The Agano is very fast for a cruiser and can keep up with some destroyers when fully upgraded. The ship makes up for its overall semi-weak armor with speed. It is able to weave in and out of combat at will and is relatively maneuverable when compared to its usual adversaries.

=== Scout plane ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Plane}}

Located amidships is a catapult with one Aichi E13A1 scout plane (the second stored on the trolley is not available) which provides unique offensive and defensive abilities, expanding tactical options. Ship-launched scout planes fly just like regular tree units but lack munition choices and cockpit views. The E13A1 is equipped with a [[Type 97 navy (7.7 mm)|7.7 mm Type 97]] defensive machine gun and a formidable load of 4 x 60 kg bombs. It also has the scout plane ability to cap zones and lay down smoke cover (up to 3 times). Captains will be wise to remember to utilize the aircraft and consider when best to use it, for example to cap a point early or late in the match, to create a smoke screen to stymie enemy bombardment and repair, to attack enemy units directly, or perhaps something completely new! Carrying a heavier bomb load than most other scout planes, this unit has a very good chance to sink enemy boats or even a destroyer.

== Usage in battles ==
''This cruiser is agile and fast but should be used with caution. Her firepower is acceptable for the light cruisers she faces. It is recommended to stay in the rear lines of the team and provide fire support. A good game technique is to shoot an enemy that another player on the team is already shooting at.''

Its torpedoes are very good, like all Japanese torpedoes, but they will be rarely used in battle. Launching torpedoes at long range is a roulette of chance and most of the time they will not hit other ships. If used, it is recommended to use them in short confrontations (less than 5 km), where they will be more effective, and due to their speed, difficult to avoid.

It is recommended to unlock and use SAP shells as soon as possible, as HE shells only deal superficial damage. Although the HE can be annoying for the enemy, it will hardly kill another ship.

Prioritize the fire, it kills the crew very quickly.

You have to be careful with direct hits, as it is very susceptible to suffering from Irreparable Breaches, which will sink the ship quickly.

The reconnaissance planes are an interesting addition; however, they must be used when the ship is hidden, or it will be an easy bank to be sunk.

=== Pros and cons ===
<!-- ''Summarise and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".'' -->

'''Pros:'''

* It can stay afloat with 2 compartments flooded.
* 16 Long Lance torpedoes are devastating against enemy ships.
* Very fast for a cruiser, can keep up with some destroyers when fully upgraded.
* Main guns have a great rate of fire in first stage.

'''Cons:'''

* 25 mm AA guns cannot engage close targets.
* Torpedoes have very limited firing arc.
* Armour is mediocre, other cruisers will punch right through it at close range.
* Turrets are large and lack armour, can thus easily be disabled.
* Main gun shells are very weak.

== History ==
<!-- ''Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the ship in more detail than in the introduction. Agano was the lead ship of four light cruisers built to supersede and replace the older cruisers serving as destroyer flotilla flagships in the Imperial Japanese Navy. Launched in October 1941, she entered service a year later and saw her first operation escorting troop transports to New Guinea in December 1942.

The ship was involved in Operation Ke, the evacuation of 10,652 Japanese troops from Guadalcanal as well as the Battle of Empress Augusta Bay, an American victory which closed the Solomon Islands campaign.

Several weeks later, American airstrikes damaged the ship as it lay in port at Rabaul and whilst en route to receive repairs, she was struck by a torpedo from an American submarine which flooded the boiler rooms and knocked out all power.

The submarine Albacore prepared to finish the helpless and immobile ship but was prevented from doing so by depth charges from the Urakaze. Taken under tow to Truk, Agano underwent 4 months of repairs before being able to attempt the journey back to the home islands of Japan in February 1944, for more permanent fixes.

Ambushed by the American submarine Skate, Agano was hit by 2 torpedoes and sank 6 hours later.

Her destroyer escort Oite took on 523 survivors from the Agano but was herself sunk 2 days later by Grumman TBF Avengers of Task Force 58 during Operation Hailstone. She sank almost immediately with the loss 172 out of her 192 complements whilst all 523 survivors of the Agano were lost.
Carrying a heavier bomb load than most other scout planes, this unit has a very good chance to sink enemy boats or even a destroyer.

== Usage in battles ==
It's a pretty fast ship. It is recommended to use it on the back of the maps, avoiding being the point of attention. Coastal boat capture points can be reached under certain game conditions, but if it is done, the costal boats will usually attack with torpedoes and the ship will be sunk.

''In case of fire, flooding and repairs, prioritize putting out the fire before any other damage, as the fire kills the crew very quickly.''

It is more efficient to use the boat at about 35° or 40° with respect to its transverse axis (Bow – Stern), since the possibility of receiving impacts that generate fires or floods can be minimized.

It is not advisable to fight coastal boats at close range because the anti-aircraft defense does not have the capacity or the depression to fire downwards and neither do the main guns.

It is always preferable to attack from a long distance and not become the center of attention because as soon as they start to catch fire and have to repair breaches, crisis management is not going to be good, and it will be reduced in a brief time.

Even with the improved distance measurement, projectiles tend to impact beyond the target, therefore, it is recommended to aim a little “below” the targets.

* It's a pretty fast ship.
* Turrets are placed along whole ship which makes them hard to disable.
* Its first ammo type, high explosive, is quite good against Destroyers. It is functional if used against Cruisers, seeking to set them on fire, however it is not ideal for confronting large ships directly.
* The second type of bullet, SAPBC, is quite good for more heavily armored ships since it can generate ammunition explosions by penetrating the hull more efficiently. This ammunition does not generate surface fires as frequently but allows you to disable turrets.
* 16 long range torpedoes (with torpedo modification)
* When the crew is above 70%, putting out fires is quite simple.
* In realistic battles you can survive a flooded compartment (usually from a torpedo hit).

'''Cons:'''

* His command post is very exposed. These catches fire very easily which causes the boat to lose the ability to steer and change speed.
* Almost all of her crew compartments were located on the deck, making them extremely vulnerable to HE shells. The ship catches fire very quickly.
* Its anti-aircraft weapons are considerably basic. Defending against planes will be very difficult. Defending against coastal ships will be almost impossible. They have no cover or view towards the back of the boat.
* Can't release all torpedoes to one side.

IJN Sendai was the lead ship of the ''Sendai'' class, a class of three light cruisers built for the Imperial Japanese Navy following the end of World War 1. Designed to serve as leaders of destroyer flotillas, the ships were built in the early 1920s.

