== Description ==
<!-- ''In the description, the first part should be about the history of the creation and combat usage of the vehicle, as well as its key features. In the second part, tell the reader about the ground vehicle in the game. Insert a screenshot of the vehicle, so that if the novice player does not remember the vehicle by name, he will immediately understand what kind of vehicle the article is talking about.'' -->
The '''{{Specs|name}}''' is a rank {{Specs|rank}} Swedish tank destroyer {{Battle-rating}}. It was introduced in [[Update 1.97 "Viking Fury"]].

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===
{{Specs-Tank-Armour}}
<!-- ''Describe armour protection. Note the most well protected and key weak areas. Appreciate the layout of modules as well as the number and location of crew members. Is the level of armour protection sufficient, is the placement of modules helpful for survival in combat? If necessary use a visual template to indicate the most secure and weak zones of the armour.'' -->
The Sav m/43 has up to 50 mm of armour in front, which is capable of deflecting some guns commonly encountered but is still vulnerable to larger calibres. It has better frontal protection than the [[Ikv 72]], but is still rather lightly armoured from other angles. It should be noted that the engine deck is only 10 mm thick, and can be penetrated by aircraft heavy machine guns and cannon. The side armour is only 15 mm thick at most, and can also be penetrated quite easily by heavy machins guns and autocannon fire.

Due to the cramped crew compartment and scattered ammunition within the compartment, any penetration by a shell is likely to cause critical damage to multiple modules and/or crew members.

=== Mobility ===
{{Specs-Tank-Mobility}}
<!-- ''Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and manoeuvrability, as well as the maximum speed forwards and backwards.'' -->

{{tankMobility|abMinHp= 227|rbMinHp= 142}}

The Sav m/43 is based on the chassis of the [[Strv m/41 S-II|Strv m/41]] and thus has a similar level of mobility. It is considerably heavier, however, and thus correspondingly more sluggish. While the forward top speed is adequate, the reverse speed is quite poor, making it hard to retreat. It is also noticeably slower than the [[Ikv 72]].

== Armaments ==
{{Specs-Tank-Armaments}}
=== Main armament ===
{{Specs-Tank-Weapon|1}}
<!-- ''Give the reader information about the characteristics of the main gun. Assess its effectiveness in a battle based on the reloading speed, ballistics and the power of shells. Do not forget about the flexibility of the fire, that is how quickly the cannon can be aimed at the target, open fire on it and aim at another enemy. Add a link to the main article on the gun: <code><nowiki>{{main|Name of the weapon}}</nowiki></code>. Describe in general terms the ammunition available for the main gun. Give advice on how to use them and how to fill the ammunition storage.'' -->
{{main|kan m/02 (75 mm)}}

The Sav m/43 is armed with the '''7,5 cm kan m/02''', an older and weaker 75 mm field gun compared to that used in the [[Ikv 72]]. It has wider traverse arcs and higher maximum elevation, but less gun depression than the Ikv 72, though still quite good at -10 degrees. It starts off with the unremarkable '''slpprj m/40''' uncapped AP shot, which is adequate against most opposition it may encounter but tends to suffer ricochets against sloped armour. However, once upgraded, the gun may fire the '''slpgr m/39''' uncapped APHE shell and the '''slpprj m/40B''' APBC shot. The former round has a very lethal 260 g TNT filler but tends to ricochet more and has less penetration, while the latter has better penetration and ricochets less, and is thus more useful in uptiers. It is recommended to carry a mixture of both APHE and APBC unless the Sav m/43 is top tier, in which case the APHE alone is sufficient.
== Usage in battles ==
<!-- ''Describe the tactics of playing in the vehicle, the features of using vehicles in the team and advice on tactics. Refrain from creating a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view but instead give the reader food for thought. Describe the most dangerous enemies and give recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB).'' -->
The Sav m/43 is a more forgiving alternative to the [[Ikv 72]]. Like the Ikv 72, it performs best in hull down positions, as it can use the depression to present a steeper angle on the frontal armour to increase its effective thickness. It is somewhat less vulnerable than the Ikv 72, though it is still very weakly armoured from the sides, top, and rear, and must be played accordingly. It is also rather less flexible than the Ikv 72 due to its poorer mobility.

