, prioritizing the gun or ammo rack of the target. Thanks to the autoloader and fast turret rotation, it is easy to switch between targets on the heat of combat, and the smoke pods allow for a quick escape if the situation gets too difficult.

;Enemies worth keeping

* [[Tiger I (Family)|Tiger I]] and [[Panzer V Panther (Family)|Panther I]]: Sitting at the same BR, these targets can prove to be difficult. Flanking them and shooting their weakly armoured sides is advised, but in case of a face to face encounter, shooting the right side (from the players point of view) of the Panther's mantlet or the right side of the Tiger's Hull will disable or destroy them. In case these shots are impossible or too risky, one can shoot the barrels, take a track out and relocate and target the side of said tanks.

* [[T26E1-1]] "Super Pershing" and [[Tiger II (H)]]: At a range larger than 200 m these targets become invulnerable to the 75 mm gun, one should side shoot them or disable their guns and tracks.

=== Pros and cons ===
<!-- ''Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".'' -->

'''Pros:'''

* Fast, it can reach 105 km/h on roads, 40 km/h in cross country and 60 km/h on dirt tracks making it one of the most mobile vehicle in its bracket
* The main gun reloads in 5 seconds even with 2 active crew members and the autoloader has a capacity of 12 rounds.
* The shells have a very high muzzle velocity (1,000 m/s for APC) and, despite the lack of explosive filler, deal a lot of damage.
* Both the front and back wheels steer, resulting in a pretty small turning radius.
* The hull armour, in the front (and back), is enough to stop .50 cal AP fire, as well as 14.5 mm AP-I(c) from 200 meters or more; the turret front may be even able to stop some autocannon fire.
* As this vehicle is an armoured car, scouting is available.
* APC shell with a very high penetration of 182 mm at 10 m, able to easily penetrate most vehicles that are faced.

'''Cons:'''

* Due to its shape, a penetration in the front (or back) by any actual tank cannon will mean losing the vehicle.
* The 7° gun depression is far from optimal for players that want to shoot from an hull down position.
* The massive radio antennas will make you visible even when the rest of the vehicle is hidden behind a hill or small building.
* Very easy to spot and recognize from the side due to its size and shape; in addition, the side armour (15 mm) won't really stop anything more than small calibre machine gun fire.
* The roof of the turret, right above the crew and autoloader drums, is 10 mm thick, making it vulnerable to airborne attacks.
* Very slow when moving in mud.
* High risk of ammunition explosion if the turret is penetrated, thanks to the large first-stage ammo rack behind the cannon.

== History ==
<!-- ''Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the vehicle in more detail than in the introduction.
=== [[wt:en/news/7000-development-e-b-r-1954-en|Devblog]] ===
Before the outbreak of World War II, Panhard created a prototype of an 8x8 army wheeled all-terrain vehicle, with the first and last swivel wheel pairs having rubber tires, the middle pairs were metal and not swivel. The army placed an order for the production of 600 of these vehicles, but the outbreak of the war and the occupation of France did not allow the vehicle to be put into production. They returned to an interesting project after the war - the wheelbase received an oscillating turret with a 75 mm gun, which turned the all-terrain vehicle into a light wheeled tank. Later, the base of this vehicle became the basis for several curious army vehicles. It is interesting that it was the Panhard all-terrain vehicle that served as a carriage for the farewell ceremony for the President of the Fifth Republic, General Charles de Gaulle.
== Usage in battles ==
The MARS 15, like all light tanks, relies heavily on early positionning to perform. It is advised at the beginning of the game to reach for an advanced position and provide intel to your team by spotting ennemy targets. Mid-game, thanks to its combination of good mobility, good firepower and good rate of fire, it can be a very effective flanker or a sniper. Indeed, the MARS 15 thanks to its APFSDS ammunition does not have to engage the ennemy from the sides if it want to penetrate their armor and is not as limited asx previous French light tanks in this regard. Its APFSDS shot will go through most ennemies with ease even at range bar few notable ones such as : Maus, IS4, IS7, Object 279, T55 AM1, T62 M1, Conqueror Mk 2, other vehicle will be easily penetrated on their hulls and turret even if some turrets can be tricky like the ones found on the Cheiftain or soviets heavy tanks. The way you will play the vehicle will heavily depends on the map as well as the situation on the battelfield but thanks to its mobilty and firepower it can adapt and be useful in most situations. That being said, keep in mind that you are not a brawler and that anything will penetrate your armor so you are very much advised to plan your movements quite ahead and most importantly try to not be spotted as it'll almost always result in a rapid death.