''Sendai'' saw service during the second Sino-Japanese war, and later served as the flagship of Destroyer Squadron 3 during the Second World War.

She participated in numerous conflicts including the Battles of Guadalcanal, and was sunk during the Battle of Empress Augusta Bay, having been critically damaged by American light cruisers.

'''Service Career''':

* Completed at the Mitsubishi Nagasaki shipyards on '''29 April 1924'''.
* Initially assigned to Yangtze River patrol in China.
* Played a crucial role in the '''Battle of Shanghai''' during the early stages of the '''Second Sino-Japanese War'''.
* Covered the landings of Japanese forces in southern China.
* Became the flagship of '''Destroyer Squadron 3''' under Rear Admiral Shintaro Hashimoto during the '''Japanese Invasion of Malaya'''.
* Engaged in escorting transports carrying Lieutenant General Tomoyuki Yamashita and the Japanese 25th Army for the invasion of Malaya.
* Participated in the bombardment of Kota Bharu, Malaya.
* Sunk on '''3 November 1943''' by United States Navy cruisers during the '''Battle of Empress Augusta Bay''' in the Solomon Sea.

[[File:Sendai class Cruisers (1923).jpg|thumb|494x494px|[https://naval-encyclopedia.com/ww2/japan/sendai-class-cruisers.php Sendai class Cruisers (1923)]]]
The Sendai-class cruisers were a class of three light cruisers, built as a follow-up to the previous Nagara class. As destroyer flotilla flagships, they were essentially enlarged destroyers, and displaced just 5,500 tons full. ''Sendai'' was armed with seven 140 mm (5.5 inch) guns, mounted in single mounts. The turrets were mounted in an unusual arrangement, with two guns fore, two guns on either side of the bridge, and three guns aft. ''Sendai's'' secondary and anti-aircraft suite was extremely sparse, with several 25 mm and 13.2 mm guns. ''Sendai'', similar to the previous ''Nagara'' class, carried sixteen 610 mm "Long Lance" torpedoes, with four dual launchers and eight reloads.

* '''Armament''':
** 7 × 140 mm (5.5 in)/50 guns (7x1)
** 2 × 80 mm (3 in)/40 anti-aircraft guns
** 4 × 610 mm (24 in) torpedo tubes (2x2)
** 48 × mines

[[File:ONI depiction of the class.jpg|thumb|500x500px|''[https://naval-encyclopedia.com/ww2/japan/sendai-class-cruisers.php ONI depiction of the class]'']]
Her top speed was 35.3 knots (65.4 km/h; 40.6 mph), extremely fast for a cruiser. This allowed ''Sendai'' to maintain speed with the destroyers that she would command. She was also able to carry a reconnaissance seaplane, being fitted with a catapult and seaplane recovery facilities.

''Sendai'' was ordered in the early 1920s and completed by April 1924. Before the outbreak of war, she served extensively in the East China Sea, and participated in the second Sino-Japanese war.

* '''Displacement''': 5,195 long tons (5,278 t) (standard)
* '''Length''': 152.4 meters (500 feet)
* '''Beam''': 14.2 meters (46 feet 7 inches)
* '''Draft''': 4.9 meters (16 feet 1 inch)
* '''Installed Power''': 90,000 shp (67,000 kW)

'''World War II Service'''

Following the outbreak of the Second World War, ''Sendai'' served as the flagship of Destroyer Squadron 3. At the time of the Pearl Harbour attack, she was escorting troops to the invasion of Malaya. Sendai covered troop landings for most of early 1942, and later served as part of the main fleet cover during the attack on Midway.

In July of 1942, ''Sendai'' attacked American troops landing at Guadalcanal; she participated in both of the battles of Guadalcanal. During the second battle, she was shelled by the battleship USS Washington, but survived without damage.

In March of 1943, Sendai was reassigned to the eight fleet as an escort; during her time there, the fleet was repeatedly attacked by American aircraft. She survived these attacks unscathed. However, ''Sendai'' ultimately met her demise at the Battle of Empress Augusta Bay, where the Japanese force (composed of cruisers ''Myoko'', ''Haguro'', ''[[IJN Agano|Agano]]'' and herself, as well as several destroyers) were attacked by the American cruisers ''[[USS Cleveland (CL-55)|Cleveland]]'', ''Columbia'', ''Montpellier'' and ''Denver'', along with several destroyers of their own. Hit by concentrated fire from all four American cruisers, she sank with the loss of 184 crew members; the remaining 230 were rescued by her escorts.

=== [[wt:en/news/6514-development-sendai-the-night-raider-en|Devblog]] ===
The Sendai-class of light cruisers were a further development of the preceding Nagara-class, which itself was the successor to the Kuma-class. All ships of these classes were part of the Japanese 5,500-ton light cruiser design conceived in the years following WWI, with the Sendai-class being planned as the final ships to be based on this design.

To this extent, initial plans foresaw the construction of 8 vessels of the Sendai-class, however, with the signing of the Washington Naval Treaty in 1922, Japan was forced to cut back on these plans. This resulted in 4 ships being cancelled and one being broken up on the slipway, while the remaining ships did in fact see completion.

Sendai, as the lead ship of her class, was laid down in February 1922 and saw completion in April 1924. With the outbreak of hostilities in Asia in the late 1930s, Sendai took part in the Second Sino-Japanese War, participating in the Battle of Shanghai and providing support for Japanese land units.

During WWII, Sendai's early war service mostly consisted of escorting convoys around Malaya and Indochina while the ship also formally took part in the Battle of Midway, though not actively engaging Allied forces.

Sendai saw the height of her service career during the Solomon Islands campaign, taking part in both naval battles for Guadalcanal. Roughly a year later, in November 1943, Sendai was involved in the major naval battle of Empress Augusta Bay. There, Sendai would meet her fate, being heavily damaged by concentrated gunfire from four US cruisers, sinking on the following day on 3rd November 1943.
== Description ==
<!-- ''In the first part of the description, cover the history of the ship's creation and military application. In the second part, tell the reader about using this ship in the game. Add a screenshot: if a beginner player has a hard time remembering vehicles by name, a picture will help them identify the ship in question.'' -->

The '''IJN Kako''' (加古, [[Abbreviations#.28JP.29_Naval|namesake]]: Kako River) was the second ship of the Furutaka-class heavy cruisers of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Much like her sister ship ''[[IJN Furutaka|Furutaka]]'', ''Kako'' was designed to counter the American [[Omaha (Family)|''Omaha''-class]] light cruisers, featuring high speed and relatively heavy armament for its time to both outrange and outrun them.