While the gun is quite adequate against most enemies, it becomes obsolete in uptiers, where tanks with good armour such as the [[M3 Lee|Medium Tank M3]] and [[Matilda Mk II|Matilda]] can be encountered. The armour on the Sav m/43 also becomes inadequate quite quickly in uptiers.

=== Pros and cons ===
<!-- ''Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in a bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".'' -->

'''Pros:'''

* Decent frontal armour in a downtier
* Lethal APHE round, able to frontally penetrate and one-shot almost all tank it faces
* Wide gun traverse arc and good gun depression allows turret to acquire target without requiring constant adjustment of the hull
* Decent top speed
* Has smoke shells which can "lock down" an enemy area by shooting smoke shells there
* Adequate reload speed
* Has small silhouette

'''Cons:'''

* Low penetration works poorly against heavy targets such as [[M4A3 (105)|M4A3(105)]], [[B1 ter]]
* Very thin side, rear, and roof armour
* Very slow shell velocity, leading and shooting fast tanks (eg. [[M22]], [[BT-5]]) is hard
* Curved shell trajectory demands precise aiming at long range
* Shells have weak penetration past 500m
* Mediocre mobility and poor reverse speed

== History ==
<!-- ''Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the vehicle in more detail than in the introduction.
In March of 1940, Sweden ordered about 90 TNH tanks (known as the Panzer 38(t) in German service) from ČDK, but Germany, which had occupied Poland in 1938, confiscated the tanks for its own use as the Panzer 38(t) Ausf. S. Sweden still needed the light tanks, and after negotiations the Swedish manufacturer Scania-Vabis was allowed to produce them under license, and compensation for the lost tanks. Sweden ordered 116 Strv M/41 SI in June, 1941, and in June of 1942 Sweden ordered 122 Strv M/41 SII. The last 18 Strv M/41 SII were built as the Sav M/43 in 1944. Another 18 Sav M/43 were purpose-built afterwards. The Sav M/43 was a casemate assault gun made by removing the turret of the Strv M/41, and adding a casemate superstructure, initially housing a 75 mm gun. The 75 mm gun was replaced by a 105 mm M/44 Bofors cannon. The Sav M/43 served in artillery units until 1951, when they were given to armored units instead. They served until 1973.

=== [[wt:en/news/6595-development-stormartillerivagn-m-43-en|Devblog]] ===
In 1942, Sweden began developing a new SPG built on a modified chassis from the Czech LT vz.38, better known as the Pz.38(t) in the German army. This new SPG was supposed to be equipped with the 75mm L/31 cannon that was already in production. By autumn of 1942, a wooden model of the planned vehicle had been created and, after a number of improvements, the project advanced to manufacturing prototypes. Exactly one year later, in October of 1943, testing began. The SPG passed with flying colours and hit assembly lines under the designation Sav m/43 (short for "Stormartillerivagn", Swedish for "assault artillery carriage"). A little later, a version with a 105mm gun came out, and, by the end of 1946, all m/43 SPGs had been re-equipped with this new cannon. The Swedish army had used this SPG until the early 70's. From the moment it entered military service until the end of the Second World War in Europe, the Sav m/43 vehicles were grouped by the Norwegian border and then assigned to infantry units as fire-support vehicles when the army was reorganised.