=== Pros and cons ===

'''Pros:'''

* Low profile
* Good mobility
* Very good RoF of 12 shots per minutes when aced
* Powerful APFSDS rounds which allow the tank to also act as a sniper with the laser rangefinder

'''Cons:'''

* No gun stabilization
* Very light protection
* No night vision devices

The MARS 15 was private venture undertaken by Creusot-Loire Industrie (Property of GIAT Industries now NEXTER) in the late 80's whose purpose was to propose already existing customer of the AMX 13 a new generation of low cost/high efficiency modular platform that could mound a wide array of weapons system as well as be assigned to several purposes ranging from anti-air, infantry fighting vehicle and light tanks. 3 prototypes were built; one using the GIAT TS 90 turret housing the CN 90 F4 90 mm gun, one using the two-axis stabilized DRAGAR turret ( DRAGAR turret is the early development and version of the TARASK turret found on the VBCI IFV vehicle) housing a 25mm chain gun and one using the TML turret housing a CN 105 G2 105mm gun. The platform as well as its various equipment options were proposed on the export market for few years without attracting any potential buyers. Indeed, already existing customers of the AMX 13 preferred to modernize it rather than ordering a whole new vehicle they were not familiar with and the French Army had a huge (and still has) preference for wheeled vehicles for its light reconnaissance units due to tracked vehicle being more expansive both to operate and maintain and was not interested as a result. Seeing the vehicle failing to attract foreign customers as well as not receiving any interest from the French Army, GIAT definitely shut down the project in the early 90's

=== Pros and cons ===

'''Pros:'''

* Fast, it can reach 105 km/h in RB and deals relatively well with off-road terrain, even in reverse.
* The hull armour, in the front (and back), is enough to stop .50 AP fire, as well as 14.5 mm AP-I(c) from 200 meters or more; the turret front may be even able to stop some autocannon fire.
* As this vehicle is an armoured car, scouting is available.
* APC shell with a very high penetration of 182 mm at 10 m, able to easily penetrate most vehicles that are faced

* Very easy to spot and recognize from the side due to its size and shape; in addition, the side armour (15 mm) won't really stop anything more than small calibre machinegun fire.
* The roof of the turret, right above the crew and autoloader drums, is 10mm thick, making it vulnerable to airborne attacks.
* May have some difficulty climbing hills without a running start.
* Very slow when moving in mud.
* High risk of ammunition explosion if the turret is penetrated, thanks to the large first-stage ammo rack behind the cannon.
* Currently has very slow acceleration (compared to other wheeled vehicles with similar HP/ton) and very poor crossing capabilities. Even though these will probably get fixed soon, it definitely affects where the vehicle can go and how fast it can.
* Not very mobile off road, indeed, bar dirt tracks and concrete roads, you'll travel around 35 kph most of the time which is pretty low compared to other wheeled vehicle and some tracked vehicles such as T34-57 and M18 that will have no difficulty to outrun you in a straight line, especially from a stand still position. This is partially recovered by the fact that, being a wheeled vehicle, the EBR does not loose to much speed in turns.