After patrolling and engaging in skirmishes around the waters of China in the early 1930s, ''Kako'' received a major refit in 1936 to replace her 200 mm guns to the standard 203 mm guns of other Japanese heavy cruisers. She was later assigned to Cruiser Division 6 with her sister ''Furutaka'' and a pair of ''[[IJN Aoba|Aoba]]''- class heavy cruisers. ''Kako'' and Division 6 would participate in several battles, covering the island-hopping campaign during the early stage of the Pacific war. After the Battle of the Coral Sea, Division 6 would be merged to form the Eighth Fleet. On 8 August 1942, ''Kako'' and her fellow Division 6 comrades would engage in the Battle of Savo Island, to which the IJN managed to score a major victory and sunk several Allied ships. ''Kako'' was credited for sinking the American heavy cruiser USS ''Vincennes'' during the battle. Just two day after the triumph, however, ''Kako'' would met her demise on 10 August, when she was ambushed and stuck by three torpedoes from the USS ''S-44''. At that time, she was the largest Japanese warship to be sunk by a submarine.

Introduced in [[Update 1.89 "Imperial Navy"]], Kako is in her 1935 configuration (just a year before major refit that replace her turrets similar to her sister ship [[IJN Furutaka|Furutaka]]). As with Furutaka, Kako was initially designed to meet the 10,000-ton displacement restrictions of the Washington naval treaty, and as such features several unique quirks for a heavy cruiser. To reduce the weight of the ship, the Kako features only few secondary and AA mounts. While this made her particularly vulnerable against aerial threats, the result is that the Kako has only 8,640 tons of displacement - comparable to most of the post-treaty light cruisers - while having greater protection compared to ships of a similar or higher displacement, as well as similar good mobility. Despite her low BR, Kako should never be underestimated, as her slow-firing 200 mm guns pack quite a punch against most ships she will face, especially at close range.

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Armour}}
<!-- ''Talk about the vehicle's armour. Note the most well-defended and most vulnerable zones, e.g. the ammo magazine. Evaluate the composition of components and assemblies responsible for movement and manoeuvrability. Evaluate the survivability of the primary and secondary armaments separately. Don't forget to mention the size of the crew, which plays an important role in fleet mechanics. Save tips on preserving survivability for the "Usage in battles" section. If necessary, use a graphical template to show the most well-protected or most vulnerable points in the armour.'' -->
For a heavy cruiser, the Kako's protection is average. The main citadel is covered with 76.2 mm of RHA and citadel deck armour varies between 31.75 to 34.9 mm. The armour can withstand a fair amount of beatings from mid-to-long ranges (6 km or more), thought became much more vulnerable when not angled.

While the Kako features a low crew count of 616 men, she is able to maintain most of her crew due to the lack of secondary and AA mounts, which means she will only lose sailors when the crew compartment is damaged.

Along with her sister ship [[IJN Furutaka|Furutaka]], the Kako has the unique perk of being able to withstand fire damage with little to no crew loss due to her crew compartments is located further away from the deck and are spaced from each other. This ability makes the Kako much more bearable for new captains who don't have FPE, and allows experienced captains to focus on repairing the more serious damage on the ship.

=== Mobility ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Mobility}}
<!-- 'Write about the ship's mobility. Evaluate its power and manoeuvrability, rudder rerouting speed, stopping speed at full tilt, with its maximum forward and reverse speed.'' -->
Due to her low displacement, the Kako features good mobility that is comparable to a light cruisers. She can accelerate and decelerate faster compared to other heavy cruisers and turns quite well when upgraded.
{{Specs-Fleet-Primary}}
<!-- ''Provide information about the characteristics of the primary armament. Evaluate their efficacy in battle based on their reload speed, ballistics and the capacity of their shells. {{main|20 cm 3rd year type No.1 (200 mm)}}

The Kako features six 200 mm 3rd year type No.1 cannons mounted in six single turrets arranged in an unusual A-Bs-C-X-Ys-Z setup. While the turret itself had sluggish traverse speed, this peculiar turret setup allows the A-B and X-Y turrets to rotate freely without having to turn around when the ship is changing directions, as well as provides wide gun coverage when angled.

The 200 mm guns are extremely powerful for the Kako's battle rating, as they can deal a serious damage against more advanced cruisers when aimed properly and are devastating against destroyers that she will usually face. The main guns have access to two type of shells; an HEF shell with 8 kg of TNT equivalent, which is very powerful against destroyers and deals consistent damage against cruisers, and an APC shell with 219 mm of
penetration at 10 km with decent 3 kg of explosive filler, this shell is able to penetrate any opponent and deal serious internal damage, as well as penetrate dreadnoughts at close range.

On the other hand, the 200 mm guns have a slow reload time of 15 seconds (ace crew), and a whooping 22 seconds when all the ammunition in the ready rack has been used. The guns also have a rather poor accuracy as the shells will occasionally scatter around the target.

{{Specs-Fleet-Secondary}}
<!-- ''Some ships are fitted with weapons of various calibres. Secondary armaments are defined as weapons chosen with the control <code>Select secondary weapon</code>. Evaluate the secondary armaments and give advice on how to use them. Describe the ammunition available for the secondary armament. {{main|120 mm/45 10th year type (120 mm)}}

The secondary armament of the Kako is four 120 mm 10th year type cannons, placed in pairs on the port and starboard side of the superstructure. The guns have a short reload time of 4 seconds and a relatively good accuracy. This, however, is your only line of defense against aircraft, as your anti-air armament is just four machine guns. The guns are loaded with HEF shells by default with an option to use HE-TF shell for anti-air defence.

{{:120 mm/45 10th year type (120 mm)/Ammunition|120 mm Type 1 HE, 120 mm Type 0 HE}}

=== Anti-aircraft armament ===
[[File:Type 93 13.2mm on Kako.jpg|thumb|right|Type 93 machine guns are located on both sides of the Kako's main superstructure]]
{{Specs-Fleet-AA}}
<!-- ''An important part of the ship's armament responsible for air defence. Anti-aircraft armament is defined by the weapon chosen with the control <code>Select anti-aircraft weapons</code>. Talk about the ship's anti-air cannons and machine guns, the number of guns and their positions, their effective range, and about their overall effectiveness – including against surface targets. If there are no anti-aircraft armaments, remove this section.'' -->
{{main|Type 93 (13.2 mm)}}

The Kako has only four 13.2 mm Type 93 machine guns for anti-air armament. The guns are mounted in a twin-barrelled setup on the ship's superstructure. The guns have very poor damage output and will not help to deter any aircraft and PT boats that come close to the Kako. This leaves the 120 mm guns as the only reliable defensive weapons against PT boats.