'''Pros:'''

* Has access to APDS, not common in reserve tanks
* APDS round has 105 mm of penetration at point-blank range, enough to penetrate any enemy tank you meet
* Quick reload rate of 4.1 s
* Is the smaller reserve Tank in the game
* Effective mobility - max speed of 51 km/h

'''Cons:'''

* APDS round has no explosive filler, so multiple shots will be needed to finish off an enemy

This is a Panzer III, upgraded to carry a short 75 mm KwK37 cannon, which can also be found on a number of [[Pz.IV F1|Panzer IV variants]], as mounting the [[KwK40 (75 mm)|infamous long variant]] of the 75 mm gun failed, so a compromise was made. '''Pros:'''

* Fast-firing main gun
* Fast automotive characteristics, including acceleration and track traverse
* Tracks cover much of the sides, meaning a little better staying power under artillery barrage

'''Cons:'''

* Armour is almost never enough under sustained fire
* M4s, M22s, and M5s love to bounce your shots if not carefully aimed

=== In-game description ===
The Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. N variant was an assault tank. Ausf. L and Ausf. M chassis were used to produce this variant. This variant was produced to meet the need for a stronger tank, one that could more effectively handle the Soviet T-34 and KV-1. A 75 mm long-barreled gun could not be installed in the turret due to the turret box's limited size. The designers decided to use the short-barreled 7.5cm KwK37 L/24 gun along with hollow-charge shells. This explosive projectile packed more punch than the 5 cm KwK39 L/60 gun. To accommodate this change, the gun's mantlet was redesigned. The gun's recoil mechanisms were improved, the single-hinged hatch for the command turret was replaced with a two-hinged hatch, and the thickness of the commander's cupola walls was increased to 100 mm. This variant's operational weight was 23,000 kilograms. Most of the tanks received a 5 mm Schutzen side skirts to protect the tank's hull and turret.

Production of Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. N tanks began in June 1942 and lasted until August 1943. A total of 700 of these tanks were built. 3 were built from Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. J tanks, 447 from Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. L tanks, 213 from Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. M tanks, and 37 from other variants after they had returned from the front.

This tank variant earned a good reputation with the troops and, by the beginning of the battle at the Kursk Bulge, the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS owned 155 vehicles of this type.

Some of the tanks was transferred to Romania, Slovakia, and Croatia. Tanks of this variant were used until the end of the war and were transferred to Allied forces after Germany's surrender.
H'' (''Pz.II H'' for short) as part of the "Heavy Armor advanced pack". In [[Update_1.89_"Imperial_Navy"#Ground_vehicles_2|Update 1.89]], the vehicle was renamed to the current designation.

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===
Having 30 mm of frontal armour, this tank isn't made for the frontlines. The three crew members mean that 1-shot destruction is a common possibility. Worse still, this tank has no roof protection with the cloth covering being only cosmetic. Unfortunately, this also means that you are very vulnerable to aircraft attacks too. Your demure silhouette will let you easily hide in the small nooks and crannies of maps and lets you cover your entire tank with bushes for extra concealment.

=== Mobility ===
<!-- ''Write about the mobility of the ground vehicle. Estimate the specific power and manoeuvrability, as well as the maximum speed forward and backwards.'' -->
This vehicle has a horsepower-to-ton ratio of nearly 20 which translates to a very mobile and nimble tank. The top speed of 56 km/h is good but still pales in comparison next to the 90 km/h of the Puma armoured cars. However, its tracks handle much better at high speeds than the Puma's wheels, and it is able to make far tighter turns and faster stops. The maximum reverse speed is 10 km/h, which for a tank is decent and will let you easily get out of perilous situations where other tanks of the rank struggle when retreating.
== Armaments ==
=== Main armament ===
<!-- ''Give the reader information about the characteristics of the main gun. Assess its effectiveness in a battle based on the reloading speed, ballistics and the power of shells. Do not forget about the flexibility of the fire, that is how quickly the cannon can be aimed at the target, open fire on it and aim at another enemy. {{main|PaK 38 (50 mm)}}