{{Break}}
The '''{{Specs|name}}''' is a rank {{Specs|rank}} French medium tank {{Battle-rating}}. It was introduced in [[Update 1.97 "Viking Fury"]]. An improved version of the AMX-30, it gets an upgraded gun, an upgraded engine, and spaced armour giving additional protection and advantages on the battlefield. There were several versions of the AMX 32 developped. The one in the game represents the 1981 120 mm armed version with the retrofit of a thermal imagery equipment which was proposed in 1985. The tank in game therefore matches what the AMX 32 could have been by 1985 despite the first prototype of the tank being ready by 1979

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===
<!-- ''Describe armour protection. Note the most well protected and key weak areas. Appreciate the layout of modules as well as the number and location of crew members. Is the level of armour protection sufficient, is the placement of modules helpful for survival in combat? If necessary use a visual template to indicate the most secure and weak zones of the armour.'' -->
The AMX-32 is protected by spaced armour on the lower glacis (50 mm RHA, 100 mm air, 79 mm RHA) and the mantlet (2 5mm RHA, 140 mm air, 35 mm RHA), respectively. An improved version of the AMX-30, the tank was built for mobility, not armour. The spaced armour will prevent some spalling of HEAT shells and will nullify any HESH shells. The upper glacis plate is sloped at 81 degrees, meaning almost all incoming rounds will ricochet, often into the turret and damaging the breech and even the turret crew. Overall, in terms of armour, the AMX-32 has enough armour to absorb at most 2-4 shots before being knocked out. The spaced armour is useful in countering HESH and some HEAT shells, but its armour should never be relied on or overestimated.

Additional note:

* Belly armour is 25 mm thick
* Side armour is 35 mm thick, with composite screens (25 mm) on the sides

=== Mobility ===
<!-- ''Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and manoeuvrability, as well as the maximum speed forwards and backwards.'' -->

{{tankMobility|abMinHp=1,240|rbMinHp=708}}

The AMX-32 is powered by a Hispano-Suiza HS-110-2-SR engine rated at 800hp @ 2500RPM, with a transmission providing seven forward gears and two reverse gears, similar to the transmission from the AMX-30. Like the AMX-30, the AMX-32's top speed is 65kph/40mph forward, but the AMX-32 goes 3.9kph/2.4mph faster in reverse thanks to its upgraded engine. The AMX-32 was designed with mobility in mind, and it does just that. It is slower than the AMX-40, but still holds its ground against more sluggish tanks, especially British and Russian vehicles at its BR. However, it should not be overestimated, as tanks such as the KPz-70 will outmatch your mobility anywhere. In an uptier, even more if not all tanks will outperform you in terms of mobility.<!-- ''Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and manoeuvrability, as well as the maximum speed forwards and backwards.'' -->

== Armaments ==
=== Main armament ===
<!-- ''Give the reader information about the characteristics of the main gun. Assess its effectiveness in a battle based on the reloading speed, ballistics and the power of shells. Do not forget about the flexibility of the fire, that is how quickly the cannon can be aimed at the target, open fire on it and aim at another enemy. Add a link to the main article on the gun: <code><nowiki>{{main|Name of the weapon}}</nowiki></code>. Describe in general terms the ammunition available for the main gun. Give advice on how to use them and how to fill the ammunition storage.'' -->
{{main|GIAT CN120-25 G1 (120 mm)}}

The AMX-32 is armed with the GIAT CN120-25 G1, the same 120 mm smoothbore gun found on the AMX-40. It also shares the same ammunition. The stock OCC 120 G1 is a HEAT warhead capable of penetrating 480 mm of non-angled RHA at any distance. At modification tier 4, the option to research the OFL 120 G1 becomes available. It is an APFSDS shell with 394 mm of penetration, giving plenty of kinetic power for its BR. The HEAT shell also holds its ground, and nearly always one-shots any vehicles that hull break, but be wary of your battle rating, as, at 9.3, up-tiers facing the top dogs at 10.3 are imminent. ''All'' tanks at that battle rating have excellent chemical protection, so side and gun breech shots may be your only option. The CN-120 is a great weapon for its BR, and its APFSDS can penetrate any tank in the game frontally if you have enough knowledge of weak spots and armour layout.
Notes:

* Recommended ammo load is 18&nbsp;''(+20)'' shells. This will leave the hull rack empty and the ready rack filled.
* Rack 2 is a ready rack, and takes priority in being filled at the beginning of the battle. It is also emptied first.
* Full reload speed will be realized as long as ammo exists in the ready rack. If the ready rack is empty, a penalty to reload speed will occur.
* Simply not firing when the main gun is loaded will load ammo from rack 1 into rack 2 as long as there is ammo in rack 1. Firing the main gun will interrupt the reloading of the ready rack.

The CN120-25 G1 cannon fires single-piece ammunition from two stowages, the first order rack found in the rear of the turret, and the rack located in the hull front to the right of the driver. It takes the loader about 13 seconds to restock a round into the ready rack from the hull rack.
{{main|20F2 (20 mm)|A-A-F1N (7.62 mm)}}

The 20F2 (French designation of M693) automatic cannon is mounted in tandem with the CN-120 in the turret mantlet. Players who have played the AMX-30 (1972) in Tier V will already know the capabilities of this weapon. Similarly to the [[Rh202 (20 mm)|Rh202]] cannon found on the MBT/KPz-70, it excels at quickly taking out not only light tanks and SPAA, but also cannon barrels, a vital ability that gives the AMX-32 the upper hand in one-on-one combat. If the enemy tank fires at you and hits or misses, you are able to overextend, destroy the cannon barrel with the 20 mm, and safely engage the tank with your 120 mm. Lightly armoured tanks, IFV's, and anti-aircraft vehicles will be quickly taken care of by the 20F2.
The 7.62 mm AAN-F1 machine gun is mounted on the commander's fully traversable hatch. It is helpful in engaging helicopters which are too high for the 20 mm cannon's elevation limits. It is overshadowed by the 20F2, but is useful nonetheless, especially for taking out those pesky Balloons on the Normandy tank map.
== Usage in battles ==

The AMX-32 plays similarly to the AMX-30 in battles. It can be played effectively in ambushes, as a sniper (with its rangefinder and thermal optics), and use cover to the utmost advantage. With the gun stabilizer, you are able to poke out of cover, shoot, and retreat. This is especially useful when sniping, and using "leapfrog" tactics with a friendly vehicle. In the latter case, when the enemy shoots, move out of cover and take a shot, and if you want, use your 20 mm cannon to destroy their cannon barrel. Do not rely on your armour though, as most if not all shots WILL penetrate and make quick work of you. Players must make sure that they either make the enemy shoot and miss or get the first shot off on said enemy. This applies only in one-on-one combat if both the enemy and the AMX-32 see each other. If more than one tank is waiting for you, either retreat and make them come to you, try baiting or flanking, or get a friend to help. On the other hand, being able to shoot and then remove their main means of retaliating via the autocannon proves extremely useful, especially in an ambush. All in all, the AMX-32 is a very capable tank that can quickly return several enemies to the hangar without receiving major damage, if played right.

'''Pros:'''

* Great firepower and secondary armament
* Excels with ambush tactics and can destroy tanks before they even know your position
* Good mobility and reverse speed
* The gun has a two-plane stabilizer, thermal optics, and a laser rangefinder

'''Cons:'''

* Lacklustre armour protection, especially against kinetic shells
* Longer reload than other tanks at its battle rating
* The tank's mobility can and will be outmatched, especially in an up-tier

As soon as the AMX 30B entered service in 1966 it was pretty clear that this tank would not be able to face the newly introduced Soviet T64 tank and as a result would need to be replaced or dramatically improved over the course of it's serviceable life. Therefore improvements had to be incorporated into the design to keep it competitive. Various development program saw the light at the end of the 60's and all were ultimately meant to be incorporated to the AMX 30. These improvements had to improve the characteristics of the tank in the three main defining MBT traits : Firepower, mobility and armor with the company GIAT being the project manager of all studies that were to be undertaken.