=== Additional armament ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Additional}}
<!-- ''Describe the available additional armaments of the ship: depth charges, mines, torpedoes. Talk about their positions, available ammunition and launch features such as dead zones of torpedoes. If there is no additional armament, remove this section.'' -->
{{main|Type 8 No.2 (610 mm)}}

The Kako is loaded with 24 x 610 mm Type 8 No.2 torpedoes, launched from fixed launchers on each side of the ship. From each side can be launched up to 12 torpedoes, with six loaded inside the tube and other six in the ready racks. While the torpedoes are not as fast or powerful as the famous Type 93 torpedoes, they still pack 380.6 kg of TNT equivalent, which can sink a destroyer in a single hit and deal a considerable amount of damage against cruisers. Unfortunately, the aforementioned fixed torpedo launchers will limit the usage of the torpedoes, as you will have to move your hull to adjust your torpedo aim and exposing your vulnerable sides. Thus it is mostly suitable for mid-to-long range area denial barrages.

=== Scout plane ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Plane}}

Located amidships is a catapult with one E7K2 scout plane which provides unique offensive and defensive abilities, expanding tactical options. Ship-launched scout planes fly just like regular tree units but lack munition choices and cockpit views. The E7K2 is equipped with only defensive machine gun turrets (ventral as well as dorsal) but it does carry 4 x 60 kg bombs.

== Usage in battles ==
<!-- ''Describe the technique of using this ship, the characteristics of her use in a team and tips on strategy. Abstain from writing an entire guide – don't try to provide a single point of view, but give the reader food for thought. Talk about the most dangerous opponents for this vehicle and provide recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of playing with this vehicle in various modes (AB, RB, SB).'' -->
The Kako's playstyle mostly depends on the opponent she faces. In a match with the same tier opponents such as destroyers and early light cruisers, the Kako is capable of pushing the targets by lending its devastating firepower at its battle rating to quickly dispatch the opponents while tanking hits in return. Otherwise when facing more advanced and better-protected cruisers, the Kako can act as a fire support ship, delivering powerful salvo and launching barrages of torpedoes at longer ranges. Her main anti-air armament are the 120 mm secondaries, especially when equipped in HE-TF shells, while they will rarely stop a dive bomber, they can score kills against a larger bombers at range, like a [[Pe-8]]. For that reason, it's best to stay near friendly (preferably non-Japanese) warships that can provide a more potent anti-air cover.

=== Pros and cons ===

'''Pros:'''

* Great main armament
** 6 powerful 200 mm (7.9 inch) cannons
** Guns have separate turrets which allows to keep more firepower active as a turret gets taken out
** Shells are falling in a relatively parallel line, making it easier to score multiple hits against targets in a medium-to-long range
* Good top speed and agility
* Good survivability
** Very durable against destroyers
** Can bounce several shots when angled properly
** Resilient against fire damage
* Carries large amount of torpedoes
* Carries a scout plane

'''Cons:'''

* Fixed torpedo launchers
* Weak anti-air capability
* Poorly protected turrets can be easily knocked out
* Slow turret traverse
* Large target and usually priority targeted over other vessels especially by airplanes carrying large payloads

Created as a counter to the American Omaha and British Hawkins class cruisers, the Furutaka class was designed to act as a scouting cruiser capable of protecting the main fleet from enemy scouts. While the ship was designed before the Washington Naval Treaty, she still fell within the displacement and calibre limits with 7,500 tons of displacement and the main armament of six 7.9 in/20 cm cannons mounted in single turrets; she also had a torpedo armament of 12 x 21-inch torpedo tubes mounted in the hull. These armaments would change as both Furutaka and Kako were modernized shortly after being completed, with their single mounted guns being replaced with three twin turrets and two quad-torpedo launchers being added near the aft.

During the first months of the Pacific War against the United States, Kako was assigned to Sentai 6 and tasked in covering the invasions of several islands including Guam, Wake, and New Guinea. Sentai 6 was then assigned to Operation MO, the invasion of Port Morseby, and partook in the Battle of the Coral Sea on May 7, 1942. Their next major action would not be until August, but would also be their largest. Kako and Sentai 6 had been assigned to the new Eighth Fleet. In response to the American invasion of Guadalcanal, the Eighth Fleet sortied out to counter the invasion force. On the night of August 8-9, 1942, Kako and the fleet of 4 heavy cruisers, 2 light cruisers, and a destroyer surprised the Allied Fleet in a night attack off Savo Island.

Fighting at close ranges with searchlights, flares, and star shells, Japanese naval artillery devastated the Allied fleet, sinking 4 heavy cruisers and forcing the American support ships to abandon the Marines on the island. While the battle was a stunning victory for the Japanese, they failed to sink any of the landing ships and fled the area for fear of retaliation from American carrier planes; However, it was the American submarine S-44 who got revenge. On August 10, while the Eighth fleet was returning to Rabaul, the S-44 fired four torpedoes at Kako, scoring three hits. The Kako quickly took on a list before her boilers detonated, sinking the cruiser but only taking 68 sailors with her. Kako was struck from the Japanese Naval list a month later.
== Description ==

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Armour}}

=== Mobility ===
Broadly describe the ammunition available for the primary armament, and provide recommendations on how to use it and which ammunition to choose.'' -->
{{main|20 cm 3rd year type No.1 (200 mm)}}

{{main|120 mm/45 10th year type (120 mm)}}

{{:120 mm/45 10th year type (120 mm)/Ammunition|120 mm Type 1 HE, 120 mm Type 0 HE}}

=== Anti-aircraft armament ===
[[File:Type 93 13.2mm on Kako.jpg|thumb|right|Type 93 machine guns are located on both sides of the Kako's main superstructure]]
{{Specs-Fleet-AA}}
{{main|Type 93 (13.2 mm)}}

=== Additional armament ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Additional}}
<!-- ''Describe the available additional armaments of the ship: depth charges, mines, torpedoes. Talk about their positions, available ammunition and launch features such as dead zones of torpedoes. If there is no additional armament, remove this section.'' -->
{{main|Type 8 No.2 (610 mm)}}

=== Scout plane ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Plane}}

== Usage in battles ==

=== Pros and cons ===

The '''{{Specs|name}}''' (球磨, [[Abbreviations#.28JP.29_Naval|namesake]]: Kuma River) is a rank {{Specs|rank}} Japanese light cruiser {{Battle-rating}}. It was introduced in [[Update 1.89 "Imperial Navy"]].