The PaK 38 is probably the best gun you can find at this battle rating range. The shells have decent penetration, good post pen damage and an incredible APCR round makes this tank able to punch way above its weight. Don't be afraid to take this tank into higher rank battles. Beware, though, it will struggle against the upper front plate of T-34s and Shermans, so remember their frontal weak spots. Not that you should be engaging those tanks frontally anyway. Always bring high explosive rounds, as the lack of any secondary armament makes lighter vehicles harder to fight effectively.
* Is very, very fast (Max speed off-road of around 56 km/h)
* Has a decent reload speed
* Because of lack of armour, some shells will pass right through you
* Can change positions very quickly if needed
* Can get to the cap points and good positions early in the match

'''Cons:'''

* Weak armour - trade-off of speed for less weight
* Open top, planes can destroy the vehicle with machine guns when strafing very easily
* No stabiliser, which means that the gun will take a moment to settle after stopping the tank
* Has very bad depression angles
* If your tracks or engine are knocked out, you are a basically a sitting duck
=== In-game description ===
In July, 1940 Armament Command ordered two light tank prototypes with enhanced weaponry from the company MAN. Rheinmetall-Borsig built the cannons and the bulkheads comprising the body.

In January, 1942 four tanks were produced and immediately sent to the Eastern Front as part of the 1st and 3rd squads of the 559 Antitank Battalion.

An open-top rotating hexagonal turret with no rear wall was installed. Its primary weapon was a 50mm KwK 39.
The '''{{Specs|name}}''' is a gift rank {{Specs|rank}} German light tank {{Battle-rating}}. It was introduced in [[Update 1.43]] as the ''Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. H'' (''Pz.II H'' for short) as part of the "Heavy Armor advanced pack". In [[Update_1.89_"Imperial_Navy"#Ground_vehicles_2|Update 1.89]], the vehicle was renamed to the current designation.

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===

=== Mobility ===
== Armaments ==
=== Main armament ===
<!-- ''Give the reader information about the characteristics of the main gun. Assess its effectiveness in a battle based on the reloading speed, ballistics and the power of shells. {{main|PaK 38 (50 mm)}}

* Open top, planes can destroy the vehicle with machine guns when strafing very easily
* Has very bad depression angles
* If your tracks or engine are knocked out, you are a basically a sitting duck
In July, 1940 Armament Command ordered two light tank prototypes with enhanced weaponry from the company MAN. Rheinmetall-Borsig built the cannons and the bulkheads comprising the body.

In January, 1942 four tanks were produced and immediately sent to the Eastern Front as part of the 1st and 3rd squads of the 559 Antitank Battalion.

An open-top rotating hexagonal turret with no rear wall was installed. Its primary weapon was a 50mm KwK 39.
{{break}} -->

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===

=== Mobility ===
== Armaments ==
=== Main armament ===
Describe in general terms the ammunition available for the main gun. Advise about how to use them and how to fill the ammunition storage.'' -->
{{main|PaK 38 (50 mm)}}

'''Pros:'''

* Has a gun which will reliably penetrate pretty much any of its expected enemies
* Is very, very fast (Max speed off-road of around 56 km/h)
* Has a decent reload speed
* Has the scouting ability, can earn you some extra silver lions and valuable intel for your team

The '''{{Specs|name}}''' is a gift rank {{Specs|rank}} German light tank {{Battle-rating}}. It was introduced in [[Update 1.43]] as the ''Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. H'' (''Pz.II H'' for short) as part of the "Heavy Armor advanced pack". In [[Update_1.89_"Imperial_Navy"#Ground_vehicles_2|Update 1.89]], the vehicle was renamed to the current designation.

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===

=== Mobility ===
== Armaments ==
=== Main armament ===
Advise about how to use them and how to fill the ammunition storage.'' -->
{{main|PaK 38 (50 mm)}}

=== Pros and cons ===

'''Pros:'''

* Has a gun which will reliably penetrate pretty much any of its expected enemies
* Is very, very fast (Max speed off-road of around 56 km/h)
* Has a decent reload speed
* Has the scouting ability, can earn you some extra silver lions and valuable intel for your team

=== In-game description ===