The EFAB (Etablissement de la fabrique d'arme de Bourges/Weapon manufacturing facility of Bourges) were to improve the firepower of the tank

The AMX-APX were to improve the armor of the tank

Hispano Suiza ans SESM (today RENK France) company were to improve the mobility of the tank

SFIM were to improve the optic/optronic suite of the tank.

In the meantime, the AMX-APX started a private project whose goal was to develop a new tank based on the AMX 30 to replace it until a French 3rd generation tank would be available. This tank was named AMX 32 and it's development started in 1975 with the first prototype being ready in 1977. The tank at this time featured a rebuilt AMX 30 hull with spaced high hardness RHA armor at the front of the hull as well as new FCS control system named COTAC introduced 2 years earlier on the AMX 10RC coupled to a new electrohydraulic turret powering unit called ATS GS 32, a fully rotating stabilized panoramicsight with a 2nd generation light intensifier at the disposal of the commander called M527 designed by the SFIM, a semi automatic gearbox ENC200 minerva with torque converter and a DI VT 13 2nd generation light intensifying camera. The new tank was also capable of firing on the move thanks to the M527 commander panoramic sights whose stabilized mirror gyroscopes were able to send inputs to the tank gun servos thus stabilizing it on both axis when the commander used it's priority controls over the turret.

The AMX-APX tried to sell this new tank to the French Army but the price was found to be prohibitive for what was thought to be replaced in less than 10 years... Therefore it was decided that the project should be solely dedicated to the export market. The French GIAT was not satisfied with the first version of the tank. if it had to attract foreign customers, this tank would not afford to be just a more expansive French Leopard 1A4 clone which already had a very good reputation and could be acquired for a fairly low price. It was decided that the AMX 32 had to become the best 2.5 generation MBT if it was to have a chance to be sold.

Therefore the GIAT ordered that new improvements had to be made. especially in the protection and firepower department, that's why GIAT assigned the EFAB to the design of a larger, better protected turret capable of housing the soon to become CN 120-25 L/52 120 mm smoothbore cannon firstly intended for the EPC program. In less than 2 years the turret was ready as well as a new turret for the more basic 105 mm gun. These two turrets had similar layouts and protection levels only the gun mantlet as well as the position of the night vision device were different and were both showcased at SATORY 1981, the 120 mm version was also proposed with a boosted HS 110-2-SR developping 800 HP in order to keep the HP/ton ratio around 20. Two versions of the tank attracted a lot of interest but ultimately, no orders were ever placed. Despite probably being the best modernized second generation tank of it's time, the niche market of modernized 2nd generation MBT was simply too tight for this tank to fit with modernized Leopard 1's and M60's monopolizing the said market. The GIAT tried once again with the AMX 40 this time being a fully new tank which was better protected and much more mobile rivaling M1's and Leopard 2's in mobility and firepower. However it encountered no more success than the AMX 32. The AMX 32 was proposed for the last time on the export market in 1985 before being replaced by the AMX 40 until 1990, the year it too won't be proposed any longer.

Despite the tank failing to attract customers, a lot of what was put into it was used to modernize the AMX 30 which would become the AMX 30B2 as well as in the EPC program most notably in the FCS department.

Retrospectively, French Army made a mistake by not buying this tank at all as well as the AMX 40. Not only the history showed that the EPC program came much later than expected and leaving french army with totally obsolete tanks in the late 80's but also that something that is not adopted even by the country where it was designed has very few chances to be bought by foreign customers. That being said this tank represents a real milestone in the French tank development history.