== General info ==
=== Survivability and armour ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Armour}}
If necessary, use a graphical template to show the most well-protected or most vulnerable points in the armour.'' -->

The IJN Kuma is the weakest light cruiser when it comes to taking enemy fire, being unable to repel anything but destroyers in a direct, short-range gun battle. On top of having the lowest crew complement among cruisers, it suffers from one major weakness: ammunition explosions.

[[File:Kuma-armour-xray-composite.jpg|thumb|left|450px|Kuma's Charges, Shells and Torpedoes (highlighted red) are exposed to a direct enemy fire]]

Both: First-stage ammo stowage and its main ammunition storage (Charge/Shell/Ammunition storage rooms) are exposed to direct enemy fire. The main storage is somewhat protected by the 44.6&nbsp;mm plate above it, however, it's above the waterline, allowing for lucky shells to get unimpaired into one of the rooms and blow it up. If the crew did not suffer particularly many casualties beforehand - ship can survive, however, such a blow is extremely severe, turning what otherwise would be a fresh ship, into a burning husk rapidly taking water in.

Moreover: The citadel armour is the weakest among cruisers, amounting to only {{#unit:jp_cruiser_kuma|броня | цитадель | борт}}&nbsp;mm RHA. While on paper [[{{#unit:germ_cruiser_emden_1944|article}}|{{#unit:germ_cruiser_emden_1944|name}}]] has only {{#unit:germ_cruiser_emden_1944|броня | цитадель | борт}}&nbsp;mm, it's just for an internal plate, with a second 50&nbsp;mm plate in front of it. Under battle conditions this gives her much better protection, in particular at a point-blank range, where she's completely immune to Kuma's 140&nbsp;mm type 2 SAP shells. Kuma's citadel armour is enough to deflect only secondary armament (such as [[3-inch Mark 10 (76 mm)|
3-inch Mark&nbsp;10]]), HE shells from the main guns or certain low-penetration AP shells at a high angle of attack (such as [[180 mm/60 B-1-K (180 mm)|180 mm/60 B-1-K]]'s PB-32 SAPCBC shell at angles of over 72°, or Kuma's own 140&nbsp;mm type&nbsp;2&nbsp;SAP shells at any angle).
}}

=== Modifications and economy ===
{{Specs-Economy}}

As with every cruiser, the FPE and Tools are the most important modifications. Following that the goal is to reach the Ammo Wetting and 140 mm mod 1 SAP shells as soon as possible. Rudder Replacement would be a wise choice for the 3rd modification to unlock, as it increases your chances of dodging torpedoes, bombs, or perhaps even incoming shells if spotted early enough. In tier III the 140 mm mod 1 SAP and then Ventilation should be prioritized to increase firing power and decrease the crew loss in an event of a fire. The final required modification for the tier should typically be the Propeller Replacement, as it offers a significant improvement in mobility. Finally, for the tier IV you unlock Ammo Wetting, then Torpedo Mode. From now there's more freedom of choice. Two primary paths include the rest of Seakeeping or unlocking the Targeting modifications to help with the roll issues of the main guns. The least important modification is the Bomb mortar, as using depth charges on a cruiser is a grossly misguided venture.

== Armament ==
{{Specs-Fleet-Armaments}}
=== Primary armament ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Primary}}
<!-- ''Provide information about the characteristics of the primary armament. Evaluate their efficacy in battle based on their reload speed, ballistics and the capacity of their shells. Add a link to the main article about the weapon: <code><nowiki>{{main|Weapon name (calibre)}}</nowiki></code>. Broadly describe the ammunition available for the primary armament, and provide recommendations on how to use it and which ammunition to choose.'' -->
{{main|140 mm/50 3rd Year Type (140 mm)}}

Kuma has above-average sustained firepower for its BR when firing a broadside of 6 guns from the first-stage ammo stowage, even despite ship's individual guns being sub-pair when compared with an armament of the ships in the same BR. As a consequence she as the worst firepower directly in the rear and ahead. Especially given an extremely narrow-angle where 3 turrets firing ahead can simultaneously shoot at the same target, while at the rear she's covered by just a single 140 mm gun.

Guns have an acceptable reload speed and the second-best turning speed in its BR, though they suffer from one of the worst shell velocities among counterparts. Good horizontal guidance of the turrets allows her to fire most of its guns at a relatively steep angle of approach, minimizing exposed silhouette. That said though, once receiving all mobility upgrades, the ship will have an issue with roll exceeding negative vertical guidance of the turrets during the turns at high speed, making it impossible to engage targets at any range, often for significantly more than the full gun reload time.

Four types of ammunition are available, with HE shells being the only one open without any modifications unlocked:

* Type 0 '''HE''' - Primary type of shell, useful against all targets at all ranges. It's relatively good in fighting enemy ships of all types, primarily thanks to its good chance of igniting enemies. When fighting heavy cruisers with HE, shells should be fired at the superstructure whenever possible to prevent shells from being nullified by the armour.
* Type 0 '''HE-DF''' - Time-fuzed anti-aircraft shells. Their usability is highly situational due to the vertical guidance of just +20° that prevents effective engagement of anything but torpedo bombers.
* Type 2 '''SAP''' - tier 1 modification, it offers a larger explosive payload comparing to the type 1, though its penetration is usually insufficient to engage armoured parts of enemy cruisers at anything but the point-blank range. It's useful primarily against unarmoured targets, such as most of destroyers.
* Type 1 '''SAPBC''' - anti-cruiser semi-armour piercing shells, with increased penetration for the price of explosive payload. Though even with that increase, it will still struggle against heavy cruisers, or even citadels of a certain light cruisers at range. Still, though, it is typically the primary shell type to be used against heavier enemy warships.

{{:140 mm/50 3rd Year Type (140 mm)/Ammunition|140 mm type 0 HE, 140 mm type 2 SAP, 140 mm type 0 HE-TF, 140 mm mod 1 SAP}}
=== Secondary armament ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Secondary}}
<!-- ''Some ships are fitted with weapons of various calibres. Secondary armaments are defined as weapons chosen with the control <code>Select secondary weapon</code>. Evaluate the secondary armaments and give advice on how to use them. Describe the ammunition available for the secondary armament. Provide recommendations on how to use them and which ammunition to choose. Remember that any anti-air armament, even heavy calibre weapons, belong in the next section. If there is no secondary armament, remove this section.'' -->
{{main|25 mm/60 Type 96 (25 mm)}}

Dual-mount secondary 25 mm guns are positioned on sides of the first funnel. They have relatively good firing arcs, both: horizontal and vertical, although rarely able to bring both emplacements firing at a target at the same time. Realistically speaking those are the primary anti-aircraft armament of the ship.

That said though - they are still an exceptionally poor anti-aircraft weaponry, the worst among cruisers of all nations, being able to take down only the least cautious enemy airplanes. Similarly, when faced with enemy boats - using primary armament to take them down is always a vastly superior solution, even when manually controlling the guns.

=== Anti-aircraft armament ===
{{Specs-Fleet-AA}}
{{main|Type 92 (7.7 mm)}}

Next to the bridge superstructure there are located two 7.7 mm machine guns. They play a support role against hostiles below 1 km range, that said though: Within its BR those guns provide an insignificant amount of firepower, being nothing more than a nuance to the enemy.

=== Additional armament ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Additional}}
<!-- ''Describe the available additional armaments of the ship: depth charges, mines, torpedoes. Talk about their positions, available ammunition and launch features such as dead zones of torpedoes. If there is no additional armament, remove this section.'' -->
{{main|Type 6 (533 mm)|Type 95 depth charge|Mk.6 mod1 mine}}

The Kuma comes with an unusual type of torpedoes for a Japanese warship. Its wet-heater Type 6 torpedoes are the worst torpedoes one can find one a Japanese Capital Ship, featuring low damage potential, slow speed, and a relatively short range (although that gets alleviated by the Torpedo Mode). The notable upside of the ship is the fact that she carries a full reload of torpedoes, allowing for surprise attacks and exploiting opportunities more than once during the battle.

==== Stock ====
When stock, with just 7 km range at the speed of 65 km/h, the usefulness of torpedoes is limited pretty much only to short-range counter-torpedo activities, or late-match encounters. That said though, ideally, torpedoes would be used only as a defensive measure, dropped between main gun salvoes or during the turns, as typically hostile ships will have ample time to avoid while themselves having faster and more potent torpedoes.

==== Torpedo Modification ====
Once equipped with a torpedo modification it increases range to 15 km at the price of decreasing speed all the way down to 48 km/h. Use cases extend to an area-denial, taking down less aware cruisers or AI-controlled units, notably Cargo ships. The very slow speed, however, is a significant challenge, as sometimes you'll find even cruisers easily avoiding hits, with the barest adjustments of course making it impossible to score hit by the time torpedo actually arrives at the target location. Hitting a destroyer with torpedoes after the modification boils down mostly to luck or failure of the enemy captain to first change the course and then spot an obvious, slow-moving trails. Typically a wider cone of torpedo spread might be preferable for increasing a hit chance when dropping them against the larger number of enemy ships. Trying to nail a lone warship at a long range is a moot effort.

=== Scout plane ===
{{Specs-Fleet-Plane}}

== Usage in battles ==
IJN Kuma is a relatively weak cruiser, requiring more skill to play than the majority of its counterparts. It's not exceptional in any dimension while having two important downsides: exposed ammunition storage and negligible anti-aircraft armament. Even a typical upside of the Japanese warships - torpedoes - is crippled due to Kuma featuring the worst torpedoes one could find in Japan. Torpedo mode mitigates the issue somewhat, but if one wants to play torpedo-centric gameplay, any Japanese destroyer would be a better choice.

The best strategy is to be a strong team player. Use vastly superior anti-aircraft armament of the friendly warships to provide you with an anti-aircraft cover, pick equal or weaker targets with your guns, use your torpedoes on larger groups of enemies or AI targets. If playing arcade, you should drop torpedoes frequently, and if it's not convenient to make a 180° turn to attack with the other side (e.g. because you'd break the formation), just drop them into the water without any target, and wait for an automatic reload. Kuma's main speed is higher than the one of other ships, so you can perform evasive action while keeping decently close to a group of friendlies. When concentrated by multiple enemy ships, you should attempt to break contact and flee, or at least put 1 friendly between you and them.

One way to use it is to stay at medium or long range and suppress the enemy with the high rate of fire. Either using the 140mm HE weaponry to cause deck fires or the 140mm SAP to disable turrets.

=== Pros and cons ===

'''Pros:'''

* Above-average firepower for the main calibre broadside
* Able to reload torpedoes in battle
* Good maximum speed for the BR
* Very long-range torpedoes (although relatively slow)
* One scout plane
* Ability to stay afloat with 2 bulkheads completely flooded.

'''Cons:'''

* Exposed ammunition storage often leads to the ammunition explosions
* Poor AA armament
* Poor forward and rear-facing weaponry compared to the counterparts
* SAP shells offer a very poor penetration and a relatively low explosive filler
* Tendency to catch fire easily. (However, it has the ability to put out the fire very quickly)

Kuma (球磨) was laid down in August 1918 in Sasebo Navy Yard on the southernmost Japanese main island, Kyushu. She was completed in 10 months and launched in July 1919. She did not see any action during the interwar period, being kept out of the Second Sino-Japanese War. In 1929 she had rainwater protection devices added to the top of her funnels, making them characteristically bulbous (this missing is but one of several issues with the in-game model of Kuma which most closely reminds a 1942 refit of her sister ship, Tama (多摩)).

This class of light cruisers was composed of five members: Kuma, Abukuma, Kitakami, Tama, Ōi and Kiso. They were developed from the previous Tenryū class and stood out for being the fastest units of their type at the time.