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===

=== Mobility ===
<!-- ''Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and manoeuvrability, as well as the maximum speed forwards and backwards.'' -->

{{tankMobility|abMinHp=1,240|rbMinHp=708}}

== Armaments ==
=== Main armament ===
{{main|GIAT CN120-25 G1 (120 mm)}}

{{main|20F2 (20 mm)|A-A-F1N (7.62 mm)}}

== Usage in battles ==

The '''{{specs|name}}''' is a Rank {{specs|rank}} French medium tank {{Battle-rating}}. It was introduced in [[Update 1.75 "La Résistance"]].

The vehicle follows the conventional western tank design of the mid Cold War with four crew members and a 105 mm gun. It has good armour on the UFP that can bounce some weaker shells but the sides, rear and top are very weak, making the vehicle highly vulnerable to air attacks and SPAA fire even from a distance. It has good acceleration, mobility, and firepower. Its turret resembles that of the T-54 series from the sides due to its rounded shape, so be careful in SB and check twice before firing at this tank because you may hit your ally if you do not pay enough attention... This can prove both to be an up and a downside depending on who's actually making the mistake.

This vehicle has the particularity to throw the usual 7.62 or .50 co-axial MG away for a powerful rapid firing 20 mm autocanon that can be elevated up to 40° that fires HEIT and APIT projectiles with a penetration up to 40 mm at close range and against straight armor. This weapon is very useful to deal with light ennemy tanks that are rushing you since this gun will simply wreck them, especially if they show their flanks. This gun is also very effective at taking down attacking aircraft that would be crazy enough to rush straight at you or pass you by at low altitude and low speed. At last, this gun can destroy walls, trees and every obstacles you may encounter. The AMX-30B2 also has an unmatched firepower at it's BR. Its 105 mm gun fires both the OCC 105 G1 shell found on the first AMX-30, but also the dreaded and powerful OFL 105 F1 which is nothing less than the second most powerful APFSDS shell in the BR bracket. The AMX 30B2 is also the only MBT that has access to thermal imaging device at this BR. Unlike passive IR sight that can only be used during night times, thermal imaging allows you too see within the infrared spectrum even during bright day conditions ! Even though its device is a first generation one, every ennemy tanks will be glaring in your sight and all you will have to do is to pick them off with your powerful gun. Thermals Imaging System is a very powerful tool and at this BR, gives it's users a tremendous advantage. This particular configuration simply tells you all about this tank, just like in real life where it used it's superior detection and acquisition devices to engage and destroy targets from afar, you should simply do the same in the game by staying back and supporting your team from afar using your laser rangefinder, thermal imaging system and your powerful APFSDS to outrange and delete enemies from a distance.
== Usage in battles ==
<!--''Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).''-->
French AMX-30B2 needs to be played more carefully than its other NATO counterparts such as the M60A1 (A0S) or the Leopard A1A1 due to the lack of a stabilizer, hence making firing on the move and/or after short stop more risky than if you were playing a T-62 in the case of a sudden frontal encounter. As a result the French AMX-30B2 is the best played as a second line support tank, a long range sniper or a flanker. You cannot expect to drive straight into battle and come out victorious in this tank.

This tank is, above everything, a sniper tank. The lack of a stabilizer will restrict your playstyle on most city or clustered maps. In these kinds of environment, you will have to play much more slowly and carefully than the other tanks because most tanks amongst other nations come with a stabilizer such as the Cheiftain, the T-62 or the T-10M. Just advance slowly and try to be as much aware of your surroundings as you can be because this will prove to be a real life saver in this kind of environment. You can also simply lay ambushes to your enemy by patiently waiting for someone to come in front of your gun, destroy this enemy and quickly relocate using the tank's good mobility.

On big maps however, this tank can unleash all of its potential as the lack of a stabilizer won't be a problem on big maps, find a good location with a clear line-of-sight of commonly used routes to the capture zones and use the binoculars, thermal imaging system as well as the laser rangefinder to snipe your enemies from long distance, they simply wont be able to return fire soon or well enough before a final blow (if it's not done already) achieved through a AMX-30B2's perfectly ranged and aimed shot.

To sum it short, this tank plays very differently than other MBTS from all nations. It's not as versatile or flexible as other vehicles, but is extremely good at what it does the best due to top notch gun and ammunition as well as range-finding device.

In terms of enemies: every stabilized tank can prove extremely dangerous to you in CQC. Also due to your lack of armour, any tank you can encounter in your BR bracket can and will penetrate you frontally if they lay their gun on you. The best method is often to avoid direct combat or, if you have to do it, make sure that you will do it where you'll have the advantage also known as range.

German cannon CAS is also the bane of this tank due to its very thin roof armour. If a player decides to hop into their Me 262 A1/U4 for a payback, it'd be very wise to find a hard cover or a very dense forest in the next 30 seconds because 30 and/or 30 mm canons loaded with AP shells will be on their way with the AMX-30B2 as a priority target.

=== Pros and cons ===
<!--''Summarize and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".''-->
'''Pros:'''

* Very powerful 105 mm APFSDS.
* Thermal Imaging System for the gunner
* Fast turret traverse system.
* Big ready rack allowing a good sustained RoF of 9 shots per minute
* Coaxial 20 mm autocannon with 40° of elevation to deal with thinly armoured vehicles and CAS aircrafts.
* Good survivability when being hit in the turret front as the massive 105 breech and the 20 mm breech will absorb a lot of damages.
* Smoke shells and grenades are available.
* Average -8 degree gun depression.
* Laser rangefinder being a great help to snipe over long distances accurately.

'''Cons:'''

* No stabilizers, which restricts the play style of the vehicle.
* Inadequate hull armour against other Rank VI vehicles.
* 15-20 mm roof armour can be exploited by aerial attacks.
* high cupola that can be exploited by enemies when behind a cover.

== History ==
The AMX 30B2 is the second and most noticeable version of the AMX 30. Most of the improvements found in these vehicles had first been successfully tested on the AMX 32 export MBT which found no buyers most important changes were :

- Improved firepower with the introduction of the OFL 105 F1 APFSDS

- Improved firing control system with the COTAC digital firing control system

- Improved mobility by replacing the original transmission by a semi-automatic gearbox incorporating a torque converter as well as the installation of reinforced torsion bars and shock absorbers

- Improved night fighting capabilites with the installation of a second generation light intensification device

- A new hydrostatic steering mechanism.

The first vehicles were delivered to the "Armée de terre" in 1981. In 1985 the light intensification device got replaced by a CASTOR thermal camera, the vehicle depicted in the game is therefore an AMX 30B2 as it came out of the factory in 1985. The AMX 30B2 was also meant to receive either a stabilized electro-hydraulic turret and weaponry drive unit designed by the SAMM (Société d'Application des Machines Motrices) or a stabilized comander periscopic panoramic sight interlocked with the turret drive unit through the priority controls of the commander over the turret (This system is what got used on the AMX 32 and AMX 40 to ensure a firing on the move capability). Neither of these two solutions were chosen due to the cost of such systems coupled to cuts in the defense budget. Therefore the AMX 30B2 remained one of the rare 80's MBT that was not able to fire on the move. Despite this fact, all the improvements incorporated into the design made that the AMX 30B2 was still a formidable 2nd generation MBT in the early 80's.

AMX 30B2 had the opportunity to fire in anger during the first Gulf War in 1991 where they outperformed Irakis modified and modernized T55 and T62 as well as BMP's. However at that point in time, even though it performed admirably well, the AMX 30B2 was simply obsolete and was about to be replaced with the AMX Leclerc and even if the latter began to rapidly replace the AMX 30B2 in every cavalry regiments, it's not until the early 2000's that the AMX 30B2 stopped being in active service and fully decomissionned. Most of them were destroyed but some were still used until very recently by the FORAD whose the point is to simulate ennemy tanks during exercises. In 2018 after more than 50 years of service, the AMX 30B2 used by the FORAD got definitely scrapped.