Her first combat action was Operation M (M作戦), invasion of the Philippines, where she faced her first fight, being attacked by US airplanes ([[PBY-5 Catalina|Catalinas]] and [[B-17 (Family)|B-17]]s) while covering the landings in the northern part of the Philippines. She proceeded further south assisting invasion forces, where she fired her guns at the Cebu harbor, sinking coastal trading vessels. Following that she was ordered to secure the city of Zamboanga, where Kuma assisted with amphibious landings, shelled armed resistance on land and, in the evening of 3 March 1942, has sunk 12 ships in the Sulu Sea, marking it the most successful day in the ship's history. During the night of 8 April 1942 she was attacked by two US torpedo boats ([[Elco 77 ft PT-20|Elco 77 ft]]) while escorting an invasion force. She suffered a direct hit from an [[Mk.8-3 C/D (533 mm)|Mk. 8 torpedo]] in the bow, though it failed to detonate saving the ship. She continued her role as a cover of further landings, ending with the battle of Corregidor Island on 6 May 1942.

In June 1943 Kuma was sent to guard the port of Makassar, where she survived a raid of seventeen [[B-24/PB4Y (Family)|B-24]] bombers, suffering only minor damage from near-misses.

In November 1943 the ship underwent a significant refit of the armament. Dry-docked in Singapore, her catapult and the turret number 5 ahead of the catapult were removed, instead, two triple-mount [[25 mm/60 Type 96 (25 mm)|25 mm anti-aircraft cannons]] were installed on top of the two dual-mount 25 mm in the front.

Early morning of 11 January 1944, during the naval exercises at the Malacca Strait, a lookout on Kuma spotted a periscope-like object. Called in Fubuki-class destroyer Uranami identified it as a false periscope, presuming it to be released by one of the friendly submarines (Japanese used floating devices made of wood and bamboo to lure US aircraft into wasting bombs). This periscope, however, belonged to the British submarine HMS Tally-Ho that at 11:43 fired a spread of 7 torpedoes, Kuma spotted them and attempted evasive action, however, it suffered a hit with two torpedoes to the stern, tearing off a large part of it and igniting fires across decks. Seven minutes into the action depth charges detonated on the quarterdeck. Captain called to abandon ship and within the following seven minutes Kuma has sunk, stern-first, with 138 lives lost. Survivors were rescued by the Uranami, including the captain.

She rested on her starboard, 46 m underwater, with her stern missing all the way to the port propeller. She met an unusually sad fate, being looted for scrap with a use of floating cranes. In 2014 it was reported that looters have cleared up nearly the entire wreck, metal likely being sold to China at the price of roughly 600 Malaysian Ringgit per tonne (125 € / $140 / ¥15,000). Large pieces of Kuma's wreck [https://www.reddit.com/r/WarshipPorn/comments/26b3rq/plundered_remains_of_the_wreck_of_the_ijn_light/ were photographed] in May 2014, later that month Malaysian Marine Department managed to [https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2014/05/23/sea-salvage-work-halted-dept-sinks-its-teeth-into-vessel-illegally-stripping-wrecks-for-scrap capture the group] responsible for the lootings.

History: Unfortunately, only one of the five members of the class, the Kitakami, survived World War II. The other four cruisers were lost during the conflict. For example, the Kuma was torpedoed by the British submarine HMS Tally-Ho in 1944, while the Tama was torpedoed by the American submarine USS Jallao. Kiso was bombed by American aircraft, and Ōi was converted into a cruiser with multiple torpedo tube mounts.

=== Interesting facts ===

* Displacement: Varied between 5,588 tons and 5,926 tons fully loaded.

=== [[wt:en/news/6171-development-kuma-the-fighting-bear-en|Devblog]] ===
Due to the expectation that the Tenryū-class cruiser wouldn't perform to the satisfaction of the naval command in its role of leader and the appearance of newer and faster destroyer types, with which the Tenryū wasn't able to keep up with, the shortcomings of the Japanese small cruiser concept became evident. These shortcomings were further emphasized with the advent of the large American Omaha-class light cruiser, capable of easily outgunning the Tenryū-class.

In response to this, Japanese shipbuilders revised Tenryū's design and developed a new, larger version of the ship with increased speed, range and firepower. This new successor design would become known as the Kuma-class light cruiser. With the design being accepted, outstanding plans for the construction of the four remaining Tenryū-class light cruisers, as well as three other cruisers, were cancelled, while an order to construct five Kuma-class light cruisers was issued instead.

Kuma, the lead ship of her class, was laid down in August 1918, launched in July 1919 and subsequently entered service with the IJN the following year, in August of 1920. Immediately after her commissioning, Kuma was deployed as part of the Japanese intervention in Siberia against Bolshevik forces.

During the early 1930s, Kuma underwent a significant refit and later took part in hostilities during the Second Sino-Japanese War, patrolling off the coast of China and assisting in landing operations.

Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Kuma participated in the Invasion of the Philippines and would remain stationed there until August 1942. After a brief refit in September, Kuma joined the Dutch East Indies and New Guinea campaigns, being tasked with transporting troops and patrolling the local waters until late 1943.

In January 1944, Kuma came under torpedo attack from the British submarine HMS Tally-Ho, shortly after departing Penang. Kuma suffered two hits, with the resulting damage and subsequent depth charge detonations sealing the ship's fate. Kuma was later struck from navy records in March 1944.
The '''{{Specs|name}}''' is a rank {{Specs|rank}} German strike aircraft {{Battle-rating}}. It was introduced in [[Update 1.57 "Battle March"]].

Contrary to popular belief the Do 335 is not a super prop. The initial design was a "Schnellbomber" (fast bomber), but with the start of the emergency fighter program, most bomber contracts were shelved to increase fighter production. At Dornier, the idea arose to reconfigure the current bomber design into a heavy fighter to exploit the failure of Focke Wulf's [[Ta 154 A-1|Ta 154]].

Consequently, flight agility is mediocre, lending itself in feeling to Dornier's previous heavy fighters: [[Do 17 Z-7|Do 17 Z-7]] and [[Do 217 N-1|Do 217N]]. Both of which were coincidentally bombers by birth too. The exception to this trait is the fantastic roll-rate, accomplished by boosted ailerons as seen on the [[Ta 152 H-1]].

The Do 335 is a difficult plane to fly. It has good armament, however, lacks anything else of substance. Sub-par flat climb rate, bad turning, and handling, as well as the lack of armor and a propensity to catch fire make this aircraft a very difficult grind. Pilots should utilize the air spawn, then climb as high as possible and go after bombers. Once available, the air belts are devastating against bombers; however, as the plane lacks armor and catches fire quickly, tailing should be avoided. It is also possible to Boom & Zoom with, however, the plane tends to veer off target in prolonged dives.

== General info ==
=== Flight performance ===
{{Specs-Avia-Flight}}
<!-- ''Describe how the aircraft behaves in the air. Speed, manoeuvrability, acceleration and allowable loads - these are the most important characteristics of the vehicle.'' -->
Being originally designed as a fast bomber, it is not surprising that the {{PAGENAME}} features excellent top speed and rolling characteristics. While the plane has mediocre flight characteristic in a level flight, in a shallow dive, the plane can quickly gain its speed and momentum. This can be exploited by zoom-climbing using the energy gained in a dive, then do a shallow dive to regain its energy again, rinse and repeat.

However, the {{PAGENAME}} suffers from common weaknesses of converted light bombers, that being it has overall poor handling. The plane tends to oversteer, especially in a dive or at high speed, while also being too sluggish to keep up with fighters or even some light/medium bombers in horizontal manoevers. This restricted the plane's usage against enemy aircraft to only boom-and-zoom tactics.
Advantaged by its swift dive acceleration, Boom & Zoom is a viable tactic; however, it should be noted that prolonged engagements with enemy aircraft should be avoided, as energy fighters will quickly deplete its momentum, and turn-fighting aircraft will easily outmanoeuvre this lumbering aircraft. Instead, diving on a target with a lower energy state (it is permissible to engage some slower aircraft in level flight as the 335 can reach speeds well in excess of 450 km/h within seconds of levelling the aircraft out of a climb) and then simply running away and zoom climbing out of range if the target is not killed on the first run is a significant advantage for DO-335 pilots who wish to return home alive. It may take several runs to kill a target, even with the heavy armament possessed by this aircraft, however momentum conservation is a key advantage of the 335, and multiple swooping attack runs disallow slow, "walking" adjustment of fire by bomber turrets, and can deny a turn-fighter an opportunity to attack, and potentially significantly drain them of energy. Targets in a higher energy state (More altitude and/or speed) should not be engaged unless you can ensure that once you have followed through with the attack run, you will be moving fast enough to avoid retaliation by the target.

Made a problematic aircraft to master by its poor manoeuvrability, both anti-bomber operations and ground strafing are a challenging task in this aircraft; however, it does have bomb capacity for 1,000 kg of ordnance and considering its speed, it is moderately capable in the role of a medium or strategic bomber aircraft. Subsequently, the ability to disrupt soft (20 mm) and hard (30 mm) ground targets far away from the initial fighter onslaught does provide some redemption for its poor anti-aircraft capabilities.

The Do 335's design flaws make it particularly inept at chasing other planes. It is nigh-impossible to try to aim while performing a dive since the nose dances around in all directions and provides no stability to the aiming reticle. Indeed, aiming at the enemy while climbing is prone to the same inaccuracy. Trying to roll the wings to enter a quick dive, e.g. to escape an approaching enemy, is more akin to turning a ship than a heavy fighter. During ground attacks, its inability to aim properly makes more of a "spray and pray" than an accurate firing platform. The most useful approach would be to dive on bombers and attempt to hit with the 30 mm cannon at a distance.

====Counter-Tactics====
<!--What to expect, if it would be in command of the enemy and how to counter it. (i.e. They will most likely BnZ, etc.)-->
The Do 335 is fast in a dive but flies like a brick. Out-turning it is easy in almost all aircraft it will face. Due to the centre-mounted cannons, it is best to avoid head-ons.
=== Pros and cons ===

'''Pros:'''

* Excellent top speed at very high altitudes
* Great dive top speed and acceleration, good at zoom climbing
* Great roll rate
* Very tough airframe
* Powerful 30 mm and 15 mm autocannons were mounted at centerline, providing good accuracy head-ons
* Internal bomb bay for second payload drop

'''Cons:'''

* Bad flatline acceleration and sub-par climb rate compared to other twin-engine fighters
* Sub-par top speed at sea level
* Tends to over-steer with mouse control on rudders and elevators, resulting in worse manoeuvrability overall as you either will have to turn more gently in order to avoid over-steering, or wait for the instructor to compensate
* Steering in a dive results in very poor accuracy
* Alignment of the engines along the centre axis makes it extremely easy for either one or both to get damaged when attacked by enemy fighters and potentially set on fire
* Hard to take off and land due to its dual engine configuration
* Heavily reliant on it's 30 mm Mk 103 with limited ammo to do the damage dealing as the 15 mm MG 151's won't be able to suffice considering the aircraft's handling

== History ==
The Dornier Do 335, also known as the “Pfeil” (which means “Arrow” in German), was a remarkable heavy fighter aircraft developed by the Dornier company during World War II, being the Nazi Germany’s fastest piston - engined aircraft during this armamentistic period.

In real life, the Do 335 excelled in '''Boom & Zoom''' tactics, making quick, swooping attacks on enemy bombers, in the game the plane can be used to hunt fighters or bombers, however, it will rarely be above a bomber to carry out these tactics.

=== Production Numbers: ===
Dornier (the company) completed as many as 48 Do 335 airplanes, and another nine were under construction when the war ended. The original plan issued by the RLM (Reichsluftfahrtministerium) called for Dornier to build 310 Do 335s by late 1945.

=== Combat History: ===
The Do 335 saw limited combat action due to the war’s end. However, its first recorded combat encounter was against French pilot Pierre Clostermann in April 1945. French ace Clostermann intercepted a Do 335 during this encounter. Despite its impressive speed, the Do 335 faced challenges in maneuverability and handling, which affected its combat effectiveness.

=== Kill Ratio: ===
Unfortunately, precise kill ratios for the Do 335 are not widely documented due to its limited operational use.

However, its performance and unique design made it a formidable adversary, especially in boom-and-zoom attacks against enemy bombers. The Do 335’s speed and firepower allowed it to engage targets effectively, but its scarcity and late entry into combat hindered its overall impact.

=== Some real aspects of the plane: ===

* The Do 335 excelled in '''Boom & Zoom''' tactics, making quick, swooping attacks on enemy bombers.

* Delays in engine deliveries meant that only a handful of Do 335s were delivered before the war ended.
* Despite its impressive speed, the aircraft suffered from poor maneuverability and handling, (as in the game do).
* The rear pusher propeller required an ejection seat for safe escape, and explosive bolts were used to jettison the propeller and dorsal fin before ejection.

=== Interesting fact: ===

* The Germans claimed that a pilot flew a Do 335 at a speed of '''846 km/h (474 mph)''' in level flight, surpassing the official world speed record at the time.
